Awesome!

Update: I paid to remove ads, but the ads are still showing up. I’m downgrading my rating until this gets fixed.

I love, love, love this game! I finally have gold trophies on all 250 levels, although it took me a few months of playing sporadically to get there. Will there ever be more levels? All I can do now is replay levels and try the daily challenges. Update: There are new levels!!! I love the new format! A trick to keep in mind is that mathematically, sometimes the puzzles are impossible to win. When this happens, back out of the puzzle, and press play again. Voila, the puzzle resets! This game is fast, challenging, and mathematical, but not in a 'classroom' way. There are angles in some of the geometric shapes that help you figure out where to place your points; in other puzzles, it's not obvious at all. The best piece of advice I got while playing this game was from my son: he said that "they (the opposing dots) are going to get some portion of the puzzle; you just have to try to get more of it." It seems simplistic, but I had a mindset (at first) that I didn't want to give away any more than I had to. Accepting that they will get 'some' of the space made it easier, somehow. Hope that makes sense. Great game and I highly recommend it!

How Many Games Are Playable For Years?

Lines is a deceptively simple game that’s both challenging and relaxing. Filled with puzzles that present random variations, it’s a great time-filler while waiting for something. It won’t leave you feeling frantic when you put it up. And, once you complete all the achievements, you’re left with a game that you can play daily like the crossword or jumble. All in all, one of my favorite games.

And an update... The most recent release (which “optimized user experience”) has spoiled the simplicity of the daily challenge by adding a “watch ad” feature that offers a second chance on a loss. I can understand the developers wanting another route to cash for themselves, but to me it ruins the experience, especially with the “ad free” version. This after three years of pleasant game play moves me to lower my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars.

Near Perfect Fun

Pro #1: It’s visually and musically beautiful.

Pro #2: Most modes provide a satisfyingly mild challenge.

Pro #3: It’s a unique, well-designed experience. Not a clone game like so many others.

Pro #4: It’s fairly free - you can turn off ads with a small fee.

Con #1: Infinite mode doesn’t save your progress if you close LinestheGame . You have to do it in one sitting.

Con #2: (this one won’t make much sense if you haven’t played it) Rope mode would probably be more fun if the ropes were very fast speed tracks that did not give you line progress. As it is, you can basically cheese-win any situation by just finding a really long line to draw within your assured area of control.

Con #3: Some of the colors are very close to each other. I’ve discovered one of my eyes sees color slightly better than the other and so I close one eye to distinguish sometimes. I am not medically colorblind according to any test, so I doubt this is just a me-thing.

Not like other puzzle games

This woke up parts of my brain that hadn't been touched since Pac-Man (which moving object, after making a few turns apiece, can get to that intersection first?), and is exercising new parts that I never knew existed. Great fast game to pick up and play, but has the depth to keep me engaged for a long time if (or more likely, when) I give in ("just one more try!").

One small complaint I have is the similarity of the colors. Having subtly different shades of a base color on a single level has cost me plenty of lives. It's hard to tell that a small yellow dot only a few mm in diameter isn't EXACTLY the same color as the border, or the same color as another small dot halfway across the screen. Please keep all of the colors distinct.

Small bug - when I die during infinity mode, and quit the game, It resumes not in infinity mode, but as though I died playing the actual level. Maybe I do want to retry the same level, but more likely, I want to play infinity mode again, and now I have to navigate through the menus to select it.

Update of color differences needed

Colors need to be updated so people with mild deuteranomaly color blindness can play. At least let us know ahead of starting a game whether we are playing against one other color or two other colors. Sometimes I can’t tell until I’ve lost that there I was actually playing against two different yellows, for example.
I really like this game, but the update to the daily challenge makes it extremely rare for me to be able to win now, because every game in the challenge is different, and if I misidentify colors in just one, I’m out.
Sometimes using night mode helps, but not always.
Please consider this type of update for this game: I have noticed another game or two listing this improvement while updating game apps.

Yeah for the update but still needs some work

Glad they finally updated and added more levels. Had finished everything long ago and only had the daily challenge. New levels are a bit harder. My biggest complaint is the colors are to close. One game there are two colors, red and darker red. Makes it hard. Or they use off white, pale yellow, tan and brown. Makes it hard to distinguish what is what when you are deciding what to eliminate and where to cut. Fix those issues and pretty fun game.

Paid with Ads?

From what I understand, I got a paid version of LinestheGame on a day it was an “app gone free”, and it has tons of ads. Not only that, but I’ve tried to click on remove ads tons of times, but it doesn’t take me anywhere. There IS no option to remove ads. I’d be willing to pay to remove ads on this game because I actually enjoy it, but can’t, and shouldn’t have to when a paid app has a free promo.

The game itself is great. I even recommended it to other people, but am irritated with the ads.

Still playing, but a few quirks

Difficult app to navigate and learn at first, but you quickly catch on if you stick with it for a few. Love the piano tones with each move/line crossing. So relaxing and therapeutic! Which makes the 30 second Japanese ads with loud game play/music/yelling so jarring. There is a mute button, but I’d rather have the more mellow 5 second ads between every game instead. (Also, some of the 5 second ads have been a bit glitchy/black.). Hope the bugs get worked out, but I’m still playing! It’s calming, effortless, and pretty clever!

