Tested out for an hour tonight then spring for full App version spending $4.99 and an hour on my iPad just trying to outline a preliminary design scheme needed, only to find only one scale available = km but soldiered on thinking I’d adjust from decimal km to imperial inches & feet manually once printed out, but then was interrupted to urgently update my iOS security settings only to find that I was already all up to date with so-called Graphpaper App my iOS security settings, then returned to this Graphpaper App only to find all my saved work there has vanished. Returned to App Site to download PDF Operating Manual only to find many “fully paid App option$” already paid for by me Not Available to me. Complete waste of time, effort, and $$$ plus I can only suspect Graphpaper App of scamming hacking fake ware! Caveat Emptor!! Would-be Buyers Beware!!!

App is unusable and support does nothing

I’ve been using DraftPaper for over a year now and made some masterpieces but it has always had some issues with crashing and loosing work sometimes, until the past couple weeks where it’s gotten worse and worse and it’s now completely non functional. I can’t delete, make, or save anything without a 10 second lag for every move, freezing for 5 seconds, and a crash within 1 minute of trying, then having to restart because nothing saves. I don’t think I even have much work on here but have still deleted some hoping to make it better and it just gets worse every time I open DraftPaper . The last project I finished took hours more than it should’ve and I’m just at my end. The whole app just spoiled and I contacted support over a month ago with no response

Has become difficult to use

DraftPaper had been great for making my own crochet patterns so I have a better picture of what the product will look like. I would prefer more color options, but that’s not a big deal. A while back it would crash on me off and on and I would lose progress. I contacted support and for a bit it seemed to be fixed. Now it’s doing it again, but worse. I don’t remember how I contacted support before because I can’t find anything more than information on how DraftPaper “works”. I don’t write many reviews but I thought this one needed it. I read a few others over the years about this same issue, so it seems to be ongoing or repeating at least. I got it to save money instead of buying pads of draft paper, but I’m not sure it’s worth it anymore.

Freezes When Export

DraftPaper is very convenient to use with great drawing tools, but with a few bugs. When you try to undo something, it undoes more than the last step. And if you try to redo (to undo your undo), it leaves things a bit out of sorts, ie: items missing and layer colors changed.

My biggest trouble is that when I go to export a dxf, it freezes. So I can’t use my work except in isolation of my one device. And if I try to download/upload to iCloud, the option remains greyed out even though iCloud syncing is turned on in settings, iOS 14.5 and 14.6

If export/import worked as expected, I’d give this 5 stars. Otherwise great for sketching out ideas, but not at all for sharing or developing ideas. :.[

Okay

DraftPaper could easily be five stars but the issues I run into are really frustrating. If you have a line that’s 10ft, zoom in then add 6in, and then measure the line, it just says 10ft. If I run a line and then make squares at intervals I cannot delete the lines within the square by lining them. If I hit delete, it deletes the entire line. It’s really great food some basic stuff but it could be so much better. I have yet to find another app like this that is mostly as easy as this and does what you can do but it has so many little quirks that just make it frustrating to use. I’d like to be able to maybe choose how I want a line measure no matter the zoom so that I can more easily measure a line in inches from the foot view, etc.

It's okay... with quite a few issues

This was the best "free app" I could find and is probably your best option... but it has quite a few issues. First of all, I drew a few things and then DraftPaper updated (I'm assuming) and when I returned, my drawings got zoomed out and I couldn't edit them because they were too small. I had to delete DraftPaper because it was useless unless I wanted to restart. Plus, you can't label anything. When you try to, the words are never in the right place and the words change when you zoom in and out. I would only recommend DraftPaper if you plan to use it temporarily because the "paper" you have to draw on gets filled up quickly and you can't draw anymore once it's filled up.

Great! But a few issues

I have been using DraftPaper for a while now. It may not have the most intuitive interface in the world but with a little exploration, it's quite easy to get a handle on.

The biggest issue I have with DraftPaper is once you go past 10cm. Any smaller than that and the grid shifts and makes for imprecise line placement. Also, when a circle, arc, or typed character is drawn, the vertices don't line up with any vertices of the grid no matter how small you go. This makes it very difficult to use the select/translate/rotate/scale tools with circles, arcs, and characters.

