Data Never Saved

2022-05-25

I’ve installed CounttheKicks and tried for 2 days. The interface is confusing and hard to use: I first tried the “start counting” function, which seemed to have recorded a session with 10 baby kicks. But after I saved the session, it went nowhere to be found. I thought maybe I needed to created an account first, which then I did, and I also created a baby profile. Then I tried to count again and saved my session, but under “Kick Session History” it showed “nothing here”. I was confused. Then I tried to record another session under the baby profile I created, now it seemed like the session had been saved. Today I opened CounttheKicks and checked again, all sessions I “saved” previously were gone again. So frustrating. Such a waste of time. Where did the rating 4.8/5 come from???

Bad for women

2022-06-26

CounttheKicks is effective for assisting a woman doing her kick count, but the accompanying stories of “saved babies” are distressing at best and irresponsible/potentially hurtful at worst. Most women who notice reduced fetal movement will go on to deliver healthy babies. This is deliberately obscured by CounttheKicks , contributing to increased anxiety and fear amongst the users (including myself at the time, despite high medical literacy).

Encouraging women to communicate with their providers if they have any concern. Do not wave horror stories in front of women’s faces. For what it’s worth, the suggestion that CounttheKicks “saved” any babies in the stories is misguided and misleading.

My rec: talk to your doctor if you are worried. If you want a kick counter app, get a different one that doesn’t include deliberate scare tactics.

Too glitchy to rely on

2022-07-27

I wanted to like CounttheKicks - especially given all the positive ratings- but the first two out of three sessions I had were a complete waste. Day 1, I started counting, finished the session, then it prompted me to create an account or continue on as a guest. I of course created an account, as I intended to use this for the next 3 months. Unfortunately, once I did that, all my session data was lost and was not synced to the new account I created. I was bummed but planned to do Day 2 with my new account. All was well. On to Day 3 (today), things were going well. However, when I went to record a kick, I opened back up my phone (bc if no activity, the screen goes black - which was fine before - you just reopen it and continue your counts…although it would be ideal for CounttheKicks to stay open and active when you were in an active kick count session), and this time CounttheKicks had just restarted itself and was back to the main screen asking me to count my kicks! When I went into session history, I saw my incomplete session with 3 missing kicks and the time it took to get to 7. Why did it choose that time to just shut down and restart? So once again, I was left with incomplete data. I’m deleting CounttheKicks and finding a new one - this info is way too important to keep taking chances on whether my info will save one day to the next!

Older version was better

2022-08-28

I started using CounttheKicks about 3 months ago. (A lady I lnow is a huge advocate/ambassador for it and I’ve been wanting to use it with this second pregnancy.) I am currently 7 months pregnant. It was great at keeping track of my sessions. Well, CounttheKicks was recently upgraded. The biggest difference is that I have used CounttheKicks every day since the upgrade and CounttheKicks keeps saying I’m on day 1. Yesterday, it even said I haven’t logged in 2 days. So I logged in the afternoon around 5pm and again in the evening around 10:45 pm. CounttheKicks still said I’ve only done one session. I’m going to give it a few more days. If it doesn’t change, I will delete and look for something else.

Frustrating Glitch

2022-09-29

I was tracking my baby’s movements for a month and a half, and then a few days ago I go to open my app and it has logged me out. I had used Facebook to create my account, so I attempted to log back in via Facebook. However this message came up:” Login failed. You can’t use Facebook to login to CounttheKicks or device because there is an issue with the implementation of the Facebook login.”

I tried multiple times, even deleted and reloaded CounttheKicks , but no success. So I had to create an entire new profile using my Google login, and I’ve lost nearly 1.5 months of data for my baby’s kicks. I’m disappointed by this - even if the issue is with FB and not Count the Kicks. I wish there was a way to just create a profile from scratch and not rely on some other platform like FB or Google to create an account.

Good concept, poor delivery

2022-10-30

I love the concept of what CounttheKicks is trying to do, but I feel like CounttheKicks itself needs a lot of work. It is constantly logging me out, which is frustrating to have to always be logging back in. When it logs me out, then it creates a new profile when I log back in so I can’t actually track much because there are only a couple count sessions on each profile. I haven’t figured out if I can combine the multiple profiles. I also feel like it operates really slowly to load, to start a session, etc. I want to like this more, but it usually just frustrates me and doesn’t work well.

Very very disappointed- data wiped

2022-12-01

I reached my due date and CounttheKicks kept aggressively popping up with a “Did you deliver?” before I could count my baby’s kicks. I’ve been counting since 28 weeks and am now at 41 weeks, so I lost a LOT of data when I clicked “yes” with no ability to go back, no prompt to enter actual delivery date, etc. To be honest this is the worst time to lose the data since my chance of stillbirth is going up the longer baby stays in, and I’d like to be able to actually compare. Unfortunately CounttheKicks design has ruined this. Overall CounttheKicks works well but it also doesn’t have a good info button in general if you start counting and then forget. You have to go through and manually delete the bad data rather than being able to just start the session over. For a free app it’s pretty good but could use some big functionality changes.

