Warning - Social Media Sharing is not enabled

This application is fairly ok however it fails to deliver some key features which this mobile application is created for and advertising..... Sharing. Mixer clearly focuses on its ability to share its broadcasts through a wide range of social media outlets, however when an attempt is made to share, via Facebook or a “link” it does not work in the least. Although I enjoy sharing and broadcasting content especially when I am able to edit from online content for uploads, I would love to be able to share on the fly via social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. This can be an essential tool for those who make a career or as a hobby enthusiast however using Mixer further dampers and makes difficult of what could otherwise be an amazing sharing and broadcasting experience. I give this mobile application one star, for many reasons, mainly to grab the attention of serious broadcasters as well as developers in the hopes that they may
Improve Mixer and bring it up to the standards that we can enjoy and become much more productive as well as increase our followers and presence in the social community as a Gaming community. 1 Star

Great service, but UI is lacking.

Coming from a massive tech company such as Microsoft I expected less issues. Animations are laggy, especially when minimizing a stream into the bottom right corner of the screen (and vice versa). Also, when a stream is minimized/pulled down into the bottom right hand corner it sits snug above the applications bottom menu bar, however when you’re viewing streams within a game category the minimized stream window sits awkwardly in empty space since the menu bar is gone when in this list. Another thing to mention is that the color scheme is a bit dull. I get that highlighting the content is important the the whole entire UI is ONE COLOR which leaves the UI to feel lackluster or unappealing at times. It’s not bad, but it could be so much better if they added more colors/shades and many some differentiation between UI elements. Maybe that’s all personal preference but the application just doesn’t feel all that polished.

Glimpse of Potential

this app would be awesome if they’d fix some simple problems. There’s no way to make the overlay completely go away while you’re streaming. Ever try playing Cuphead with something blocking part of the screen? There’s also no way to scrub through your saved streams on Xbox One, so you can’t show people something in a stream unless you sit there and watch the entire stream. Also, when you find a streamer you like, there’s no way to friend them on Xbox live from their channel. Which is weird, since it’s now Microsoft’s streaming platform on their console. It can be a pain typing in crazy gamertags manually. The phone app is only good for watching streams, and that’s about it. As far as I can tell, you can’t even watch your past vods on it. This stuff shouldn’t be happening, this app has been out for awhile now and these are basic issues that should’ve been addressed. I hope they fix everything, because this app is really easy to fire up and stream from, and the platform is really solid with high quality streaming. -Kandarr

Very unresponsive

Problem 1: Mixer (phone) won't load my friends' broadcasts. Multiple of my friends, who are on different servers i.e. West coast and east coast and have great internet speeds, wanted to broadcast a madden gameplay but, when I clicked on one' channel it was a seemingly forever loading screen. I figured I'd try my other friend's but, it kept pulling me back to the channel I was first on. I closed Mixer and went to one the featured broadcast and it worked fine.
Problem 2: I tried to search for my friends' channel but, it was extremely difficult and I forget how exactly I did it however, when I typed in their gt EXACTLY how it's spelled nothing would pop up except the suggested channels.
I haven't been able to use the phone app successfully yet. I've tried on an iPad, iOS 11, first then tried on my iPhone 7, iOS 10.3.3, and neither would load my friends gameplay.
At first I wanted to see their game but, it got to the point where I wanted to troubleshoot and I came to the conclusion it cannot be useful on my handheld devices.

Mixer has some issues

this app does a fairly good job of streaming, but there are some issues to point out. First, on XBox, it doesn’t refresh the pages when you’ve been in this app for a while, so you end up with thumbnails that are just the “blue” ones. Then you have to force close Mixer and come back in. Second, the chat box used to scroll the text up as you type in it so you can always see what you are typing. It doesn’t do that anymore after this app was updated. Not sure why a perfectly good feature like that would be made worst. Now you can only see two lines worth of what you are typing and then it goes outside the chat box. Third, and most recently, if you open a multi stream party and try to expand the stream on the RIGHT, it will now only expand to a half window. Used to work fine before. this app team....please address these problems and stop creating more. This is a good app, but it’s being made worst by these flaws.

Disappointed

The most recent update has made me lose quite a bit of hope in the this app mobile app. I love this app. I’m on Mixer DAILY. But mobile has always made it complicated and things just went from bad to worse. Quality adjustments to as low as possible are a must if I want to watch a stream. Notifications such as calls, texts, or most frequently low battery notifications cause the stream to pause, inevitably resetting the stream quality causing me to jump through hoops to adjust again before the stream crashes. Before the update, if chat froze, I could pull the window down to minimize and pull back up to reopen and chat will reset and work again. But now doing this does absolutely nothing to chat and leaves it frozen, resulting in a complete restart of the stream which again brings the quality adjustments. I love supporting streamers with sparks, but it’s no fun trying to gain sparks having so much trouble on an app like this.