A couple other things that might be nice to see in DraftPaper are: the ability to color fill enclosed shapes, and the ability to group two or more lines together in a way that allows for the selection of one line to automatically select all other lines in the grouping.

Awesome app, I even bought the extra slots

So I bought DraftPaper because I play a board/RPG called Pathfinder. It’s similar to D&D, so this is not only for entertainment, but also for accurate sketches of maps for my game. This works very well for this purpose, and also is a great way to spend time creatively. The only suggestion I have is to make the pixels get infinitely small, maybe as an exclusive feature to those who have bought all features, because this allows for even more intricate designs. There are a few bugs (unless it’s just me), but they are manageable.
Thank you for making DraftPaper, it is a great app for blueprints and similar purposes, or even just for fun!

Is very good, but could use an update

3-D that would be dope
But thank you for not having a subscription fee. That is the only reason why I purchased this. Thank you very much for making it kind of simple. The only difficult part is actually placing her lines correctly and having a small enough finger to see past it which I do not have that is not the problem of, the nice people who made this but my genetics I still do think that this is a very helpful app as a 14-year-old please please make it have a 3-D option or at least like layers if that’s even in here I don’t know cause I have not found it yet. Thank you for your time.

Great 2D Drafting App

Draft Paper completely matches its name, anything you can do on real draft paper, you can do in DraftPaper; only better. It’s super easy to use and being able to draw floor plans, basic woodworking plans and any other drawing you need where measurements are important DraftPaper can do. The measuring capabilities of this plan are on par with very expensive CAD programs. Additionally, if your skills include drawing in 3D on paper, you can do it in DraftPaper .
It also offers layers, colors, fast geometric object and great arch’s which easily curve either direction. The snap to grid is another nice feature to have. Overall, a fantastic drafting tool.
Unfortunately, DraftPaper does crash and you have to restore purchase. Additionally, even though I purchased the top version, it doesn’t acknowledge that, so some features are still locked. I’d like to export to PDF, but it thinks I haven’t paid and ask me for money each time. Totally annoying. Hope the developers fix these 2 issues and make this a 5-star app.

No Support

I like this application and have used it to design two homes that we have then sent our drawings to an architectural engineer to render into CAD. Unfortunately the more detailed (bigger) the designs become the more the application slows down and begins to freeze or close. I have accepted this as it’s still the best application I have found to render home designs.

Recently, in an attempt to hopefully remove the laggy and buggy operation as my plans progressed, I downloaded and saved the file into a PDF with the intent to clear the active application and then upload it back. While the option to upload exists it DOES NOT actually allow you to do so. I went directly to the developers website and downloaded their PDF operation manual and again even though follow directs was unable to upload to the application.

I am writing this review as I have emailed them directly now two times with no response and no support. As anyone would
Imagine, I am frustrated having paid for the premium services and having spent 10’s of hours designing a home which I can no longer work on as the application will not permitting as advertised.

Finally an autocad app that doesn’t take you over the coals!

This is a solid easy to use app. I did not experience any crashes. It is great to sketch your ideas while in bed with an iPad. While not as fully featured as subscription based apps it gets the job done accurately. I cant stand all the monthly fee apps in the world today… I use an app . 3 months later I may wish to use it again .. that would be like 30$ each time I wanted to use an app. After 15 years of iPhone usage 1st app review. I didn’t need to pay 4.99 to unlock all the layers but but wanted to support the developer for 5$ . But the free version has no adds and will totally get the job done.

Great App, but....

This is a great app, but it keeps crashing.
You can do a little work for awhile, but for no apparent reason, it will suddenly crash and whatever you was working is lost.
I am having to manually close DraftPaper about every 30-45 seconds to insure that what I am working on gets saved.
I purchased DraftPaper because it worked great, up until I started getting a lot more detail in the bigger projects. Now it acts like it is out of memory, hence the sudden crashes.
Please fix whatever is causing this. It seems like most other apps I frequently use get periodic updates, but I have yet to see any updates or patches for this one.

This App Is Really Helpful

I use DraftPaper to get a good sense of space and design little houses from scratch. The simplicity of just having the ways to draw in here is great and much more versatile than I expected at first. I’m especially glad to not have to deal with inserts like toilets (one, they’re easy to draw yourself; two, it clutters the workspace) and instead have lots of real estate to work on multiple projects without restriction.

