I downloaded Hover based on my insurance provider request. It’s garbage.
Hover may work for new builds but it’s useless for urban areas with mature trees around the house and/or close proximity to neighboring houses. The examples in Hover are simply unrealistic, no trees and no nearby buildings making it easy to take clean side and corner shots from a distance.
I submitted the first set of photos and they said the model failed, no clear corner photos, which I understand since I have mature trees around the house. But I spent a lot of time taking detailed measurements on every side of the house, every width, depth, height, all clearly marked on photos via the measuring app. The model failed again… no good corner shots. But I gave them detailed measurements!!! If they have any questions they could’ve emailed me but they didn’t even try. I wasted my time.

This used to be a decent app many moons ago. Over time it has become quite disgraceful! Lately it’s actually had the nerve to start giving me these notifications when I put the this app in process that say we haven’t finished uploading your photos. Please keep Hover open to complete your job. So what I am hearing is they want me to keep Hover open the entire couple of hours while it process and not to even lock my iPad for a second during that time. Pretty sad, I think the most embarrassing and shameful part is when I went to open my hovers I got on some roofs and all kinds of pictures for I open the this app and every one of those pictures just vanished into thin air. Want to hear something even better? Don’t even think about using any of your photos from your camera roll to hopefully go and upload into there like you could simply with any other app. It won’t let you UPLOAD PICTURES FROM YOUR CAMERA ROLL into the this app. If you guys have ever heard of a website called roof.r I would definitely start using it and then using the google photos app to go along with it that way you won’t have any buffoons making your jobs harder than it has to be!

Hover may be fine for single family homes on 1/4 acre or more zoning in the suburbs, but it doesn’t work well in neighborhoods where homes are clustered close by each other. I had to stand in the middle of the street with traffic going in both directions to snap a picture of the front of my house, and had to trespass on my neighbor’s yard (climbing over a fence) to get a photo of the rear. No way was I gonna put on a pair of coveralls and climb down into the crawlspace to snap a picture of the sump pump and HVAC unit. And I couldn’t follow Hover ’s instructions for taking a video without stepping into my next door neighbor’s shrubbery. Bottom line is this is a great way for the insurance company to make the homeowner do the work that otherwise it would have to pay a third-party inspector to do - although it may save time for those who don’t mind the hassle and have plenty of room around their property.

This is a very neat and powerful tool. With 18 simple photos that included fences and other stuff in the way, it was able to give me an model that appears very close to what my house looks like. Unfortunately, at least with the free homeowner version, you don’t get to see any measurements. I can’t verify the dimensions so I have no idea how accurate the model is.

Hover itself is a little clunky. It’s too easy to hit the wrong BACK button and jump out of model space. In addition, I feel like I should be able to touch the feature I want to change instead of trying to find it in the menu. For some reason doors also don’t appear in the menu so you can’t change those.

Lastly, the menu is brand based vs object/style based. Because of that, you have to know what brand you want before you can even choose a color or style. As a homeowner, my first concern isn’t brand but style and color. Brand is secondary.

Overall, powerful tool but the interface still needs some tweaking.

Let me say that Hover is really nice especially for being free. It can do a lot of stuff. But it freezes a ton, is missing loads of options, and is a jumbled mess at times. Sometimes you can do a full remodel by changing brick, rock, stone, siding, windows, and just about everything. Except doors. This is usually found in a tab called OPEN IN 3D. This tab isn’t always available. It comes and goes.

Then there is a tab called DESIGN IN 3D. You can do far less in this tab but you can change doors lol. You can’t change rock or brick or fascia or the roof from shingles to metal for example.

Again, for being free it’s an amazing app. The issues are so easily fixed and thus the three stars. A simple fix would be five stars.

