Playground Buddy Reviews

The concept is neat, but I would love to see a filter to show playgrounds that offer inclusive playground equipment for kids with disabilities. (If it’s there, I couldn’t find it). I do see when you add a park you can check off a few accessibility notes - but i would love to see it show playgrounds that actually have equipment that a child in a wheelchair or mobility issue or other disability can access and play with (wheelchair accessible merry go rounds, etc) - not just swings. Parents of kids with disabilities (and parents and grandparents with disabilities) know just how few parks with inclusive equipment exist, and this would be a very valuable tool if it included such a filter! Also, I noticed that the Spark Parks are left off PlaygroundBuddy. Spark Parks are community parks located at public schools that are open to anyone in the general public after regular school hours, and on weekends and holidays. I added one…
Lastly, I tried to submit this feedback through PlaygroundBuddy itself, but just got a blank screen.

Thank you for taking the initiative to create this user-friendly app. Love knowing where playgrounds are in my neighborhood and city without the need for extensive detective work.

As the parent of a toddler, and a second one on the way, I’ve become something of an evangelist for PlaygroundBuddy since I downloaded it a few weeks ago. I was excited enough to make a Facebook Live video about it, letting other parents know this great app exists. Now I don’t just take my son to a playground to burn off steam for his sake - it’s just as exciting for me to pin a new playground to PlaygroundBuddy map and take a photo so other parents can discover playgrounds for themselves. Doing my part in Miami, FL! We need more contributors! This is my version of Pokémon - gotta catch em all! Ha! We’ll get there in Miami!

I am new to PlaygroundBuddy and LOVE being able to add my own photos and edit details about the playgrounds. We are now checking out all of the nearby playgrounds and updating the system as we go. Favoriting playgrounds is great, and I would like to be able to rate them for other moms. For example, if a playground feels unsafe or dirty, the rating system would help other moms.

I had no idea about PlaygroundBuddy until I learned about it on a rabbit hole about planning a trip.. this is a very valuable tool for any parent who loves to get outside with their kids and go to the park, or taking a road trip like us were able to see where we can stop to play along the way!! I hope this gets more attention in the future and more great things are to come for you all, great idea!!

Minor bug: when adding notes, the text shows up black on black background (maybe because of iOS dark theme?)

I LOVE PlaygroundBuddy!! I swear I keep telling everyone I know about it. I wish this was made when I nannied because we would just drive around aimlessly looking for a cool park!
I’m always talking about how neat PlaygroundBuddy is and how you can search for certain things if you want.
It’s easy to use, and FREE!

I’m in love with PlaygroundBuddy! I really enjoy exploring new parks and finding all the unique styles, and PlaygroundBuddy makes that a breeze. The crowd-sourcing feature is wonderful too so I can edit or add to any parks we visit. Our local city doesn’t seem to have many users so I’ve been having fun entering the info for all the parks we explore ourselves.

When you first sign in and it locates you- it says “no playgrounds found”. You have to zoom out and then you’ll see some location markers. When you click on one you get an “id number” and the location on a map. That’s it. No name. No photos. No description; oh except for “we don’t have a lot of information on this playground”. If you click on “get directions” it will open Apple Maps… wow. I wish I could give it 0 stars.

I love the idea and concept of PlaygroundBuddy. I’d love to see you get more sponsors in order to get more updated information and pictures for the different parks!

Absolutely great idea. Have already used it with great success. Would be nice to also have a satellite view, as well as adjusting some of the top buttons as they don’t jive well will iPhone 11+

Would love to use PlaygroundBuddy in my area by it says no playgrounds exists which isn’t the case. Can someone look into updating?

Almost 2 years of trying multiple apps, asking neighbors, and exploring were almost useless in comparison to the first few days of running Playground Buddy. Wherever I am, the application maps nearby playgrounds accurately, allowing me to have more fun with my kids. The only reason this did not get the full five stars was because the ads on the bottom are very sensitive and will activate when trying to enter parking and special notes on 'favorite' playgrounds. This happens often enough that I've stopped bothering to add those two categories, usually just marking it as a favorite and moving on...

PlaygroundBuddy is all but useless. We’ve only been in this community for two weeks and we already know where more playgrounds are than are featured in PlaygroundBuddy. No pictures. Just hasn’t attracted contributors. Because it’s basic.

All I had to do for a download PlaygroundBuddy and see that there is no useful information.

Playground Buddy is simple to use and the interface contains helpful information. There's a place for photos and comments about each playground, including check boxes that note if the playground has a play structure, sandbox, slide, swings, restrooms, etc. As the parent of a toddler, I particularly like that there's a place to note if a playground has special toddler swings.

I can see how PlaygroundBuddy will be invaluable when traveling with kids.

If your area is blank, it just means that no one has started entering playground there yet. PlaygroundBuddy is free, so it would be great to have more contributions!

Great app and features, missing the ability to upload user photos in addition to Street View photo.

We are going on a long road trip and I needed something to help me find playgrounds on the fly for my little boys to let off some energy. I tested it in our neighborhood and PlaygroundBuddy immediately found at least two dozen parks to choose from. I like that users may add new locations and I added two parks which we like, but weren't in PlaygroundBuddy . This will be a great help on the trip.

App is a little glitchy, shuts down randomly at times, but it’s such a great resource I hardly even mind! We’re looking forward to many more adventures with playground buddy leading the way!

(Note to developers: I would happily pay a few dollars for PlaygroundBuddy to help iron out the wrinkles.)

I found PlaygroundBuddy while we were on our 26 hour RV trip with two littles. PlaygroundBuddy came in so handy, we were able to find a playground along our route and the kids could play while I made lunch or dinner. This was truly a life saver!!

Love PlaygroundBuddy and actually enjoy editing parks that are in my area. Great for travels and needing to let the kids run without going crazy on Google maps.
