Later: Social Media Scheduler Reviews

I used to be a big fan of Later and paid for a subscription for awhile. I’ve not been as active on IG, but I recently tried to make a post and realized that my PAID PLAN had been phase out and I didn’t have access to auto publish. Felt pretty scammy that had been paying for something that no longer offered the one service I was looking for.

I’m not willing to upgrade from $8 to $15 just to auto publish. I also had to jump through a few hoops to cancel. The pages like “look at your benefits! Are you sure?” and it was required that I answer a question about how I would be managing my social media now that I’m no longer paying.

After all of this, I’m definitely on the lookout for something new.

Very good overall, and I think for content creators this app is a legitimately solid tool and good value. However - Would really like to see some improvements. Video is currently capped at 1 minute, even though Instagram changed IGTV (basically dropped it). Multi-photo posts don’t let you auto-publish, a couple other issues would like to see fixed by the Tech team. Good app overall though with syncing to desktop.

Unlike the website FAQ says, the free version does not let you schedule 30 posts per month, it only let me schedule 10 before saying I’m out of posts. Went to look at the paid version and it’s only 30 posts per month, which is not worth it when you have to post at least 2 times a day to stay relevant in IG algorithms.

Later is awesome and I love it. I gave it 4 stars bc I just wish there was an option to add multiple Instagram accounts for social media managers to juggle with ease.

I am on my iPad so Later is great except for the mapping of the calendar, not a fan. Needs to be a little easier to read and follow with scheduling like the business app for Facebook!

I can’t pin a link to the post. It’s easy to do on desktop, but I’m mobile more than 50% of my time, so I would love to have access to doing this on Later .

Cant auto post multi photo posts on Instagram. So basically, it doesn’t save any time at all

I love Later. It has made Instagram so much more manageable for me. I wanted to grow my account with more posts, but as a working person, who has time to be drafting captions or selecting photos from back in your camera roll? I want to do a big photo shoot once or twice a month and have things roll out as automatically as possible.

As a software developer myself, I know an app in progress when I see one. Instead of complaining about quirks, I trust the developers will smooth out some of the issues and weirdnesses, and I also understand that limitations of Instagram’s API are completely outside the developer’s control. Yes, it would be great if Later could auto-post carousel posts. Instagram doesn’t allow this. So Later makes it as easy as possible. No sifting through old photos or clogging up your favorites album. Everything is right there. It reduces the time from 5-10 minutes to about 30 seconds.

The only thing I don't fully understand is why you can only schedule stories through the desktop website. I imagine that will change as Later continues to grow and improve.

I wasn’t sure I’d be glad I paid for the subscription, but boy am I happy. I think it’s an absolute steal and it has made my Instagram so much better. Can’t wait to see how it improves over time.

I like the ability to auto schedule posts, a couple frustrating things about Later is that if you run two IG profiles on it you hit your free limit fairly quickly. 30 total posts so 15 posts per account. It would be nice if it was 30 per account instead of the way it is now.

I like the update and the ability to move photos around via the photo grid like you can do on the desktop version, but I'm with everyone else on not liking how y'all whited out the photos that have already been posted to IG. It kinda defeats the purpose of the grid preview because you can't fully compare the photos side by side.

Another gripe I have about Later is once you've scheduled your limit of 30 posts regardless of if you have actually posted the photo or not you can't load up anymore posts to be scheduled so you basically can only work 30 photos at a time if you have a free version. This just stifles any type of productivity. If you restricted the ability to post to IG after 30 posts from the post level I'd get that, but from the scheduling level it doesn't make a lot of sense because a lot of times you make changes to your posting schedule or could potentially want to schedule posts for next month when your account limit resets but you can't, it's just odd the way it's setup.

I am a current marketing student and I’m trying out different tools. I recently started an Instagram for my dog as a side project to apply what I’ve learned so far. Some tools have been helpful, others not so much. As a student it’s great to get many of these tools free or heavily discounted so we can learn how to use them.

There is a lot of potential for Later but the free version has ZERO potential. You can’t upload multiple photos to a post, you can’t upload videos to a post and if you try, you get this annoying pop up that says you have to upgrade to premium subscription…and the pop up doesn’t go away and you can’t close the box so you have to force close Later . Of course I don’t expect every marketing tool company to give handouts or discounts to students but the monthly cost on this is more than what I can spend just to play around with it and learn how to use it.

I will say that Later does appear to be very user friendly and has a simplistic/modern design. The subscription fee is pretty affordable for a company. This is an app I may consider down the road but for now I will stick with the tools I can get for free or discounted through my student status.

