Doesn’t log full trip, keeps disconnecting

CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor will not log if you are not on the sensors screen. If you want to keep the log info, you have to email it to yourself, it won’t save to any cloud service you may have. Also, if you switch to another app then back, CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor restarts and half the time will not connect back to the OBDII adapter. I am using the OBDLink MX+. I was going to buy the desktop version for my MacBook, but won’t be wasting the money since it probably has the same lack of stability as the iOS app. I paid for the year of PRO, but cancelled that so I don’t get charged again. If I had known there were these issues, I would have tried the monthly subscription, but wanted to save money and go for the year. An app that charges a monthly and yearly subscription fee should work much better than this one does.

In response to the developers response, I have another app that works fine in the background with the OBDII adapter. I have other apps that have no problem running in the background either. Also, logging is important to me. I have a phone that has no issue with storage, so having the option to have it log the entire trip and store it to iCloud or another cloud based storage platform shouldn’t be an issue. You could make it an option that could be turned on or off by the end user instead of deciding what we need.

What a waste of money!

I needed to reset my check engine light after a repair. I bought an OBD device, and downloaded CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor per their recommendation. The free features were mostly useless. I had to pay $4.99 for a one month subscription to gain access to the feature to reset my codes. I was able to do that. I decided to see what other diagnostics I could run with this paid feature. It was 100% worthless. So I paid $5 to reset my check engine light. Cheaper than the dealer, but a complete waste of money.

If you want actual diagnostics, buy a better adapter that works with a better app than this.

Paid for lifetime access, now wants payments

When I downloaded CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor, I paid for a lifetime premium full access subscription . CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor worked better than expected. Now CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor is asking for a monthly/yearly subscription to gain full premium access. I go to the restore my subscription, it restores my subscription, then asks for payment to gain full access . Please restore my lifetime full premium access subscription.

This app

I buy the year subscription. When I turn my car off and close CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor , the next day I get back in the car it’s takes awhile to connect. Now it not me out of my account and after trying to log back in, it won’t let me. And resetting your password is a piece of crap. They never send the link to your email for you to reset it. Nothing like paying for something that you use and the support is not responding

Doesn’t connect anymore

I bought the OBD2 connector thinking that was all I needed to clear codes. Turns out it was not. You have to pay for the subscription to clear them. I have a hanging sensor so I needed to constantly clear so I gave in. It was all fine the first few months. Now it take me 20+ times to try and connect. They updated CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor and it has been junk ever since.

I was able to connect automatically with other apps. It’s not the device that is having the issue. I moved on to a different app that will work with no problems.

useless without premium upgrade

this tool does pretty much nothing without upgrading to the premium subscription. And it’s not clear that it will be able to reprogram the BMW after installation of a new battery either. Note after using this tool my engine light came on for no reason. Prior to using this tool,There was no engine light and no diagnostic codes. After using this tool the engine light came on but I was unable to reset it. Still no codes were being reported. I would not use this tool again.

GARBAGE

CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor is absolute garbage!!! When it would connect to the Veepeak adapter that it says is supported it would only stay connected for about 30 seconds and then it would disconnect. I bought a monthly subscription and got absolutely no extras for buying the subscription!!! We tried to hook it up to 10 different vehicles at our shop and it would only hook up to two but it would always disconnect. Does not display very much mode 06 data and it definitely doesn’t decipher it. I could buy a cheap $20 hand scanner that would display more mode 06 data and it would decipher it. I would recommend the Car Scanner app from CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor Store. It has tons more features and displays much more information for absolutely free. Thankfully I only lost five bucks on CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor and I would recommend to anyone NOT to buy this absolute piece of garbage app!!! It looks like it was put together in about five minutes. Extremely disappointed in this useless app!!!

And NO, my adapter is not malfunctioning. We used seven different adapters and CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor kept disconnecting from each one. So clearly this is a piece of garbage app and also it’s very clear that nobody likes CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor. In fact they hate it. Just read your own reviews!!!

Had less that 24 hours and was refused a refund of $20

I tried processing a refund less than 24 hours of purchasing the pro version due to the obd2 device I purchased i sent back due to not working right and don’t plan on ordering another one
When I try to process the refund it denied me on it Now I’m out $20
CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor support emailed me saying the $20 is non refundable and directed me to the FAQs number 25 which states “ I resolved the issue with my car how to I cancel? Followed by we suggest you keep CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor so your ready for next time but respect your decision to cancel.

Mean while it stated that you can cancel any Time and that the yearly is $20 for the year (1.67 a month )
I canceled less that 24 hours and have been refused a refund I guess the you can cancel any time means they take your money anyways

I would understand being changed for the month but not keeping them fully year worth

Only worth it if you upgrade to Pro for $$$

Installed the free version after the “check engine” light came on in my car. Easy installed & easily connected to the dongle via WiFi. Gives you some interesting but very, very basic data but if you actually want CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor to be useful, you have to either start paying $5/month or $20/year (automatically renewed) for the “Pro” version. This basic version here doesn’t even detect the check engine light is on, let-alone tell you what the problem is.