Very delayed upon opening

2023-01-01

CounttheKicks works well for counting kicks and is simple to use. However, it's very annoying that it takes several several seconds to load upon opening app and after hitting the "Start Counting" button. My baby moves quickly so often times she's already kicked 3-4 times before CounttheKicks even gets to the foot symbol for counting each kick. Sometimes I've also found I have to click the foot symbol a few times before it actually registers that I hit it. This kind of app shouldn't have that much lag time.

Okay

2023-02-02

CounttheKicks worked fine for what I needed it to do but without sounding insensitive I really wish they would keep the references about stillbirth in their own tab instead of having them pop up at the end of a count session. I already knew the importance of counting kicks, hence downloading CounttheKicks , but the frequent references to the founders' stories was an anxiety trigger. Also, I always go over my due date and every day that I logged on past my due date I would get a pop up saying they noticed I was past my due date and did I need to update my profile with the delivery...annoying to see that reminder that you’re overdue every time you log on. Lol

Issues since new update

2023-03-06

I had been loving CounttheKicks and loved the sound of the new updates when I read about them coming to it, but now I’m really frustrated with how glitchy CounttheKicks is being since it updated. It even claimed I didn’t have a current pregnancy profile, made me make a new one but then loaded my previous one anyway so now I’m stuck with two profiles for the same pregnancy & I can’t even combine the data. Besides that, it seems the old data got messed up some how, it’s saying my average time for sessions on that profile was Negative 43 minutes!! 33 sessions I can no longer use for this, thankfully I know what my old average was around for baby’s kicks, but like I said, it’s just frustrating.

Awesome app, could be improved even more

2023-04-04

I love CounttheKicks . It is awesome. The only small thing I have that needs to be improved is being able to take back that last kick when you hit the button by mistake. It’s happened a few times, I must admit it is user error, but I think they could help us out. When my phone is low on battery, the auto lock gets decreased to 30 seconds. So I have to touch the screen to keep it on. Sometimes the kick gets registered, and it’s no problem to”undo last kick”. But, if you do it on that last one, the session ends and I’m not able to take it back. Other than that, this is the best app on the market for counting kicks.

Counting and Bonding

2023-05-06

Tracking my baby’s in utero movements has been the most fun part of pregnancy for me, and I didn’t need an app for that! But my husband found CounttheKicks when my OB asked me to be especially vigilant with my kick counts in the last couple weeks before delivery. Sitting down with my feet up and my hands on my belly once or twice a day has acquainted me with his movement patterns and his body positions even better than before. And my baby responds to the attention with more movement! It has been a fun bonding time.

One piece of the peace of mind puzzle

2023-06-06

CounttheKicks is great for keeping track of movement during the most active time of day for baby. That said, my doctors advice has been more helpful: get to know your baby’s routine. CounttheKicks is only one piece of that. I wish there were an easier was to chat baby’s movements throughout the day, because there’s usually a pattern. If we’re only tracking the once-a-day window, it’s hard to get an idea of what’s normal for our individual tiny human — even daylight savings threw me off last week.

So, many thanks to the Count the Kicks org for offering this tool and for their investment in prenatal education. Just remember to partner with your doc for a wholistic interpretation of what’s normal for your individual baby’s activity.

Easy to Use, Takes Forever to Load

2023-07-08

I downloaded CounttheKicks after my midwife suggested counting kicks and monitoring baby’s movements to get an idea of baby’s patterns. I like how easy CounttheKicks is and I like that you can “undo” a kick—very handy feature when you have an overly helpful four-year-old. I do hate that CounttheKicks takes quite some time to load when you open it, so if you have an idea when you’re going to want to start counting kicks, make sure to open CounttheKicks a few minutes ahead of time.

Saved my baby’s life

2023-08-08

My last pregnancy was going great until the end. After a few days noticing it was taking longer to count my baby’s kicks with CounttheKicks, I went in to get a fetal heart monitor check and immediately had to do an emergency c-section. Tracking with CounttheKicks let me know something wasn’t right and I am forever thankful for it. Made by mamas for mamas! I tell all my new mom friends about it because of my first hand experience. Thank you so much for creating this!

Great peace of mind

2023-09-09

CounttheKicks was so easy to use and being a first time mom, it helped me through my anxieties about my baby. Gave me cute little tips and it was a nice way to bond with my baby every night before bed. I am honestly going to miss having CounttheKicks on my phone a little bit and having those nightly reminders now that he is here with me, safe and healthy.