I do wish I could save different projects in different files or something like that instead of having it all on one sheet, but if I border everything per project, it’s easy enough to find what I’m working on.

Works for me on iPad Air & iPhone 6

(Edit: as one noted he can't change font size? Zooming in on plan changes it because you are typing closer and smaller. Experiment!) It helps to be a little construction or architect intuitive. That mostly helps with less erasing! ;). I have no technical issues with this AP at all. Practice all features to see what they do, basically it is lines and boxes. In beginning I was a little confused that the box also cuts a line, but that was me. We are moving to a new home we are remodeling. I have always hand drawn grids and cut out little furniture from graph paper to help me see what goes where or make decisions what to keep. The layers on this is great and that they can be different colors and are numbered! Some things are double tap and spin the dial for more options. Totally worth the $1 to save and expert. A great tool to plan dimensions. I can visualize everything else. I don't need a 3D program just where will our furniture fit and what would an internal wall if moved would do. Thanks for creating!

Great but Frustrating

I adore DraftPaper, I needed something simple to be able to design carpentry projects & also for floor plans/furniture layouts etc. I bought DraftPaper outright a long time ago, I was thrilled when they added all the new features but the big let down about the update is this: it constantly gets stuck/freezes when trying to move highlighted items it also out right DELETES several layers after having spent hours designing them! This last incident of major work loss prompted me to leave a review in hopes the developers will fix this frustrating problem. I just spent 4 hours drafting out a pond/waterfall layout & just as I finished it & set my ipad aside it go get a drink, when i came back DraftPaper had deleted everything I had done since I picked it up. :/

Draft Paper

I bought the paid version at $4.99. BAD mistake! These people do NOT support their product. I had well over a hundred hours in drawing house plans and the program developed a delay that made using it impossible. Finally, for some unfathomable reason ALL my work disappeared! I decided that there was no reason not to delete DraftPaper and try to upload the DXF file. I have a copy as a DXF file that I emailed from the program. But now there is apparently no way to upload that back to DraftPaper ! Beginning two weeks ago I sent multiple messages requesting help. NO RESPONSE! Don’t waste your time like I did.

Works great

It definitely works to do what it says it’s supposed to do. I would like to make some suggestions though, which should be fairly simple to update DraftPaper...
•COPY•
I would really love to see a select/copy and paste object, much like the select and move button. It would make things a lot easier, especially when trying to draw more than one of the same object or structure.
•FLIP•
It would be great if we were able to select objects, so that they can be flipped in other directions... not flip the entire drawing (unless selected) but, say just one room or countertop etc.
•OPEN•
I’m unable to upload a photo that I’ve saved myself.
•COLLABORATE•
Need to be able to make changes or tweak a drawing that someone else has done, using DraftPaper. which would help dramatically when trying to collaborate on a room or building, with someone...my husband is overseas and we’re trying to work together to come up with a blueprint for building a new home.

Please update DraftPaper with these changes!!! Thank you!

Perfect for DIY

I've been doing some pretty intense DIY home projects and bought an iPad to help with sketching. I tried Sketchup, several note-taking apps, and eventually gave up and resorted to drafting everything on graph paper. I eventually found this, and it is absolutely perfect. I've never been compelled to review an app before, but DraftPaper saved my iPad from becoming a $1500 paper weight. I've been able to use this to submit drawings for permits, get structural engineers to sign off on work, etc. So easy to use. Zero learning curve - it's the only app I've tried that works like I'd expect it to. Flawless.

Way better than default Apple tools

I was trying to use the default note app to create a house plan and it was frustrating and I was getting nowhere. DraftPaper is a godsend. Simple enough to be able to learn in ten minutes yet feature rich enough to get a real house plan done. One thing that isn’t obvious is that you need to go to layers view and disable the graph by clicking on that icon, in order to make any shapes or lines that aren’t 1m because everything just snaps to grid., which is 1m. Also it isn’t intuitive how to, for example save a square which is the shape of the house to file slot 1 and then make a duplicate of that same file into slot 3, so you can design multiple rooms using the same template. But you’ll figure it all out in about 15 minutes via trial and error and reading the instruction manual.