Genuinely Fantastic & Unique Game

Huge re-playability! In a world where almost every game is a copy of another game, Lines stands out as a truly unique experience. Developer cares and has added a massive amount of levels in addition to daily challenges. This will soon become one of your long term standards for a quick fix or a longer relaxing sit down. The format of how you obtain the bronze, silver and gold is genius and will have you trying a level “just one more time”:)
God bless,
Casey

Can’t get enough

About a month or so ago, l wrote to you about giving us a larger variety of puzzles for the daily challenge rather than the same 15 or 20 over and over. For the last few weeks I’ve noticed many different puzzles appearing daily. Coincidence? I think not. I like to think someone listened. Thank you so very much. Terry

Love it!

One of my favorite games ever! Only thing I would like to see changed is some of the color choices for some of the levels. I’m not color blind, but I sometimes lose a level because I have a hard time distinguishing the subtle shades of color. I hope some of these levels will be updated to colors that can be easily distinguished. Still a great game!

Great game but stuck

The game is a lovely way to use your brain! I was so excited about the new levels until the rope level #57. The round is unwinable and the program won’t give me a different starting position. I’ve gold leveled all of the other levels but can’t get even a single win on #57 rope-really bothersome. It would be great if after a certain number of attempts, idk 100 or so, the game will give you a different starting point! But all in all a great game.

Update is da bomb!

More well-considered figures (25 of each of the 5 types), and an excellent reworking of functionality. Easier to replay same figure, but easier as well to explore new figures. Should you happen to boot out of a game in progress, when you reboot you face the identical configuration, allowing you, finally, to be able to try different approaches to the same problem. And the daily puzzle, instead of repeating the same figure, bounces around to a new figure each iteration. New mode of play, Infinite, challenges you to play as many games as you can without losing.
As always, I have no clue of the business model of games: no extras to buy, no fancier version you can pay up for, and if there are ANY ads I haven’t seen them. But god bless ‘em. Perhaps we’re getting lured into briquid mini.
Bug: bronze, silver, gold medals awarded 90% too soon. Rope level 57 no longer endlessly reiterates same unwinnable setup.

My FAVORITE game- Wish update worked same as original

Love Love Love this game! I wish there were more levels. Every few months I delete LinestheGame and then reinstall it to start over. I’ve had if for a couple years now and still come back to it. ** HOORAY!!! Opened LinestheGame today and found new levels!!! I cannot contain my excitement!!! Edit: Been playing the update. I wish the dots would move to new locations like the original puzzles. Leaves no reason to replay the new levels

Wonderfully simple, immersive

omg what is this? After 3 years, an expansion of one of my favorite iOS games of all time! I can’t wait to get back into it and start solving these delightful puzzles! Thank you developers!

Original review from three years ago:

What a creative simple and intriguing little game. It's a moving puzzle essentially. So easy to play, so many strategies and ways to challenge yourself to get better. Every game is different when you replay it. Lots of fun objectives and rewards to earn.

Great game

I didn't know what to expect but this is really good. It makes you think and is fun too. You can play a quick round or two or spends hours on this. Easy to learn; some levels are quite hard (yet fun). Now I'm further into the game and I still really enjoy it. I "discovered" Night Mode recently and this really makes some level "pop". After upgrade even more fun. Love Daily Challenge With the addition of Portals I’m looking for a 6th Star to give this fun game.

Brilliant AND fun!

I’m a big puzzle game fan. This game was such a delightful surprise that paying a small fee to eliminate ads was a no brainer. Lines is unique and elegant, simple and complex, with several different game modes which gives extra variety to the experience. Plus, the game is just fun to play. I love it.

Just one issue:
Every time I open LinestheGame I have to Restore Purchases to remove the ads again. Not a big deal, but I notice many people have the same issue. It’s a great game, and people who’ve paid for it deserve to have the bugs fixed. Thanks.

Fun & challenging

I love this game. There are so many ways to play: the daily challenge, several modes within the play- LOVE the infinite game. However there is one HUGE issue. Very often the colors are so similar it’s difficult & sometimes (depending on the ambient lighting) impossible to determine what color you are vs the “opponent”. The Red vs orange, different shades of blue, dark colors etc. Very difficult to distinguish. I’ve seen others make the same comment so I wonder why the developers have yet to correct this. If it wasn’t for the color issue this would be a 5 star.

Love the game, too bad the developers gave up on it

This is the game I had the longest and still play daily. It is very enjoyable and sometimes challenging. There is a color blind mode where the colors have symbols. Unfortunately, for a few years now, the game doesn't fit entirely in the rounded screens of the newer iPhones (not sure if it is a problem with Androids too), and the symbols which are in the corner, are now invisible. This had made me lose games because I wasn't exactly sure with color/symbol I was. (In some levels, the colors are very similar. Too similar.) I hope they will fix this, but it seems the developers have kind of given up on this game.

Great Customer Service

I wrote a review 2 weeks ago complaining about recent changes to Lines regarding ads and the Daily Challenge. I’m happy to report I got messages directly from the developer (Gamious) which addressed my complaints and LINES IS BACK TO NO ADS (if purchased that way) and the Daily Challenge has the ‘Play Again’ option restored. Thank you!
