Difficult to Upload

2022-05-21

The upload options are from the camera roll or Google Photos. Terrible options if you import your 360 images from another device as they don't go into the camera roll folder and GoogleStreetView doesn't let you see the other folders on your phone. The Google Photos route adds a few more steps of having to upload my photos to another cloud and then the photo previews do not even show am image. You are left guessing and pinning the tail on the donkey in order to find your photo. Both of these are terrible interface mistakes making it impossible to contribute images.

Terrible app

2022-06-22

Literally just wanted to update the streetview for my own house because the last photo was taken 13 years ago. No option to do so in the maps app, and couldn’t (nor wanted to) get far enough to even try on GoogleStreetView. Judging by the reviews, the only reason the rating is so high is because this was the standard when GoogleStreetView was first released 7 years ago, and slowly GoogleStreetView has become more and more outdated whilst the main maps app gets none of the “features” that GoogleStreetView has. Just please add a photosphere option to the main app. This one is just awful.

This App does not work

2022-07-23

I am a high school teacher who invested time and money while traveling the world taking 360 images for my students that I uploaded to Google Street View for them to experience in VR mode. I purchased Google Cardboard viewers and created a number of lessons for the classroom. Last August when prepping for the new year I noticed that the VR option resulted in a black screen only. I deleted GoogleStreetView and reinstalled a number of times. I reached out to Google. I received questions about what version I was using. I noticed many other frustrated educators doing the same. It is now November 2019. Crickets. We have heard nothing and nothing is fixed. Complete lack of communication. Spare yourself if you are looking for VR feature. It is incredibly disheartening that Google has dropped the ball and left teachers high and dry.

Broken with no support

2022-08-24

It seems that Google has abandoned GoogleStreetView, without keeping it up to date with iOS updates. The current version is broken on iOS 12, losing the ability to read the metadata in an upload that establishes the view direction and losing the ability to manually reset the view direction using a preview image. Google seems to assume that the user is too stupid to notice, and doesn’t care if they do, because there is no user support anyway. Street View wasn’t generating enough revenue to sustain it so Google walked away, demonstrating its usual corporate ADHD. Expect GoogleStreetView to not even open with some future iOS.

Crap App for iPhone X

2022-09-25

I am using Google Maps since its launch. I used to admire the street view of UK when I visited there. I use GSV in U.S even now from the maps when I go to a new destination. I was too eager and installed it as soon as I saw it in App Store. But GoogleStreetView is unresponsive and keeps crashing.

It worked only once and I saw a view of some Astronomical Lab that was on home page by default. However GoogleStreetView went unresponsive and kept crashing just after that. I can't imagine GoogleStreetView could be so crappy on iPhone X running 11.2.1 (latest).

I'm highly disappointed with Google Street View. Please fix the bugs and release a better version. I'm not uninstalling it hoping there will be an update. I will come back and edit this review if GoogleStreetView starts working again.

Terrible for iPad

2022-10-26

The google website recommends GoogleStreetView for iPhone and iPad. This is terrible for iPad! The map and an image of street view each take up half of the screen and it’s hard to see anything. Sometimes multiple street view tabs stack up and take up the entire screen and you can’t see the map anymore. GoogleStreetView keeps flipping axes e.g. it starts in the portrait orientation but wen u search for a location, it flips to landscape on its own. It gives you tips on how to use the 360 functionality and wen to swipe but the “got it” button is off screen and I can’t scroll to get to it. I couldn’t get out of the tip screen so I had to close GoogleStreetView .

This app is absolutely terrible

2022-11-27

GoogleStreetView is absolutely terrible! I downloaded it because streetview wouldn’t work online and it doesn’t have any address in its system. Only very general places like Brooklyn, NY or Saratoga Avenue. The second you try to search something, you can’t find it because it isn’t even in the system.

So I spend about 35 minutes scrolling from my current location to the location point that I want to view in street mode and I have to shuffle from online google maps to the streetview app to match up the location/make sure I’m going in the right direction.

I finally find my location after what feels like an hour and a half and when I’m looking around the streetview, I last about 10-15 seconds before something pops up on the screen that I try to get to go away but doesn’t so I’m forced to close GoogleStreetView out.

Deleted it right away. GoogleStreetView is awful! I don’t even think they could help me if I got lost.

Oh not to mention, I search for a location in NYC and it sends me to Canada??? Get it together Google..