I am changing my review back to five star. I’ve had some issues, but things have been working well for a while now. I do believe that the staff take great pride in this app and are working hard to keep things running seamlessly. The vision is there and they keep improving it. Every staff member I’ve worked with has been kind and has genuinely tried to help. My only complaint with Later is that it doesn’t have all of the features the desktop version has, so some of my work I need to do on desktop, not my tablet.

I have one suggestion for the desktop version: It would be great to be able to move your entire schedule over to another week instead of having to move each post manually. There are times when I can’t keep up with my post schedule. I load photos and put them all in an order that looks great, then at some point life happens and I can’t get all the text completed for my upcoming posts and I need to move my schedule over. It’s a bit time consuming to have to move each individually, so being able to move the entire line up of future posts would be a great tool for me.

I downloaded Later because I was interested in scheduling Instagram Stories— p.s. I am only wanting the free version— but that feature is not included in the free version of Later . This was very frustrating to me because I had read the description of Later before downloading to ensure that I would be able to do what I wanted, however, it is conveniently left out of the description what the different membership levels include. After discovering that Later could not do what I wanted for free, I attempted to delete my account, but, let me tell you, it is never as simple as it seems. Later does include a helpful Help tab that clearly answers how to delete your account, but when you actually try to do so you have to log in to so many different things— go on the web, then search to delete your account again, then click the link, then scroll to the bottom of the page that you can only see half of on the mobile view and then cli- oh wait, you can’t click on a single hyperlink on the entire page. Now I will have to repeat the entire process on my laptop just so I can be done with Later that falsely advertised its free abilities. Do your research before downloading and making accounts on apps, friends, it will save you a lot of frustration!

this app worked well for me for a while, but lately there are more and more bugs. It’s no longer worth the money to me. I can no longer see a preview of any of the videos I post to Instagram, which makes the preview feature completely useless. It used to be just IGTV posts that wouldn’t show in preview mode, but now it’s any and all videos.
I’ve also lost several long, thought out captions because of some glitch that says the type of post isn’t supported or the media is “out of order.” I’m not doing anything different than what I used to do, and I never had these issues.

Don’t click over to Instagram in the middle of typing a caption, or you use lose the whole thing. It’s just one issue after another, and contacting support is not particularly helpful. They take forever to get back to you, and when they do, they tell you to refresh your connection. When that doesn’t work, they don’t have any other suggestion or explanation. I’m cancelling my paid subscription once I move everything over to Planoly. Later needs a lot of work. I’m disappointed. This is supposed to make planning Instagram easier, and lately it’s made it twice as difficult.

I subscribed to the paid plan based on the features it promised. After spending a good deal of time uploading & organizing posts, I realized I was unable to auto post as it said my Instagram account is not a verified business account (it definitely is). I spent hours troubleshooting & followed all the recommended steps to properly connect my accounts, still to no avail. I meet all the qualifications & followed all the directions to a tee, but this app just refuses to authenticate my Instagram & Facebook business page connection. Without that verification Later is essentially useless to me as I’m not able to use any auto post features. I tried to contact the support chat for help, and received no response. I finally got so frustrated I researched other apps & tried Planoly. It immediately connected & verified my accounts correctly & has been a dream to use so far! Literally took me two minutes to set up vs. the hours I spent trying to get this app to work. I recommend Planoly instead! I am out the money I already paid on this app & hours I wasted trying to get Later to work. It was a huge waste of time & a big disappointment! Stay away.

Earlier this year, I would have not recommended this app at all. There seemed to be a lot of errors in posting, and auto publish wasn’t available at the time. I was using Hootsuite, but struggled. It’s not easy if you want to keep a database of posts to use. It also constantly had connectivity issues for posting. I came back to Later to see if it would be better.

I absolutely love it now. I’ve been using it for about two weeks, and haven’t once had issues with posts going out when I need. My favorite thing is I can upload multiple pictures at once and choose which ones I want to schedule. It also sorts by photos you have and have not used yet. You also have the ability to save captions, which is helpful when I want to keep using hashtags that were successful in the past.

Keep up the improvement, this app!

this app mostly works for what I need it for, but a huge bug that makes it hard to keep using is that sometimes when I’m in the middle of composing a post, researching hashtags, etc, this app will refresh and lose my entire draft when I switch back over to Later from Instagram. It also sometimes does this if I have to put my phone down in the middle of typing up a post. I’ve lost three within the last week due to this and it’s starting to become more trouble than it’s worth. I can just write my posts up in Notes and it will be safer so why should I keep using your app? Please fix this bug!

