Mapstr, save & share places Reviews

I have been searching for years of a way to keep track of the fabulous food scene of Chicago. Mapstr is the best app to do that. Tagging by neighborhood, cuisine, chef, great rooftop etc etc has been super helpful for me to be able to easily pull up great options that meet my criteria. Many friends and family contact me because they know I’ll have great recommendations on where they should go because of mapstr. I love how there’s now more room for a restaurant description. More detail has helped so much! I also love that I can include links to online articles about the place so I can easily find more info. Super excited to continue to add more locations to my mapstr!!

Mapstrsaveshareplaces used to be fantastic but the recent changes to it have been fairly detrimental
Firstly when I open Mapstrsaveshareplaces I don’t want/care about a news page, everyone is clearly only using it for the map section
Secondly the performance has taken a hit recently, I used to be able to speed through different saved places but now there is a second lag when selecting/deselecting places
The centre arrow button… hitting that should always just centre on your location, move the ‘centre elsewhere’ button somewhere separate
Basically I used to love Mapstrsaveshareplaces and recommend to everyone because it was so smooth and easy to use and had such a clean interface, it’s not the same anymore

Mapstr is perfect for planning a vacation. The endless lists of recommended hot spots - from friends, family, travel magazines -come to life in a map, and with the proximity alerts, you won’t miss a thing as you wander around a new city. The interface is easy to navigate and beautiful. We absolutely love the custom tagging for easy filtering, and we can add a comment for each spot noting how we learned about it. Check out Mapstr’s Facebook page for recommended ambassadors to follow. I’m also using Mapstrsaveshareplaces to share recommendations in our neighborhood for our house guests. Highly recommended!

I never write app reviews but the team behind Mapstr should know they have impacted my life for the better by developing it. I live in NYC and keeping track of "that one place we went to last month with the great dessert" has been a problem in my life for years. Google is still behind and Apple has no real solution. In comes Mapstr with the radically simple idea of tagging locations and utilizing a strong set of integrations with other services instead of reinventing the wheel.

I'm looking forward to seeing development continue and what other features the team cooks up. There is definitely room for improvement here and the potential monetization strategies in the future will hopefully propel Mapstrsaveshareplaces forward without intrusive in-app ads.

Features I want:
- Yelp integration; I want to see yelp ratings /
- Public maps; I want to be able to share a map with a friend without them joining; double edged sword for growth I realize though /
- Map-view search /
- Redesigned tagging; the tagging interface could use some TLC from a ux maestro /
- More releases; keep on developing!!

Just got Mapstrsaveshareplaces and the first place I added shows the correct address on the listing, but shows up in the wrong place (a few miles away) in the map. I added a couple more that seemed to be accurate. But by the 7th one, the opposite error, is shows up in the right place on the map, but has the wrong address (completely different state this time) and even name of the restaurant wrong.

Seems like a cool idea for an app, but I haven’t even added 10 things yet and I’ve already run into two big errors with their database. I reported the errors to Mapstr through their app, so we’ll see if they get fixed, but that many problems right off the bat doesn’t bode well.

Mapstrsaveshareplaces definitely fills a gap! I love the ability to add any location and tag it however I want. Auto complete searching for a point of interest works great. Here are the issues... Tag colors are light colors with white text - impossible to read. The sharing and invite experience is downright terrible. You can't collaborate on a shared list - you can only view another's account as if you were signed in as that person. Invites don't work right away and cause confusion - especially when Mapstrsaveshareplaces insists on inviting someone when you're already connected, adding them twice. Initial user name is random and not immediately discoverable, adding more invite confusion. Love the idea though!

I love Mapstr and have been using it for a few years now. Maps are important to me when I travel and having Mapstrsaveshareplaces suits my way of organizing the things I read or hear about that I want to visit. It’s also handy in LA where I live, since there are cool things to see and eat in many neighborhoods that may be off my beaten path. In Paris last fall I was able to easily see places that I had been plugging in rather than going thru a folder full of old clippings and then not knowing where they were, my previous method of saving good ideas. Very useful!

For over 30 years, I've been collecting matchbooks from places I've been to from around the world...restaurants, pubs, hotels, etc. I literally have hundreds of matchbooks. I've been looking for an app to somehow organize and visually track all the places I've been to. No App from major maps companies (Apple, Google, MapQuest) has the functionality and features that Mapstr has. I like how if the restaurant I went to 20 years ago is no longer around, I can manually enter the name and address and a photo so that it shows up ok the map. Great job Mapstr!!!