THEY STILL DIDN’T FIX IT!

2022-12-28

We just spent a year being told by Google that the inability to connect photos with the grayed-out compass/viewfinder at the bottom of the profile screen was an oversight, a simple fix, but Google was a big stodgy company unable to turn thus ship around for a few months. It took over a year for this new update... and it’s still unaddressed! Rendering GoogleStreetView neat, very neat, love it, use it all the time, but not good enough to actually use to make virtual tours. I’m so frustrated, and would be even moreso if I weren’t beaten down with nihilism. Google broke GoogleStreetView , when we complained they broke their own forum, and now we’re demoted back to hobbyists unless, as they recommend, we go buy expensive third-party software. So mad!

Following Route At Street-Level Absolute Pain

2023-01-29

Immediately after I reported that searching by address doesn’t work, there was an update that fixed that. I had just acquired GoogleStreetView, so I don’t know whether it caused the following problems, or if they were already present.

I tried to trace a route from my house to a point a couple of miles away, using the street-level view. Every few blocks the blue line would disappear and further progress would be stopped. The only way to proceed is to switch to the map view and advance the little man, whereupon he skips over the segment of road that can’t be covered at street-level. Upon returning to street-level, you may find yourself facing down the street in the wrong direction. Further confusing the matter is that in the map view the line is continuous, not broken, giving one no warning of what to expect. If the reason for the breaks is that people have requested to not have their houses in the street-level view, then a database for taking that into account in the map view exists.

Another annoyance is intersections. Most, though, oddly, not all of them, have the lines crossing not at right angles, but in this weird zigzag that is treacherous to attempt to navigate. Occasionally, one can sometimes hop over it, but other times you wind up on the cross street or several blocks behind where you were. One time GoogleStreetView shut down.

My house isn’t in Bosnia

2023-03-02

I just got GoogleStreetView. I searched my home address. It came up and I could see my house. I saw my dog in the window of my house, and I showed it to my dad. (I had closed the tab before showing it to my dad). I went to show him. I typed the address in front of him and instead of my house, a random house is Bosnia showed. (I dont live anywhere close to Bosnia) I was really confused on why this was happening so I kept searching my address and the same house in Bosnia showed up again. I’m not sure what is going on. :/

Just show me what I typed in!

2023-03-31

Hey, Google

If I type in an address. I just want you to get the street view in front of that house. Don’t suggest near by homes or anything else. Why would you not just put me, the little orange man, and my screen directly in front of the address I input? I get it, this is a first world problems rant and I should just let this go. It’s let go. Thank you for this platform to get silly things off my chest. I still like GoogleStreetView because I can’t do what satellites can do. 3 stars.

Poor for contributing 360 photos

2023-05-02

I use this mainly to take and upload 360 pictures to google street view. It’s nice because I can always go back and see the pictures I’ve uploaded to remember where I’ve been and to share places that google has not been able to image.

GoogleStreetView is quite unstable, even on a iPhone 12pro max. It often crashes when swiping between 360 images. Setting locations doesn’t always seem to change to the place you pick. Other times it will change to some similarly named place that wasn’t shown in the location picker.

Some photos will be rejected by google but you can’t easily see what they are or why they were rejected. You just need to go through the low view counts and check each one although GoogleStreetView does tell you how many were approved.

The 360 photos are pretty good, but sometimes there is some tearing. Maybe the image acquisition could ask for a few more photos to help with the stitching?

Lastly, I’ve been using GoogleStreetView since around the time it first came out. My 360 photos have always saved to my camera roll. Now, I’ve noticed they’re not and there doesn’t seem to be any way to get them back even though google appears to have a copy.

Lots of gunk on my tiny screen

2023-06-02

I have a phone with a small screen. Their mandatory tabs on the bottom take up about 30% of the screen, and the stuff on top takes another 20%. And the mandatory stuff on the bottom is usually stuff I don’t want. The only reason I use GoogleStreetView is to make spherical pictures. The interface is unenviable but I don’t know of any other app that takes and stitches spherical pictures.

You do not need to upload to Google Maps! You can export photospheres

2023-07-04

I was looking all over for an iOS photosphere app and I read on Reddit that GoogleStreetView might be the best one for iOS. I was afraid that the only way to export/share a photosphere taken with GoogleStreetView was to upload to Google Maps. This is not so. You can save the photosphere privately to your camera roll. You can view view the photosphere simply by saving it to Google Photos on any device.

