HORRIBLE-SCREWED UP MY PHONE
2022-05-22
by Hollie2010
WORST APP EVER!! COMPLETELY DESTROYED THE SMS FUNCTION ON MY PHONE!!! I wanted to send something to all 1600 people in my iPhone so I got HitEmUp. First, they failed to mention you have to hit send for every single contact so it took me hours to do so despite HitEmUp . Second, it doesn't show up on your home page so it was INCREDIBLY difficult to delete. Third, it disabled my iMessage, which says it's on but it's not, I get a failed to send message on every text before it sends, IF it sends. Some don't. Videos won't send. I'm getting calls from people who are asking why I haven't responded to texts I never received, while sending me screenshots of the sent texts, which forces me to use WhatsApp for the people I KNOW I'm not receiving texts from. Others....I'll never know about, which is going to seriously affect my business. I'm going to Apple tomorrow to see if they can untangle this mess. If not, I'll have to use a May backup and lose 20 GB of data added between May and Sept. Yes, 20 GB. I run a business from my phone. WORST APP EVER. I have never, EVER had anything screw up my phone as badly as HitEmUp. I would have been better off if the developers had stolen my phone. At least then, $1200 would have fixed the problem without me losing 5 months of data. I'm Furious.
Good concept, doesn’t work properly

The user interface is relatively easy to use and kept simple. I gave it 1 star because it works only half of the time I need to use it and it’s very expensive considering it’s simple task and the fact that it often does not wore. It constantly requires that I verify my phone number and often responds that it’s “offline” and can not verify even though my internet connection is fine and all other apps are working. I’ve tried reconnecting to my network, reinstalling, updating to a new version, and even tried a different phone, but it changed nothing. I suppose most people who are ready to spend money on HitEmUp probably need it for a specific use, not just chatting, and so HitEmUp working only 50% of the time will simply force you to find another app. I spent around $70 on HitEmUp and I consider it to be a waste for the reasons above. I don’t recommend purchasing HitEmUp.
Better than others, but still lacking

I purchased a one-month subscription to communicate with a non-profit group's biennial conference. It worked, but much was lacking for what I wanted it to do--and that is communicate with important updates and changes. 1) I wanted to import >400 names; 2) But I didn't really want all those names in my private contact list (they are); 3) the restriction that permits sending only 50 texts at a time meant I had to make 9 groups, but HitEmUp doesn't identify what has been sent so it's counting on fingers; 4) Each of the groups requires multiple click-throughs to actually send a text. Need to be aware of that!; 5) the interface is clunky; and 6) the request to rate the ap is intrusive....again...and again. (I'll rate it when I know what it can--and cannot--do.) I think there is promise with HitEmUp. It worked. It was just difficult to manage and I felt like I was working with 10-year-old software.
HitEmUp gets higher marks since Zake contacted me so quickly. Unfortunately, although I'd tried out sending texts to a small group--and it did well--the scale up did not perform well for me. I did make separate groups in my contacts by labeling the company field and using that to make my 50-person group text. I still must now delete. More than 400 entries from my personal contact list--unless there is a simpler way? Zake--are you saying that if I used the personalized option, I could have distributed them in one go?
Real good app, needs better features!

HitEmUp will no doubt be excellent if it were possible to add phone numbers not necessarily saved as contacts. I am a REALTOR and I find myself very often needing to communicate with many potential clients that I don't have saved as contacts on my phone. Being able to mass text people and having the option to add a new number would be a great upgrade to HitEmUp. For this reason only I will give it three stars.
If you are interested in mass texting people you already have saved as contacts, then this is HitEmUp for you. However, if you are also interested or more inclined in using it to communicate events or gatherings to groups of people who are not necessarily your "friends" and saved as contacts, then HitEmUp will not do.
My sincere review and wishing the best of luck to the developers!!!
HitEmUp is quite expensive but I needed a bulk email app and this was used on a tutorial I saw as I was doing research. I do find it quite glitchy. At times it freezes, so o am forced to hit the “skip and continue” button and come back after to re-send those messages that were stuck. Also I have noticed that it often gives me “failed to send” and then you have to resend, but if you have pictures, text, and a link let’s say, you have to resend each of those things separately and it’s quite tedious. For the price, and running on the most up-to-date IOS and version of HitEmUp , it could be better. I will only be keeping my subscription until I no longer need it (end of April), and I’ll have to pay for a whole extra month because of how the timing worked out. There are lots of bulk messaging apps and I thought this would be the winner.... I’m sticking with it because I paid for it but it can be quite frustrating at times.
So great! But contacts won’t synch anymore :(