Hover is great. You have to wait about a day once you complete the pictures but not an issue for the great 3D visual. The software is very easy to use with lots of options. There is room for improvement however. I would recommend adding an edit option as currently you can only place one type I.e. one roof type, not allowing metal and shingle or stone & siding on the walls. Being able to change garage door colors isn’t available and neither currently is doors. 4 stars for great software and ease of use just a shame it doesn’t have that 1/2/3 layer option for multiple wall / roof types

Not sure why I can’t change the siding direction. A lot of clients want to change from horizontal to vertical siding or vice versa and that should be an option. It would help a lot with letting the client know what the final look would be.
Another thought is to just have a siding only option and a siding/roofline option for payment since many clients just want that and not the roof.
Otherwise this is an amazing app and I use it every week. Thanks for all your work and please keep it up!

Update:

I climbed on the roof and took my own hand measurements. I’m changing my rating because many of those estimates were right, down to within 1” on 30 feet. So the windows were still off by quite a bit (4” on a 3’ window), I’m changing my rating because it was pretty good on the roof.

First impression: I am impressed by the tech, but the measurements for two of my houses were consistently off by 10%. My lazy insurance company, Travelers, stands by this app, so that means my insurance reimbursement is 10% low, too. If it was for fun, very cool. But when it’s your wallet on the line, don’t trust this “not ready for prime time” tool!

Just recently downloaded Hover and have been pretty impressed with everything it has to offer. However I don’t understand why it keeps freezing which then makes you have to give close out of your project right in the middle of you trying to add to your design. Which then makes you start all over again which is highly annoying, aggravating and frustrating. What are you going to help improve your apps glitch issues?! It would be nice to see what all Hover can offer a homeowner like myself who is really appreciative of having such a great product at your fingertips.

We have been working with this app for a few years now and love absolutely everything about it! It is so easy to use! This makes all other measurement software seem obsolete and over priced. Their staff is second to none! In my time with them I have had the pleasure of working with Garret Flowers and Casey Knuth. Both of them have treated us like their most important client. They take our questions and concerns and make sure that we are taken care of. Once you use this app, you will have no desire to use another measurement company ever.

I am very pleased with Hover overall! I have many times received the results before I’m even leaving the job. Now that I have used it many times I made a mistake today which prompted me to write this review. I took my photos and touched finish. In that moment I realized I took photos in the wrong file. It was too late! I was watching it upload and couldn’t stop it to make my correction. Once you have taken your photos and click the finish button there should be a way to cancel the upload. Surely, this is possible. Aside from this I am very pleased!

I’ve been an adjuster for almost 15 years and have tried several diagramming apps/programs over the years. Hover is hands down the best I have experienced to date. I hate to admit it, but I’m the type of person who generally has elevated expectations when trying out new products...to a point where I’m oftentimes less than pleased with the new product. Not only is it this app quick and simple to use, but it’s also highly accurate and is accompanied by a stellar support staff. I Would highly recommend Hover to anyone, and I rarely put my stamp of approval on many items such as this.

I was completely blown away with the simplicity of this application. I have always been interested in architectural design and civil engineering. I’ve wanted so badly to design homes and structures as not only a career but a passion as well . For the average design geek to be able to use a CAD program with such ease would be extremely costly- To put it into dollars and cents - the professional design programs can cost up to $9,000 . What this app does for the average “Joe” design geek is outstanding. this app delivers an application where one can literally design an entire home with ease and minimal effort. Hover is very instrumental in allowing first time business owners the opportunity to launch what can easily become an extremely lucrative business, Llc and or Corporation. This can all be done by any smartphone, device etc..at a very affordable price not to mention the completely free demo offered to get your design wheels turning while becoming acclimated with this app !!! I just can’t stop talking about this let alone showing everyone around me what I’m doing with such ease ! I would recommend it to any architect or designer and absolutely anyone in the construction field! Thank you this app

I am just a homeowner (not a pro contractor) with no 3d modeling experience. I needed a 3d model of my house to help me plan out my Christmas light display (using XLights). I downloaded the this app app and found it very easy and intuitive to use. It took less than 15 minutes to download Hover and take a dozen-ish photos of the house. Hover automatically submitted them and less than 24 hours later I had a very accurate 3d modeling of my home.
I had a little trouble exporting the model file in the right format, but the this app customer support was very helpful and responsive.