Fascinating software

2023-08-04

The best way to take a vacation is to plan the vacation around STREETview...
every day searching for that ✨ultimate photograph ✨you never really know which one is going to give you that 5 million views ...are the {{{hundred million views }}} Ha ha ha 🙃but every single day you go out there ... GoogleStreetView will keep you focused, it’s ..it’s fascinating ,it’s absolutely fascinating and surprisingly it’s becoming easier to operate it’s easier to upload 360 photos from your telephone from your go Pro them or whatever device you use it is evolving into a very useful partner🙌✨🙌

Amazing!

2023-09-05

I’m in love! I can pop in almost anywhere in the whole wide world and experience it from wherever I am. I can revisit places I’ve been before and/or lived before and take a walk down memory lane...or pop in and experience somewhere I may never get to see in person. I feel like I just got to revisit my favorite beach in California where I spent a great many hours, an amusement park where I used to work, and the city center in the town where I used to live. Next, I’m going to drop into the Eiffel Tower area to reminisce from my European vacation!

Why is no one else even trying

2023-10-07

I don’t understand why there aren’t other apps that attempt to provide the complete platform for creating and viewing yours and others’ UHD photospheres. This does 8K, straight from your normal phone, and it does it without instructions or setup. You can save the flattened photospheres to your phone in full resolution and use them however you want. There’s a huge database of photospheres around the world and it’s easy to search and view. Why have I come back to GoogleStreetView year after year with no one else getting half as close to doing what I consider a reasonably simple thing like GoogleStreetView does?

Great! 😄

2023-11-07

GoogleStreetView is beyond exceptional, it’s really great and i think more people should use it. i know i kind of sound like a robot writing a good review so that more people download GoogleStreetView but i’m not. GoogleStreetView is really helpful and really informative. one time i was using it and i was looking for a friends house; using GoogleStreetView i found a ton of fun stuff to do around her house and we actually weren’t bored that day but, anyway back to the point, GoogleStreetView is really good and if you are reading this review before you get GoogleStreetView , i highly suggest that you do because, it’s helpful in so many ways and i think it will make your life easier when trying to see what a neighborhood is like or, to see what’s around a house that you are interested in. overall i honestly, truly think that you should get GoogleStreetView.

This might be hard to understand but please read.

2023-12-09

If you take a 360 photo on your phone or camera and move it to GoogleStreetView. You can change the location (not the address, the actual exact place the pic was taken.). But when editing the photo and putting it in the correct place. You have to be able to see the pic at the bottom of the screen where you can edit the view or map... You can do that. Until you publish it. You can press select and try to change the place but at the bottom, the pic is just white so you can’t see the pic. This is a lot and I’m guessing nobody understood this. But google, please take this into consideration to fix.

GSV Trusted Rates GSV

2024-01-09

Having great fun. GSV is a great tool for everyone to use. When I upload a bunch of photos at one time, I sometimes get the error "No Wifi" when I am in my office and have great Wifi. So I am not sure what to say about that. However, having these photos now connect i.e. Camera spot 1 to 2 to 3 and so on and editing the direction that is shown as the thumbnail prior to uploading so you are giving the best view / direction of the 360 is fantastic. Then taking it a step further and editing the listing to match you GPS pin point location in Google Map and adding the parking location. Now this bring the service to the public to a whole new level. The new roll out of GSV and Google Maps is truly exciting. Data Fuels the Cannon, Technology Ignites It.

Am I missing something?

2025-01-28

I used to be able to save these photos to my phone but since this last time I updated, I can’t find that option. Since the name of GoogleStreetView overlaps with other google services, it’s hard to find help online with it. Wish it wasn’t called street view.

I’ll take Street View for 1000 Alex

2025-01-28

Best Invention since the Rand McNally road maps that sat in the glove box of vehicles across the country in the 90’s😳😜😂... I would like to know if you will be creating a 360 video application with ability to capture the footage and actually be able to upload from an iOS device? Versus having to purchase a device just to upload 360 video.

App crashes on iOS 11.0.3

2025-01-28

I love GoogleStreetView for its ability to take sort of flawless 360 photos. I have been using it very frequently on my iPhone for the past few months. All of a sudden GoogleStreetView started to freeze and became unresponsive and finally crashes after a few minutes. Hoping that Google will push an update soon with a fix.