HitEmUp is so much better than other options I’ve used. I’m using it for a small nonprofit that needs to quickly communicate with big groups of volunteers. I had no problem for the first year I used it but lately I’m not able to send ANYTHING. Or maybe something has changed and now there is no record of the texts that have been sent? I have tried sending to just one contact, no luck. And I’ve tried to contact support but haven’t heard back (note, this could be my bad though because I’m not entirely sure the message went through). Point is, this is a well designed app and if you can get it to work for you, it’s really helpful and time saving. But heads up to the developers, this user is having trouble sending things out and no longer has anything come up when she clicks to contact support.
Works great

I like HitEmUp for sending customers reminders directly from my number and allowing responses to come directly to me but wish it would have the ability to just "send all" instead of making me send one at a time. I appreciate the ability to edit each message but if I'm not wanting to do that, hitting send for 3 minutes straight over and over again is time consuming.
The only other wish would be to not have to wipe out the suggested message each and every time and then saying yes I'm sure that I want to write my own.
Other than those little things, I love this and recommend it to all LLR consultants looking for a similar product.
Better than the rest but still could be a lil better

First, this is a great app. It does what it’s suppose to do and 89.9% of the time of does it with no fuss. I am not sure what my list of recipients is considered in terms of small group /large group, etc. but I am sending weekly messages to approx 350ppl.
My main and biggest gripe is having to hit “send” push 350 times. There has to be has to be has to be a better way to do this. My list is growing and while I should be excited about that, I’m not because it’s just gonna take longer to send out the messages.
Is there something in HitEmUp that I am missing to make my experience better? Is there another app I should be considering? Talk to me internet......
Awesome app!

It’s a little clunky trying to figure it out at first. Having to tap send for all contacts is a pain but also great at the same time. There’s always those few where tweaking the message is crucial. To be able to send an individual text is very effective so people don’t think your mass texting them. Email is so old school with folder rules, junk mail, auto delete, etc. We’re currently in an era where everyone reads their texts, especially if you can personalize it like Hitem Up allows. Sales guys, if you aren’t texting your clients/prospects (when appropriate) your missing the boat. Nothing out there allows you to do this (I don’t think). Need to refine the tutorial a bit though.
So far, this is the best group messaging app I’ve found for iPhone. It doesn’t require you to dig into your phone settings. It just works. I can reach out to multiple people quickly with personalized messages and then get responses individually.
However, that being said, it is pricey with a $30 annual subscription. The only glitch I’ve found so far is that sometimes it tries to select all groups as recipients when you only want to select one. Also, I wish it included a scheduled text feature but hopefully that will come in the future.
All in all, it’s a great app if you’re looking to send out personalized group messages and receive individual responses
Perfect for small-medium sized groups

by Nballzdeep
This is a great solution for small-medium sized groups because it saves a lot of time over sending each message individually. I use this for my employees, a group of 21 people. You can create groups and different subsets if you don’t need to include everyone. I also really like that it has a birthday function which notifies you of birthdays in your contacts list if you include that information when creating your contact. The reason this isn’t necessarily the best choice for a large group is because you have to actually hit send for each contact. It constructs the message based on the template you give it so all you have to hit is send, but if you were using this for say-a few hundred people- that may get annoying. However, it’s a great choice if you don’t want to send 30 or 40 messages individually but are okay hitting send a few times. It saves you a lot of time. It’s a good solution for my use anyhow; I think it’s worth the money. Hope this makes sense and it helps.

