8/4/21 Update to my review from July 24; knocked down to one star from two stars. The developers updated the game today and now there’s a banner ad at the top of the screen that completely blocks your score and obscures your view of incoming enemies. There is no way to get rid of the ad either. If you click the “x” it stays there. Unbelievable.

Had this game on my phone for years, and it used to be fun. Now it’s gotten worse with each update. As of mid-July 2021, you can no longer continue if you get shot down. Previously you could spend coins or watch an ad and pick up where you left off. Now, if you sit through the ad, you still lose and it takes you back to the start screen. To add insult to injury, after the ad finishes you can’t start a new game without completely closing ShootySkies and restarting it. Prior to the most recent update, the daily missions were broken. The developers manage to “fix” one issue, then completely break something else.

Very addictive. I do wish that when you get a new weapon that you'd get to keep it longer, especially if you use coins to get it. Otherwise it's truly an excellent, simple game.

Update: the past two daily missions have been annoyingly time consuming to achieve. I've done EVERY mission through yesterday. I enjoy a challenging mission. But I just don't want to spend an hour or more playing a game trying to accomplish something all in a single turn. It takes something that should be fun and just makes it annoying. If this is the trend of new missions, I'm just not going to bother playing the game. I'd gotten kind of tired of the game, but the introduction of daily missions made it more interesting again. Now interesting has turned to pointless unless you just want to try and try and try and try all day. I have things in real life to accomplish that require that kind of persistence, so I don't have time to waste on frustrating "entertainment."

Just another mobile game pumped out to make money with little to no thought behind it. Which are my bullets and which are the enemy bullets? More projectiles and enemies does not make the game harder, it makes it more messy. Explosions take up half the screen even when you put explosions at the supposed lowest level. Golden characters are useless. Why don’t weapons you buy carry over to daily challenges? Why can’t you stack you stack multiple weapons at once? It feels like grinding the challenges and achievements are worth nothing. The Reaper enemy blends in with the background and comes out of nowhere. Even the backgrounds and certain sprites are recycled from other games. Also, many of them are dark and and the enemies blend right in. The company clearly paid money to be selected for “developers choice.” Please use your resources to make an actual good game.

I used to use this game as a pastime a few years ago. And a few weeks ago, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and play it again. I do not remember there being so many ads when I used to play it all the time. I once got five ads in a row. This wasn’t even to receive some sort of reward, it was after a death. It’s sad, because this game used to be so much fun but the ads kind of kill any fun there was left in the game. I’m disappointed. I completely understand that people need to make money, but the reasonableness of the amount of ads that get put in a game has a line, and I feel that that line was crossed a long time ago. What, with the in-game purchases as well, the developers clearly saw that their game was doing well, and they wanted to milk it for all that it was worth. It did more bad than it did good.

I've been playing this game for many, many years. My daily reward count is up close and other 500 days in a row. It is very annoying with the new version that to get your daily reward (which is supposed to *encourage* the user to play daily) I now have to play 3 rounds and endure at least one 30 full screen interstitial ad - TO BE REWARDED FOR PLAYING YOUR GAME REGULARLY. Are you guys really that desperate for money? I have over 800,000 coins saved up. I don't even need the daily rewards, but the few games I do play I am dedicated to playing them daily. Don't spit on those of us who actually play regularly and force us away by shoving ads down our throat - or is that your goal is for me to stop playing your game?

This is a great game but some things seem like their impossible to do! Whenever I do the daily challenges the always make it impossible! I have only completed one daily challenge and when I try to do the others it frustrates me because I can’t complete the others. I don’t know if they actually made it impossible or I’m just bad at the daily challenges. And one more thing, can you get one of the pigs from the machine that you draw from? I really hope you can because I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ pigs!🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷🐷 but other then all those things I love this game!!

I would like to start by saying, this game is amazing. The actual gameplay loop is fun and engaging, you can earn anything that effects gameplay, and its easy to do so. That being said; the ads are ridiculous. They are everywhere, if you die and you just want to go to the main screen, bam an ad. Even if you don’t gain something from them. And you can’t escape them while playing. While you actually play the game, you can get ads that talk while you are playing which is very annoying when you are trying to focus (or your like me and listen to a podcast while playing, so you can’t hear what is being said) and these ads lag out the game, i have died before because of these annoying popups, and in order to restart I have to watch an ad. I love this game a lot, and I continue to keep playing it today even with these issues. But please tone the ads down a bit.

Hello, reader. So, I played this game on release when I was much younger. I fairly recently got back into playing the game on my phone now. I more recently got a new phone, and the curvature of the screen doesn’t really work with the layout of the UI. I can’t even see how close I am to getting all the characters. I really think we need a content update cuz this game hasn’t been touched in FOREVER. Ads are kind of annoying, but you really only get them if you die repeatedly, so being good at the game is a benefit for that kind of thing.

I absolutely love this game! I personally think it’s one of the best free mobile games out! But, i do have some problems with it. Now I’m not sue if I’m just playing the game wrong or playing on bad settings but sometimes it’s just too chaotic and I can’t see what projectile is coming for me. Sometimes there are just too many explosions and I can’t see anything on my screen. I play on skirmish difficulty and still find it very challenging. If anyone has any tips on how to be better, please tell me because I want to be better at this game but sometimes it’s just too difficult.

Great chaotic fun! The screen is usually messy, but that’s part of the fun!
There are some parts of the game that are a little bit... strange. Like the head of a blind grandma stuck to a weather vane. I also don’t understand why some of the enemies are good things (pugs, people with shopping carts, frogs, computers with adorable animals on them, bats). It makes sense to destroy robots, skeletons, hooded reapers throwing blades at you, and I suppose even giant mouths. But why all the other innocent critters and people? I was thinking that maybe you should have a backstory to the game that explains why the game is so weird (in a good way). Maybe they’re on another planet? Someone is controlling the cute critters’ minds and turning them evil? Just some ideas. I also thought that you could have landscape mode as an option so that you have more space to move around (just like y’all’s other game, Crossy Road). Perhaps you could temporarily unlock the landscape mode in one of the blue presents that you can collect while flying!