I could see that this would be an incredibly useful tool for a builder or contractor. 👍👍👍

I do not rate apps normally. However, this app and their team has gone above and beyond. How they do it, I don’t know, nor do I care to know, but they do it well. Snap some pictures, upload them, and wait. My turnaround time was just at an hour. Full 3D render of my home, with very very very close measurements that I would use to bid a job any day. I am just a tradesman. I’m not a sales person or a business owner, but if I was, Hover would be on every employees device. I had a question about my render and emailed the team. They were extremely quick, and very helpful. This is not a paid review, I just love Hover. For the price you pay, you cannot beat the convenience and precision of this app. Download it and go make the man some money.

As a large loss property adjuster recently assigned to a devastating total fire loss in a 6000 square foot home, I was faced with the challenge of a forensic estimate project from plans. When the township produced partial prints missing exterior drawings I knew I had a problem. Enter this app.

The only problem was, quite a bit of the subject property was gone, destroyed by the fire. But with a combination of careful photography of what was left, some pictures off the internet of the building pre-loss, and some pix of a similar neighboring home, the team at this app was able to complete an accurate report and 3D model of the building with all the measurements necessary to accurately estimate the replacement cost of the clients home.

What a great effort by the this app team and what a tremendous product! Thank you this app for helping me help put this family back in their new home as quickly as possible!

Hover is amazing! I’m going to start using it more often after I seen that it really works. I measured a roof with a tape measure and then used this app to see if the measurements were accurate on Hover . They are so close that I will start using Hover every time I give an estimate. The only problem I have is that I usually measure the roof and come up with an estimate right at that moment that I’m at the home owners house. With this app I have to wait 24hrs. That the only thing I would change about this app is the waiting time. I wish the measurements came instantly. You can’t get everything you want though right? This is a really great app though and I’ll be using it a lot more now that I know that it’s accurate. I love how I don’t have to get on those steep roofs now. I can just take a couple pics of the house and I’m done. Thanks this app for making my job a lot easier on me.

As a homeowner, I was preparing to do some siding and other work on our home. Trying to be sure that I’m not being overcharged by contractors overestimating materials, I was looking for an app that I could measure my home with. A Google search had several recommendations for this app.

I downloaded Hover , snapped 8 to 10 photos and uploaded them. Within a day, I had a very detailed 3-D model. I was able to go on Hover and select the manufacturer of my siding and the color choices. My wife and I had selected a blue colored siding and with the 3-D model, realized that the blue would not match the brick very well. So this most likely saved us from installing a siding color that we would regret.

On the home owner version of Hover , you do not receive the measurements. However, I was able to work with Adam and he assisted me in getting those and in resolving issues. Highly recommend Hover, even if just for creating the 3-D model without the measurements.

I’ve used it for 3 years in various roles from DIY to a professional roofing and siding contractor. The tear offs are accurate (as accurate as anyone I’ve ever seen with a wheel and a note pad). I relied on it to do 10 estimates a day for a awhile. The first few months my crews would consistently call worried they might be short and would 100% of the time be on the money with the Marisela they had. The interactive 3D model is a fantastic selling tool for a few reasons, it immediately makes the customer feel more comfortable and gives you a professional sales call, it guarantees that the customer and sales are on the same page with color and design choices, most importantly it give a tangible vision to additional sales rather than requiring a customer to have an imagination. As contractors offer we can see a project in our heads, a lot of homeowners don’t have that. This tool got me off the roof and into the living room.

Using the this app app and working with your support team has been an amazing experience. I wasn’t sure if the photos I submitted would make the “cut” as there were hardly any clear vantage points to get photos of the sides of the home; I had already selected “ the best that I can do” eight times, lol. So I thought that I would have to settle for the roof measurements only. I was wrong. Miriam and Adam stepped in, did their this app magic along with thorough costumer support and Voila! I received the roof measurements, openings as well as the siding & 3D diagram. Awesome Job! Under Promised Over Delivered.