OMG. Where “I HAVE BEEN WAITING A LIFETIME” has HitEmUp been. Yes, it’s only been one day, one text (image), sent to 17 people, yet I LOVE, LOVE, the ease of it. I was so hesitant that I sent it to myself first and it worked. Woo Hoo!!!🍾🌟🎉🎊🎈⚡️
Ready Set Go! 🚦 I’m up and running now. I can really see how this is gonna work with both my friends and customers alike. I despise group messages so I’m so happy to be able to make a Group for WHATEVER and WHENEVER and just text one message, thought, image, or combination thereof without the repetition of copy/paste. I’m glad I will even be able to personalize/customize each message as needed. That will be wonderful to let me quickly follow up after a networking event.
Finally!!! 🌟📨🤩⏱👏🏽📲 Thank you so much.
Great for Mass texts, instead of group texts!

by The Food Angel
I had such trouble with using my iPhone to send mass texts. I would either have to shut off the group text option in the settings or cut and paste to over 50 people! And it wasn't the time consuming effort necessarily, but more than 30% of the people never got the texts, or might get a snippet. Hit Em Up is great because it takes a template you write and after you select the people (or group you set up) it will show up in the iPhone text app to send to each person individually. You just keep clicking send and it's very rapid! 30 seconds to click & send to 52 people just now! AND I can personalize the mass texts with their names if I wanted to make it more personal.
I'm still in the free trial stage but I'm going to purchase, no doubt! I'm not even going to bother shopping around. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS!
Group texting peace of mind 👍

💌 I have overthought and researched texting apps etc for a few years. Once I realized there is no ultimate private secure texting (type at ur own risk anywhere u type) AND once I realized HIT EM UP’s main purpose is group texting, I finally jumped in. 🔥 I love it. It’s simple. It works. No apps to open to read text responses. Nothing different for people I text to. Almost no friction. Text recipients don’t know they’re on a group text. And I get to have all the other bells and whistles of my iMessage.
⚠️ Keep in mind - the individual sending of each ALREADY COMPOSED text is the best way to go for now. There really are a lot of legal rules and regulations.
If u have a small biz or Staples is your Disneyland or productivity is one of your hobbies. I think you will like Hit Em Up.
PS I don’t remember the last time I wrote a review and since other peeps reviews really help me and this is a good app with small following I thought it was important. 🙏
Impeccable Customer Service from Zak -- great recipe!

I downloaded the this app app and before sending my first text, HitEmUp requested payment during a 7-day trial. I left a frustrated message with tech support. Unbeknownst to me, Zak, the owner had sent two emails within hours, then called me. He walked me through the initial setup then proceeded to talk "business" with me about the upcoming pro version and his business model.
My review is not yet about HitEmUp but about the consistent responses from Zak even before I downloaded HitEmUp . It's refreshing to know that this company considers technology and live customer service equally essential when most owners hide behind emails and just take your money.
I'm on the east coast so it had to be early a.m. when Zak called from the west coast. This type of attention and dedication to get me started makes me commit to do my part and use HitEmUp .
This company appears to have some new business features they want to implement and I want to be involved. Zak also has an in-depth knowledge of each component to making, growing and sustaining a very prosperous business in a world where there are many competitors. I pray that his philosophy continues and as he grows, his employees continue the same. If so, this app will be the leader of this pack.
PS-I will update this review to cover HitEmUp 's features after my 7-day trial. #realpropertydiva

HitEmUp has saved me a lot of time. I text a lot of people every week the same, or similar, information. I don’t want to send a group text to 20+ people. I want the text to feel personal. I want to easily identify and and understand who is responding back and easily follow what they are responding to. I love that you can send a mass text that becomes a personalized one-on-one text conversation. HitEmUp allows me to easily create various groups. With one click I can choose the entire group, or quickly choose just the names I want included in the text. I love that HitEmUp pauses at each recipient which allows adding or changing a few words to make the text more personal and accurate to each recipient. This is so much faster than copy, paste, edit and send when you have a large group your sending the same, or similar, information. I also love that you can “skip” a recipient if you realize you’ve included someone in your text group that you didn’t mean to include. Great APP!
Works great but have to add more effort than i wanted