Plz remove cruise missile. It’s cool during the normal flights but when boss comes around it’s such a handicap since it bumps the boss back and forth. Or at least make the power ups visually changes from one weapon to another so the user can choose which power up to get. That would be great!!

Also watching ad to continue does nothing. It just take you back to the home menu screen with no option to play again continue or not. You must force close app to start all over.

So I had this game a while ago and it never had the enemy sound effects like the phone ringing and arcade noises. I find those noises to be a little annoying; the shooting noises and explosions, I can handle those, but I can’t stand the weird music and enemy noises. Could there maybe be an option to turn off enemy sound effects? There is an option to turn off sound all together, but I just wish the enemy noises could be turned off without having to turn off sound all together. I hope you guys take this into account.

The game is fun for all ages really. Some of the bosses are pretty difficult even for more experienced players. The challenges are pretty hard as well but they still are a good part of the game. The characters are pretty cool but the golden characters don’t really do anything. The developers should really add some new modes to make the game more fun because then everyone would probably have a better review of the game.

The explosions from all the enemies don’t bother me too much because they only last for a second and is a fun way to kill an enemy. The duplicates make me pretty mad but getting coins really isn’t a huge problem. Basically the overview in my opinion is that this is a fun game to enjoy at home, on the road, or even before you go to bed. It’s a free game too so if anyone is interested, then they can give it a go. I highly recommend it if it’s the first game that is to be purchased from ShootySkies Store.

Omg this game is almost better than fortnite! It’s so intense and chaotic and I LOOOVE that! This game is also very addictive and so fun there might have to be a new word for fun. I have nothing bad to say about this game but I do have a suggestion for the game! You can do a game level where you can pick three characters to fight one really huge boss! No extra enemies or anything! Just one huge boss with 3 health bars, and super dangerous powers. Now that, would be extremely awesome! Other than that this game is very well functioning, super fun, and the characters are so creative! This is my favorite game, five starts 😉 👍🏾

I play this game almost everyday. It’s challenging, addicting, and great fun. However, there are a few things I dislike in the game. I made a quick list of what I think should be changed.

1. Remove Yeti
Of all sidekicks, this is the one I hate the most. It’s super annoying when it knocks enemies away from your shoots. It barely does any damage. Sometimes, it even knocks enemy shots into you. Please remove this ASAP.

2. Lower “No Duplicates” Price
This thing is way overpriced. 5000 just to make sure you don’t get a duplicate when you could get a crate that’s a fraction of the price and rarely gives duplicates? I suggest that you lower the price to at least 1000.

3. Make Ticket Styles Better
There isn’t much of a point in getting a ticket crate other than making your character gold. It barely changes the skin and sometimes makes it worse. Please make these better.

Besides these problems, the game is great and definitely deserves Editor’s Choice. Keep doing what you guys are doing.

Hi, thanks for reading my review. I have played this game for 5+ years and it’s my favorite game. I love everything behind it. I do think something should be added. I think you should be able to equip many weapons at the same time for each run, but I think there should be a way for you to unlock spots for those weapons you want to equip using the credits you earn in the game. In my opinion, I think this will benefit a whole lot for users in a fun way. Being able to unlock spots to equip more weapons will be a “gunner”way to use your weapons you want to equip. A thrilling bullet-hell shoot-‘em-up experience that delivers a surprising amount of depth through its simplicity. When you place your finger on your screen you’ll start shooting and your character locks on where your finger is at. Merging the shooting and the movement forces you to split your attention from where your shooting to do as much damage as possible and trying to avoid any incoming attacks so you yourself don’t die. But when you let go you start to charge a super attack that will release the next time you touch your screen. All of this leads to gameplay where you’re only moving when you have to and when you are you trying to hit as many shots as possible and all everything being thrown at you.

This is my go-to free to play game. I spent a few bucks paying for the golden pig, to get double coins from enemies, and I haven’t spent another dime. Totally worth it and then some. The most recent update with changing difficulty has made this game shine even more. It’s fun to play, has a great sense of humor, and doesn’t force you to shell out money for “lives” or anything. I felt good spending a little bit of money on this to support the developers of a great game, but it’s not necessary to enjoy this. The only issue with this game, and it doesn’t prevent me from giving it 5 stars, is that you often get the same characters over and over when redeeming coins for the prize machine. But the game makes up for it by letting you spend coins on opening past daily challenges. Love this game and hope it keeps getting great updates like it has been.

Hello! This game is real nicely done and you worked really hard on it but however there is a slight problem: I managed to keep playing normally with the progress to secret vault or whatever, it is a trick to keep playing and I managed to do it. Now, I don’t know why how I pulled it off, it is some sort of thing that some people did manage to do it, and the timing window is precise. So, you have now a new objective: go ahead and do you your best to try to patch it out so we can have some better shooty gameplay and some action well paced. Also, there is a few other things that still can be patched. I don’t know what they are, but, when you check the comments, make sure to patch ‘em. I made incorrect spelling, but don’t worry, I’m just quoting from the game title. Ok, go ahead to try patching it out and- ok just do it.

There are lots of characters which take lots of space so why don’t you erase the characters
(I now it is hard work to do them )
So you erase the characters and let everyone create there own so it doesn’t take lots of space and every one has what he/she wants so at the first time you make your own character by free but to do another character you need to pay or you delete your own character and make A new one instead of it
And also it’s better without achievements only daily missions without achievements
