Type S LED Reviews

I really like the Type S Off-Road Light Bar, but hate the Bluetooth capabilities. It takes a while for it to connect on my Iphone 11 Pro Max S/V 14.6.
Because it was too dark i turned it on via bluetooth. Few minutes later, oncoming car approaches, i grab my phone to unlock it and turn off the Light Bar, but by the time i actually get into TypeSLED , oncoming car has passed by me with a blinding face.
If theres an update to where it defaults to have it turned ON when power is applied via a relay/switch and then only use the actual app to mess with the RGB colors and settings, i would give 5 stars.

Ever since the last update that changed the game way TypeSLED looked none of my lights function properly, they’re literally not even worth using at this point, it’s that bad. Speed adjustment doesn’t work right, it almost doesn’t even work at all, when adjusted all the way up the lights appear to be steady burn then flash once every like 1 minute or so but when adjust at 1/4 of full speed they are kinda fast but not like before and I haven’t been able to find anything wrong with my lights, vehicle or phone and this is phone #2 that this problem among the page long list of other issues I’m experiencing that this has persisted with. And I’m now considering the hundreds of dollars I’ve spend on Type S lights to be a loss. To other people who are on the fence about buying some, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! You guys really need to fix this crappy app you have or provide your customers with an update or some kind of solution to this problem because I’ve spent well over $600 on these products only for them to randomly be rendered useless.

Not sure why but I’ll go outside and see my light bar has been on. Haven’t even opened TypeSLED in weeks and the lights will be on. Gonna have to pull the fuse so it doesn’t drain my battery overnight if I don’t notice theyre on. I have a cover on the light bar so it’s really hard to tell when the lights are unintentionally on. Otherwise I really enjoy it. I do wish I could change the preset truck icon to a photo of my car without having to go out and take the photo live. Wish it could just access my camera roll.

Could DEFIANTLY use some improvements. The speed “slide” is backwards. So what you would think is slower, is actually faster and vice versa. It would be nice if you could select multiple colors on strobe. Last thing, a for sure off button so I’m not driving down the road impersonating a cop and not even knowing it. I can turn it off and know that it’s off.

Besides all those requests, it does work and does have some nice features. But let’s face it, if your looking at TypeSLED it’s probably because you’ve already bought the light kit.

TypeSLED is ok. It needs a few improvements. The brightness and speed dial should have a number so you can make all of your lights even. You should be able to change multiple lights at once. Need a way to delete presets. Maybe some sort of security is also needed. Allow us to change options on things like which lights are in the prism of which light cycles. Sensitivity meter for music mode.

TypeSLED works great haven’t had any issues so far with it. One suggestion to the creators is and it’s a long shot but see what I’d take to make TypeSLED Apple CarPlay compatible. It would be very nice if there was a way do change the colors and setting from my head unit in my truck rather than pulling my phone out to do it. Just a suggestion don’t know if it’s even possible but that would be an awesome feature.

Firmware needs to be updated with breathing, auto color change and so on.

Gotta say that type s has really stepped up their game. I was surprised at how bright and clear the off road lights are. I just bought them a couple of days ago and last night was the first time I had the opportunity to use them at night.

I think for my situation the only thing to make them better for me is custom brackets. Other than that they work perfectly. ❤️

Only question is why don’t they have headlight kit that act as an expansion for this kit too.

I really want my low beams to be app controlled too.😢 I really don’t want to buy them from a different company and have two separate apps, just makes it more complicated 😞

The product it self is great, works as expected. But that being said, it would be nice if you could change a few settings for the Music mode, especially sensitivity, for when I play on a loud volume, it picks up everything and it doesn't have too much of an effect. And the UI itself could use a cleaner look, the quality is a little low in app but as stated works as expected

I was excited seeing a new update today but as the case with most things these days, they didn’t address the actual issues. The color wheel shades are still way off and the UI (which was listed in the update) hasn’t changed. It’s still confusing and clunky. For what these lights cost and their cocky advertising you would think they would have a better app. Figures they’re just another company that reels you in to make money then drop you.

Went through the trouble of checking the lights first, then installed them in my show car, having to run wires very carefully so they didn’t show . Get them all installed and the lights turn on only for about 10 seconds, then they shut off. The master says it is still on but the lights aren’t. Tried everything I could, including uninstalling TypeSLED and reinstalling. Still the same. Would like to hear from someone, anyone in their company to try to get this resolved.

App is functional but I wish the brightness and speed would be numbers instead of a slider because I would want all my lights to be the same speed that or have the ability to make presets control more than one light so all flash same way.

Horrible... wish the music setting would change colors and make all the lights do different things rather than the laggy way it is. I tuned off everything in my car and it picks up everything even road noise. Better settings would be way better. I wish you could set all the lights on random or synced to music. Also there should be a better color wheel. App needs a lot of work. $70 lights in my car ended up looking great with not that great of an app. Fix TypeSLED please!!!!

Overall great app, very clean and easy to figure out. The only negative comment I have is in regards to the inability to edit your presets, once you set them, they are the only ones you can use on demand. Would be a major improvement in my opinion.

TypeSLED is amazing with the products. I only wish that the developers would make TypeSLED work with apple CarPlay so I can work the lights from my radio rather then keeping TypeSLED open on my phone. Other then that love it all.

This update is horrible it takes forever to turn on my smart off road bar now like c’mon guys not to mention that every time I place (move) the fixture to bottom of the screen and save it does not stay put so every time I open app it’s back at the top which is wired b/c my interior lights icons that I moved do stay put? Please make this correct

Is there a way we all to make TypeSLED so it won’t turn off after 30 sec because I had this kit a year ago and it never did this when my car was off then I just got a new one and it is turning off after 30 sec please help

I wish you can set the music and other settings to random color because I rather have random lights and not have to change it or even select a group of colors to flash

Had lights on . Hit the master switch , but nothing happened. Light remained on . I cycled the switch back and forth several times but the light wouldn’t shut off . I even closed TypeSLED . It had been working for the first 10 minutes after I installed. Most of the time the on/ off button worked . But when I needed it off , it wouldn’t. I had to pull over and open hood and removed inline fuse to turn it off .

Yeah as the tittle says you can’t delete a preset i gold down on one and it’ll ask if I’d like to delete this preset but it will freeze after that other than that the product is awesome well worth the price

Love it, quality lights. Although customization could be better. Like if we could pick our own to colors to flash or “trail”.
Or make our own (prism) schemes!!!
Fix this and I’m sure your profits would skyrocket.

I have had them for a while. Inside and out -there should be an Apple car play version of the ap. There should be a way to set a timer on the lights so that you could set it after you cut your car off. Overall a great product and a good app.

Lights look good everything is great except I wish I could change the sensitivity of the music option. Also when I have them in prism effect I wish there was a sink option so they would all go at the same pace..