No thanks! I’d rather give my $$ to a business that’s nice enough to give you some honest useability in their free version.

I think I wasted my time and money on this Auto Doctor. I have an IPhone 11 and this device will not connect with it. I have been sitting in my truck for 2 hours. On Bluetooth I do not see the device and it doesn’t have any identifying name to it. I have tried everything thing and help tutorial in the software. I bought the device and dual obd cable as was suggested on the website. The tuner obdII and diagnostic obdII both light up. I Travel a lot, but can’t see or feel a difference from the programmer and the diagnostic tool is useless. I spent good money on these items and now feel like I got duped. If I saved money on mpg it must have been negligible. ☹️

Horrible app. I wouldn’t suggest it.

CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor is horrible. I got a Bluetooth OBD II reader for my mother a few years back and this was CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor they suggested. My mother couldn’t get it to work so I tried it on my car and after a few attempts it worked on my car but wasn’t easy to use. I then tried it on my mother’s car and again it took me about 8 tries to get it to work but they wanted me to upgrade to clear her CEL. It barely works why would anyone pay $5 a month or $20 a year for an app that is so difficult to use? I tried to show her how to use it on her phone but after trying to connect on her iPhone for about 20 minutes I gave up. CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor is junk, barely works of ever and if anyone buys the pay version good luck. PS I own a towing company and am a mechanic. I only got this for my mother to use on an older Subaru she insists on keeping. I have much better scanners.

Half Star, Not One Star!

After I purchased Korea ELM-327, I had to downloaded a basic app. Everything worked fine between a device and iPhone via WiFi but it did not provided enough information on the screen, very little like 5% or less about air temperature in the engine and room temperature was all I had. Pretty expensive to buy a device and the basic app sucked! Not sure, do I really want to purchase $ 9.99 app? Why do I have to spend the money this and that things?

Connection issues

I tried these 4 apps: OBD Auto Doctor, iOBD2, OBD2 Expert, and Car Scanner. The adapter I used is a Kobra Wireless that uses WiFi to connect to an app.

OBD Auto Doctor connected successfully once but then couldn't get it to do so again after half a dozen attempts.

OBD2 Expert was a no-go from the start since it wanted several $s to even get to the connection window.

iOBD2 did not connect successfully. The only thing CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor shows is a little banner while attempting to connect and then shows Connection Failure.

Only Car Scanner was able to connect everytime and provided LOTS (183 sensors) of useful information about the car and, importantly, for free. Although there are very unintrusive advertisements on the bottom of the screen, one can upgrade to the Pro version for a donation varying from $2.99 to 4.99 - your choice!

Works well, just wish the Sensors can be recorded

I’m using CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor with BT to the OBD adapter. Works well and there are no connection issues.

The one issue that I would like to see resolved is the inability to record the sensor data/graphs for post diagnosis analysis.
I would like to see multiple sensors recorded into a single .cvs or .txt file with the ability to export them to my cloud storage.

Best app so far

Honestly, for the price, CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor works great with my obd2 wireless adapter. I bought a 20 cheap adapter and it connects easily with CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor. CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor has found all my error codes, does great with my emissions and does record all my info for later. The only issues I have are when I try to look at my O2 performance. For some reason I cannot see bank1 identifiers and only bank2. Anyway, I’m very pleased.

Love it

Needed to trouble shoot my turbos, I let this run my screen with Gemini. While driving it was able to monitor all of my selected sensors and give me advice on what possible causes for my turbo lack was black and between all that we got it right as it was a bad hose. Saved me 2 thousand dollars on turbo replacements dealer recommended.

Not for the weak of heart

See the subject. For what it does, it does quite well. But if you don’t understand OBD, vehicles/engines/a plethora of technical car part names, you may struggle. But if you can at least figure them out, it’s hard to do better than OBD Doctor. A good app. Mind you, I’m a 62 yo electrical engineer. But I don’t know cars anymore. I could dance circles around the 60’s & 70’s cars/trucks. But it’s changed so much it’s hard enough to find the oil filter these days…

Problem with the app

Hi there, I have the promotion app and it works great since I have it, but recently my I phone 6 s plus broken and I got another phone and it is the same I phone 6 S plus , and I tried too many times to connect the device to CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor it didn’t connect at all.. any idea please. Thanks

Works perfect!

I originally downloaded Dash Command and I could never get it to work with my iPhone 6 Plus. Then I downloaded Auto Doctor and it worked seamlessly. I’ll probably upgrade to the full version soon since it works so well as a diagnostic tool.

Great app

I have really enjoyed the functionality and versatility of CarScannerOBDAutoDoctor. It connects with a whole lot of different Bluetooth devices to give you information about your vehicle at a basic level. I have not bought the professional level, and have not felt like I needed to. I get the basic information that I need. My vehicle is under a full warranty and so I already know what is going on when I take it into the shop.