HitEmUp has given me zero problems m. Previously i used an app group text app, which strung together all 72 of my contact list and sent my morning message out all at once. The problem with this although in theory it was simplistic and amazing and no heavy lifting is that the new i0s shortly after iPhone X or right before iPhone X started causing problems with group text, and not everyone in the list of 72 received the messages. You have no way of knowing until someone ask you why they have not received it.
With HitEmUp, i have to individually press send on each contact which is annoying and if i ever surpassed 100 i will need a more efficient solution or hope that iOS has their crap together so i can go back to sending just one string of all contacts. But the other positive with individually sending the text is that i know everyone received and if For some reason there is an error you will be able to see on that persons text thread that they didn’t receive it. I have had 0 percent Failures since using HitEmUp.
Amazing so far!

I’m a director with 120 direct reports and I often have to disseminate information rapidly to various groups and occasionally all of my staff. Email is too slow and most front-line nurses don’t have time to check their email regularly anyway. Previously I would have to send multiple group text messages, copying and pasting the same message repeatedly. I had to manually keep track of who I’d already sent what to and it was, quite honestly, a mess.
I tried HitEmUp for the first time tonight and was able to send 70 separate staffing requests in approximately 5 minutes (not including the 10 or so it took me to set up my groups). I can’t believe how easy it was! Some have complained about having to hit send on each message but I personally liked it. I was able to add some custom things to various messages that required it without having to send a completely separate message.
I’ll update if things change but as of now this may be one of the most useful apps I use!

I’ve been using this product for quite a while to cut down on the amount of time spent texting individuals. Before it was cut, paste, personalize & send taking me a long time to reach the groups of people I needed to for work. HitEmUp makes it more efficient and allows you to encourage a convert through personalizing messages. One more thing—I did have an issue in which I needed help on. After an e-mail to Support, it was resolved quickly and effectively. I really appreciate the attentive response to get me up and running again. Thanks Zak!
Love HitEmUp have been using it for several months now and wow has it saved me so much time and frustration. Yes there are other apps similar to this but none of them have the combinations of the best features like Hit Em Up does. For example, you can create a group. That way you don't have to manually choose every contact you want to send a message to every time because that can take hours. Also I love the feature of adding their name to the message. It makes the message personalized and it's more likely they will read your message if there name is in it. I also love the layout. One of the big reason why I chose to buy. It's pleasing to the eye and so easy to work. I 100% recommend HitEmUp, it's totally worth paying $15 to use for a year. I got the rest of my co workers using it and they love it as well!
Perfect. Perfect. PERFECT!!!

I went through an experience where I was having to send 30+ people updates by text 2-3 times a day. It was exhausting to copy and paste my message into each individual chat every time. I wished that someone had invented a way to send texts like you send emails - to a group, but not in a group chat. Suddenly I had the idea, “Maybe there’s an app for this.” I typed it in on HitEmUp Store and tried and deleted a few terrible duds before I came across HitEmUp. Hit Em Up is exactly what I was looking for! Now when I need to send my 30+ contacts an update, I simply go to HitEmUp, paste the message ONCE (not 30 times!), and hit “send” to each person. Everyone gets their own individual message, and you can even personalize it with their name. The text sends just like a normal text message, with no “footer” or advertisement for HitEmUp attached. Today someone wrote back to me, “How do u send out group texts but it seems as if they are individual texts. Is there a "Bcc" version of text messaging?” I was proud to share them a link to HitEmUp! They wrote back, “That’s pretty neat. Brava!” Yep, I’d have to agree!

App keeps crashing. Every time I open the app it crashes. Version 2.966 is a waste of time. I tried on other phones and it crashes as well. They need to fix that issue. I love the birthday feature, but wish you can see past birthdays and future birthdays instead of just day of. If you miss a day, you cant go back to send a belated birthday wish. Please fix!!!!