LOVE Later! It’s made my Instagram life so much more enhanced. My dog is a pupfluencer, so it helps me be organized with the products that he showcases. What I love is the auto-post feature. I can schedule my posts ahead of time. It’s easy to use and very user friendly. You can save favorite hashtags into categories and then just click them as needed per post. You can also save separate captions so that they are just a click away! I have mine separated by my the products that my dog models. Once you have the post set up with your caption, hashtags, location and tagged users you can pick the date and time to publish. Save and done! You get 30 free auto posts per month....FREE!!!

I’ve used this app to run social media for a variety of small-medium organizations and businesses over the last few years, and I truly have never seen anything like it! It makes scheduling and posting posts on Instagram and Facebook truly a breeze, freeing up time to think big-picture about a social media campaign. It’s easy to reorganize posts, add notes to post on a specific date, and store and organize content. Not to mention the fact that they send out genuinely helpful newsletters once in a while with brilliant, unexpected tips for social media marketing keeping up with all of Instagram’s newest features. I would 100% recommend!

I’m an amateur youtuber and I post about my videos once a week (I upload on Fridays @ 5:00 Pm EST, my channel is Joiamusic). I have enabled auto post and have my posts scheduled out a month in advance for twitter, Instagram, and Facebook!! Later is great and the price per month of the yearly doesn’t seem too much, so once my trial is up after like 6 months more of posting 😂 I might give it a shot.

There is a suggestion I have that would help many people out! Add timed bio edits for Instagram and Twitter (I always put the links to my vids in my bio at least for insta) and also igtv scheduling. I personally don’t do igtv but I know others would love it!! Please keep up the good work and take my suggestions to heart.

We run a food product business and do most of our posting from our phones. After testing a number of content scheduling automation apps, this app proved to be by far the most user-friendly and with just the right features for a small business. Even the more robust and costly services didn't allow you to to do as much as this app from your phone. We would like a queue system so that you can bump posts ahead of the upcoming post, but it would be a small improvement compared to what Later already offers. We've already recommended this app to several other business owners :)

All in all Later has worked well and has improved my workflow tremendously. I like that I can work on this app from iPhone or desktop. I like that I can save groupings of content/hashtags. It’s easy to move posts around in my upcoming calendar as plans change. I wish I could post slideshows/carousels on instagram via this app (this may be available through a different version to which I can upgrade), I wish that mentions and hashtags were “live” while I was creating them to prevent typos, etc but I understand this is a legal (?) issue. All in all Later has worked well and has improved my workflow tremendously.

If scheduling posts is a priority and you don’t have a backup, this is not Later for you. Our account was down for over a week before I finally heard back from customer service after utilizing their help chat online, emailing, and tweeting them. When I did get a response, they told me to refresh my account status. That was not the problem seeing as when I went to refresh it my status bar was a green check mark, not an orange exclamation mark that would have indicated a connection problem. I was also told that they promise they’re here every step of the way to help. That’s simply not true. If you can’t respond in at least 48 hours, I have no reason to hold out hope that you care about my business or that your app will work again. I do not recommend Later.

I know Later does not post automatically to Instagram, rather help you schedule it and preview what it will look like on your feed (which is awesome). But it’s supposed to allow you to set up your posts w/captions and hashtags so that when you get the reminder it opens in IG for you, ready to post. Mine doesn’t do that. I get the reminder, I click open to Instagram and it just opens on the camera page. When I go back to this app to copy the caption and hashtags it’s no longer there because it thinks I posted it.. I’ve tried copying before clicking open in Instagram but it doesn’t allow me to copy it. I’m not sure if somethings wrong with Later or if this is just how it works, which would be kinda pointless.

I had no idea such an app had existed but just my first few days with it I am loving Later! I know the web app has more in the interface so I hope they can bring as much of that into the iOS app but Either way i love how easy this app makes it to schedule post and automate your online media accounts. I’m currently on the free account but as I use it more I am definitely thinking about upgrading in the future. Definitely check Later out and go on their website as well for even more features.

Keeping up with the times isn’t easy, especially when over 60 and running a growing real estate company, which is why I was delighted to find this app! Now at least we have a firm grip on our Instagram growth and in a few short months grown from a handful of followers to over 2k! Our goal for 2017 was to get to 1000 and we doubled it :o). This year we plan on reaching 10k+ with the help, education and support from the team at this app, we feel confident we will reach our goal, if not more, again. Thank You this app.