Mapstrsaveshareplaces lets me create my own maps to save places that I either have been and want to go visit locally or out of state. So far I’m up to over 100 places from jazzy coffee shops to hang out spots to amazing food. The best part is that wherever I go, it lists the closest locations to where I am. Like if we go back to Vegas, i have my go to spots, every time I go home to New Orleans, I pull up my map and it shows me all of my saved places starting with closest to furthest away. I have maps in about 5 states so far. I use it all the time!

I love Mapstr, it is so useful in my everyday life! Very easy to use and so practical! Being able to add tags to every places you save on Mapstrsaveshareplaces makes it super customizable and practical. I no longer have 100 notes on my phone with restaurants ideas my friends talked to me about or that I saw a month ago in a magazine: all these places are on my Mapstr, ready to be tried! Also, being able to take inspos on my friend’s maps is what makes it much better than any other app!

I love Mapstrsaveshareplaces. I use it for tracking all the places I want to try when I travel (and new hot spots in my hometown), as well as recommendations from friends. But the main reason I love Mapstrsaveshareplaces is because I’m a Celiac and have to be very careful about where I eat. With Mapstr, I do all my research about a city I’m traveling to, save gluten-free friendly restaurants with a “gluten free” tag, and turn on location alerts. This way, when I’m there, I can get alerts when I’m near restaurants that are safe for me. Wonderful!!

I love Mapstrsaveshareplaces. I use religiously!!!! I think that if offers many capabilities that are not available through Google maps.

Just a few suggestions on things to add :
1. Have another section to each tag that is a “star system”. You can rank each item from 1 to 5 or 1 to 10. This way the user can still put all restaurants and locations they have been but be able to filter out by which ones are their favorite!

2. Be able to group tags together. These will fall under one main tag with lower level categories in subtags. For example, you can have a main tag called “restaurants” and then under that would be sub tags for types of restaurants. It would be way easier to read the side bar!:)

3. Capability to select an area on your app and see what’s the most highly tagged locations in that area.
Overall though a great app:)

I love Mapstrsaveshareplaces! I’ve been using it to keep track of places I want to visit all over the world. It’s awesome. Super easy to use and fully functional. Great dev as well. I have two suggestions: a colorblind mode and a tip option. The tags get very difficult to read if you’re colorblind. And, for people that really don’t need premium features, it’s be nice to be able to support the development with a tip now and again.

Such a no-brainer! Before, I have used/shared a Google Map with friends for my recommended spots, but that was so clunky, annoying to update and doesn’t translate well to mobile. Mapstrsaveshareplaces is the exact opposite. Love the interface. The tags are my favorite. They’ve thought of everything!
I have only encountered one bug, one night it wasn’t allowing me to add places. It was recognize the name in the search bar, but then I’d get an error message when I hit add. Strange, but only once so far.

A “must have” app for the travelers out there! Stop collecting business cards or fly-notes about that restaurant, gym, hotel or else that you like during your business or leisure travel! Download Mapstrsaveshareplaces and you have it all there! You can have tags, addresses, free comments... anything you need to remember the places that you love and where you want to come back! Believe me, you won’t be disappointed!!

You,ve created a log book and don’t seem to realize it. Many of the reviews are mentioning how Mapstrsaveshareplaces allows them to store places. There’s no other app that does this purposefully. I collect Sacred Sites around the world with it. Rather than touting tracking friends, I recommend you pitch your app as saving special places, which includes friends, and that refined identity will attract new users. Well done. Most great solutions occur by accident. 😉

I love Mapstrsaveshareplaces - I especially like the way it allows me to track locations that I want to remember to visit the next time I am traveling to a location, or even to keep track of cool spots and highly-rated restaurants in my hometown, with tags and/or “you are nearby alerts” to help me find them when I finally get around to checking them out. Highly recommend!

I have iPhone 12 Pro Max with latest iOS and am currently in Singapore. I love Mapstrsaveshareplaces a lot and it’s exactly what I want except the gps doesn’t work. The precise location doesn’t work either and doesn’t notify me when I’m nearby even though I enabled it. The support couldn’t resolve this. Such a pity because this would be great in singapore and Asia but I can’t recommend it if the main feature doesn’t work here. The company should really look into it.

I super duper LOVE Mapstrsaveshareplaces and use it for all kinds of things- planning travel, keeping track of where I've traveled, restaurants, bars, etc. Mapstrsaveshareplaces is solid and I haven't had much trouble with it. I love being able to share map locations with friends! I also really love the integration with rideshare apps and other map apps for directions. Fantastic all the way around!

Using this for door knocking and managing area, do you think on an update you can add the feature to see your areas along with all of your friends saved areas all on the same map? Would be awesome to see all areas at the same time without having to switch to all your different friends. Other than that, great app thank you nothing else like it out there