Great 3rd trimester partner

2023-10-11

It’s a great app backing a great cause. Helping me get through my 3rd Trim with less anxiety. Wish it had a screen lock feature so that the screen would not dim out- it takes 30-60mins sometimes to log the kicks and if my phone screen blacks out I forget I was counting. They should come up with a count the contractions feature as well.

Easy App to keep baby safe

2023-11-11

This is a great app to count the kicks every day to ensure baby is doing well. I like that it provides a trend as you go along so you can clearly see if anything is different then it should be. I appreciate the reminders as well that it will send as sometimes life just gets to busy it is nice to have the reminder to slow down and spend some time paying attention to baby and it’s movements.

Makes counting kicks easy

2023-12-13

Before I started using CounttheKicks I would forget to count kicks throughout the day and start panicking. I would be counting kicks at all hours of the night to make sure everything was okay. Since I started using CounttheKicks a few weeks ago and I haven’t missed one day! I love that it reminds me and if I go more than a few hours it will alert me. Great app and it’s very easy to use.

Great App

2024-01-13

I turned off the notifications because if I had already done the count when the notification went off, I wasn’t able to make the notification go away without doing the count again. Otherwise, it works very well. It’s easy to use and gives quick and easy data. It can provide comfort when I’m not sure if I’ve felt my baby boy moving by showing me he’s moving just as often still.

Needs updated

2024-12-16

I downloaded CounttheKicks about a month ago and absolutely love it. However when I tried counting yesterday morning, it had logged me out of my account (I always stay logged in), and wanted me to start all over. It keeps wanting me to create an account and I’m annoyed because I have lost a months worth of counting. Every time I try to log back in with Facebook it says error. My son has a heart condition and I am 31 weeks so CounttheKicks usually gives me some peace of mind. Please fix whatever is going on or I’ll be deleting. No point in keeping an app that doesn’t work.

Crashes often

2024-12-16

I loved CounttheKicks at the beginning and started using it once I entered my third trimester. About a week into using CounttheKicks I noticed that it had issues crashing when I try and open CounttheKicks . There have been multiple times that I haven’t been able to access and count my baby’s kicks. I’ve also had issues with getting signed out. I do agree with others that it takes a long time to open. By the time it does open my baby has already moved frequently. Due to the unreliability I went with a different app

It’s okay

2024-12-16

CounttheKicks has a lot of things I don’t personally care to deal with, such as other people’s stories and things celebrities said but those are just personal preference. It frequently logs me out and I have a difficult time getting back in and I often have to reset my password. Overall, CounttheKicks is okay and it is straightforward to count kicks but I don’t like anything else about it.

Such a great tool

2024-12-16

I’ve been using CounttheKicks since 30 weeks. I find it very helpful to have it on my phone and not have to write it down or time it myself. I ended up having a small scare around 32 weeks and was told by doctors to keep track of fetal movements, CounttheKicks has been helpful for me and the doctors to keep track of this information.

Love this app but....

2024-12-16

Once mom is past due date, it asks every single time CounttheKicks is opened if you’ve given birth yet. Can this feature be turned off? Very useful app, I just don’t feel like additional stress should be placed on “late” moms for going past their due date especially when only 4-5% give birth on their due date

App crashes occasionally

2024-12-16

Slow to open and will crash when I’m almost at the end of a session. Frustrating to start over and maybe the baby isn’t as active when starting over. But when it is working, it’s easy to use and the “undo” option is helpful. Love that you can track history over time.

Easy to use, great daily time with my baby!

2024-12-16

App is easy to use, visually pleasing to see my time elapsed from session to session and day to day. It’s also a wonderful few minutes each day to lie on my back and spend mindful time feeling my baby move and enjoying our time together.

User friendly and helpful reminders!

2024-12-16

It’s perfect- basic kick counting app that keeps track of your times so you know when to be on high alert. Also love the reminders because who doesn’t forget every now and again?!

Good tool !!

2024-12-16

I think is a good tool to be aware of the baby's movements. This is my fifth child and I tend to forget to pay attention since the other children are 9 and under. So many things to do but it is good to have an alarm that reminds you to pay attention and to bond with the new baby. Thank you

Useful app

2024-12-16

I’m currently pregnant with my first baby. Almost 30 weeks and CounttheKicks has been helping me stay on track keeping up with my baby’s kick count. I love that it has reminders and it gives an average timing. I highly recommended it to all mommies with babies on the way!

Easy and very useful

2024-12-16

This was recommended to me by my midwife. It’s easy to use and a great way to make sure your baby is moving as much as they should be. The reminder is great for if you forget to do it daily. I highly recommend it!