Good Content, Bad Broadcasting

I love the direction that this app is moving, which is why this is a 3-star review rather than a 1 star review. They are getting exclusive rights on some popular e-sports tournaments and they do a good job supporting those events from a branding and exposure perspective. That being said, the actual video broadcast is low quality. There is a lot of latency, a lot of audio drops, and frequently crashes. There is also an abysmal amount of options to try and combat this latency. First thing I thought when my video started freezing is, “well I’ll just turn off the chat.” Unfortunately that is not an option. You also cannot lower the video quality or turn off the audio stream. This lack of solutions to the latency issue and the latency itself can make streams almost unwatchable, but I trust this app to fix it at somepoint.

Twitch is Better

It makes sense because twitch has been around longer, but I expected more from a company more than capable of copying what twitch does and doing it well. I literally cannot believe how Mixer got a 4 or higher rating. UI is klunky and it doesn’t load well. VODs/Videos of past streams? Where are they? Why don’t they load immediately on a creators page? Why isn’t your continue watching saved? (Like it is on twitch) Why can you only follow creators and not save games to your followed? Basically I don’t want to rely on your software (probably a horrible rip off of Netflix’s suggestion software same way Mixer is of twitch) in order to find the content I want to watch. A lot of this feedback doubles on your Xbox this app application which I have also used. Seriously Microsoft? You have so much money, why does everything you make have bugs?

The Streaming Experiences

I’m not the biggest streamer, no, but I enjoy the community that has been built on this app. It’s about the friendliest people gathered in one place, on one platform. The FTL is amazing, but there’s always one problem. Streaming from the Xbox... the console this platform is based around. You can have overlays now with LightStream, but it says it’s 720p, but for me it’s about 480p. It has glitches changing scenes and whatnot. I just want to be able stream from a stable 3rd party integration that has overlays and all sorts of things, like OBS. I know, I know, it’s a work in progress and it’s coming along, but for now, 4 Stars is the experience - from a streamers point of view. Viewing wise? 5. Definitely more interactive than Twitch. Great job so far though! ~ BootheBoys

Get it!!!

A while ago I said Mixer is good for watching streams but lacks critical functionality which prevents it from being perfect... that is largely taken care of. The current version of Mixer supports FTL, chat moderation capabilities, and has been fully incorporated with the Season 2 at launch... I am shocked though that you still do not see a sub button within Mixer . Mixer is not perfect again... but it has taken great steps forward and deserves 5 stars. this app is a fantastic streaming platform. This is a great companion application.

Better than Twitch but still some bugs

This interface is more user-friendly than Twitch… And a lot smoother for streaming and quality than twitch. The only problem I have is with Mixer . I am unable to do a lot of the things on Mixer that I am able to do on the computer. For example, hosting and following buttons tend to not work at all even though you can see them. Also, it would be great if you could see your own home page without having to search yourself.

Other than that- this app is the way of the future and the interactive buttons for watchers make it a more fun viewing and hosting experience alike.

Past broadcasts are almost unwatchable

Past broadcasts are almost unwatchable, because you can’t change the quality of the video. Why make a mobile app if the user needs to have a fast WiFi speed to watch anything. Mixer just maxes out the user’s data and once that happens good luck using Mixer anywhere except from home (which defeats the purpose of having a mobile app) You can change the video quality while watching a live stream so why can’t you do the same with a past broadcast? Also when you are trying to skip to a certain part of a past broadcast it will repeatedly restart the video. This happens on both the iPhone and Xbox app. Please fix this so that people who live in different time zones can still watch the stream when they miss it due to the time difference.

Much potential if you let me use my regular email

Lots of complication just want to sign into my email account I didn’t realize which it was I put the wrong one now it’s making me go through a lot of trouble and won’t load etc etc I just want to stream on the clutch app as well as this app please help ASAP

I had a typo in my email address I put gmail instead of outlook.. now I press “fix it here” under typo in email address and the button doesn’t work.. cmon man I’m in the middle of my life stream right now trying to broadcast on another platform I’m using you guys now but I want to also use clutch app and more and I need to have it verified please

If fixed soon will go back to 5 star☝🏼👌🏼

Mixer service seems good, app needs work

Please add better scrolling/skipping functionality. Scrubbing through a 8-10 hour stream recording is inaccurate and frustrating with the playback indicator along the timeline. At least add variable speed scrolling by moving higher or lower on screen, as in iOS video playback. Better yet, please at skip forward and backwards by 30s/10s by swiping/tapping/double tapping as in Twitch and YoutTube apps.

Also, it’s really annoying that playback on a recorded stream does not resume at the time I left off when leaving Mixer . Please make it so playback resumes at the correct location when coming back continue watching instead of starting over from the beginning.

Something else that’s odd is that under my “following” page it doesn’t show any of the people I’m following. It only shows recommendations. The only way I can get to the streamers pages I want is to search their name every time.

The service itself seems pretty solid. Stream quality is good, etc. However, Mixer is lacking in some key areas.

Good app, but some issues.

Mixer is good but it’s not great. There are some annoying issues that should be fixed in future updates. One being an issue where past broadcasts are unable to be watched. Sometimes it just errors out and you have to shut Mixer down and restart. Another is organization. Once logged in, there is no direct icon or link to hit in order to get to your own channel. You have to manually search for it as if you are searching for a stream to watch. Very annoying. What would fix all these issues is if they incorporate the mobile this app site into a an app with Mixer feel and aspects. Problem solved. The mobile site is nice.
