National German radio station supports racism!

Supporting your host, who was openly racist not only to a world wide renowned boy band but also to a whole race, and saying it was just his opinion proves that this company doesn’t deserve to be running. And apologizing by directing your insults to the fandom that called you out on your racism isn’t apologizing, it is merely saying you are the victim which is funny when you look at all the people you hurt. Racism is not an opinion and until you learn we won’t stop raising awareness.

Your radio host, Mathias Matuschik, made horrible racist comments against the artist BTS. He's entitled to his opinion but racism is not an opinion and is not covered under the free speech pass. This has offended not just bts fans but the entire asian community. Comparing bts to covid is horrible, even more so considering the anti-asian sentiment that has been spreading around in the last year. It's 2021, GROW UP. Your white ass does not get to be xenophobic in public and then try to gaslight those offended. Not only do you need to issue an official apology, you need to FIRE Mathias for being such a horrible human being.

The radio host recently made vitriolic and racist comments about the Korean band BTS on his program on Bayern3. This included comparing the members of BTS to the COVID-19 pandemic and saying that a vaccine [for BTS] is needed. All of the members of BTS are South Korean. Considering the widespread anti-Asian sentiment, especially directed at East Asians since the beginning of the pandemic, this comment is clearly racist. He said that BTS deserve to “take a vacation” to North Korea for 20 years, a racially-motivated and disgusting comment. He described BTS covering “Fix You” by Coldplay as “blasphemy.” He also used vulgar language to target BTS on a nationally funded radio segment. Also, he tried to play the “I’m not a racist” card by saying that he can’t be accused of xenophobia because he has a South Korean car.Racism is not a personal opinion. It is wrong. Matuschik’s statements are clearly racially-motivated, as the reference to COVID-19 and exilement to North Korea to demean a Korean band cannot be anything else. Matuschik claims to be an anti-racist ally, but his actions speak louder than his words.also his crazy fanboy statements shouldn't be on the show such a unprofessional,!! Moreover the radio station is protecting the host, instead of apologizing he is using victim card !! Racism is not tolerated and Racism is not an opinion !!

I would like to report an issue regarding the bahaviour of bayern 3 as a company and a widely received broadcasting station. A host making racist statements towards artists and being more than disrespectful is one thing, not even trying to apologize correctly and to act accordingly is a whole other. As a by the citizens funded radio station this kind of enabling of racism, especially in a time full of hate crimes against minorities just shows how unaware and ignorant German media in general and bayern 3 is. Bayern 3 could have given an acceptable statement trying to understand the ongoing situation, instead they refused and Matuschik has, as of now, not faced any severe and certainly rightful consequences. Hold him accountable and maybe safe what's left over of your dignity and credibility and educate yourself!

I’m disgusted by the racist comments made by Matuschik earlier. His words were not an exaggerated opinion taken out of context, they were blatantly racist. Comparing actual human beings to the COVID-19 virus (a pandemic which is causing real, tangible harm around the world), is deplorable to begin with, and completely inexcusable when those people already face a growing amount of anti-asian racism and violence due to the spread of the virus. It is not a joke to suggest someone be sent to North Korea. We demand a full apology, and Matuschik must be fired. Make the right choice, the world is watching.

A racist host and there's no respect to other communities

Racism is not an opinion, or a joke, or a fad, or a perception, or entertainment. Bayern3 is excusing and condoning racism by failing to properly denounce Matthias Matuschik and take action. He compared Asian people to COVID-19, and the station says he didn’t “mean” to offend and it was only “seen as offensive and racist” by some. Despicable and cowardly and adding insult to injury.

I take massive issue with the fact that this radio channel enables and platforms racists and then defends said racists when they are called out for being racist, and downplays the racism. As of right now, Matthias Matuschik is STILL employed here despite his disgusting anti-asian hate speech and the fact that Bayern3 still tries to cover for him and claims that he is “the furthest thing from racist” after the whole world heard him go on a racist tirade, is absolutely shameful and tells me everything I need to know about the values of this channel. Trying to reduce the issue of racism to “hurting the feelings of BTS fans” is disgraceful. It certainly doesn’t help that Mr. Matuschik himself doesn’t seem to find anything wrong with his racist rhetoric as he continues to claim that his words were “twisted” as if we didn’t all hear him compare an asian band to Covid-19, clear as day. For as long as Mr. Matuschik remains employed at Bayern 3, I will tell everyone I know to stay far away from this channel as they obviously have no issue with racism and continues to protect the racists whom they have employed.

Not only are those comments hurtful but they incite violence against the entire Asian Community all over the world due to this racist retoric. A vile station with a racist as a radio host. Matthias Matuschik needs to be fired and publicly humiliated because racism is NOT an opinion and what he said reflects a lack of morals or humanity. It does not take an ethics professor to know that is beyond unacceptable to compare any human being to a deadly virus, let alone people who are from marginalized groups. Do not tell us that you were only criticizing the group, because if you were, you would mention the music.
