Great app but have a question...

I love CheapCharts. Since I have switched from Blu-Ray to digital, I wanted something to keep track of discounts and deals on iTunes movies. It is phenomenal. I can add products to a wish list that allows me to track when they change prices. This saves a lot of time over my old method - opening the iTunes Store each day, scouring the program for deals.

One question, though. My wish list defaults to showing the prices for the SD version of movies and I can’t seem to change it. I have to select a movie and then click “HD” to see its price (which is almost always significantly higher). Is there any way to make HD the default?

This app will probably be responsible for my future divorce...

If I don't stop browsing every morning noon and night, picking up a movie here, a book there (all for a steal mind you, but still!). It's reminded me of movies I've loved but long forgotten about (on sale NOW, too! They saw me coming...)

Honest though, if you want a great place to find movies at inexpensive prices (if it's regular price now, wait a few days...it'll come down) then this is your ticket. Love the way it's laid out, too, very organized, and pricing is accurate. I also appreciate how it takes my purchases into account when suggesting other buys, like books or music.

This really is a terrific app!

Bug Fixed! Welcome back!!!

Thanks for the update/bug fix! Here is my updated review.

Feature Request: Love the large high res album covers. Any chance of adding artist and album/song title as text underneath or to the side? For musicians who don't actual put their name or name of the album on the cover.

This Bug Was Fixed: This was in settings but didn't work. Now you can set your Home Page and it works.

I use CheapCharts for Music Albums and Single to see when they are on sale on iTunes. But unfortunately with the last app update it keeps defaulting back to Movies every, single, time you open CheapCharts . Very annoying when 99.9% of the time your not interested in Movies. And you have to keep changing it back to Music. Used to default back to what you opened last which is what I would like.

This feature is in settings: I can change the size of text in CheapCharts .

Feature Request: A setting to increase the size of text used in CheapCharts . If your not 20/20 or are far sighted the text is really too small. Thanks.

Saves me a lot of money and time

If you’re the kind of person that likes expanding your iTunes library at a cheap price, CheapCharts is great! Put movies on your wishlist that you are interested in and get notifications when the price decreases. You can check the price history to see where the price has bottomed out in the past to ensure you are getting the best price. You can also keep your eye on the list of movies that are being discounted daily to find new additional titles to add to your library. I love CheapCharts and highly recommend it.

Confusing interface

Update: the interface is getting worse. There is no rhyme or reason to the grid shifting unpredictability between 3 columns and 4 columns. Then, you are constantly missing half of a column on the right hand edge. Very sloppy developers, no user testing, obviously.

On iOS, there are two different menus to switch between movies, TV, books, music, etc. This is needlessly complicated.

CheapCharts is useful in that it provides information that the iTunes Store should really provide much more readily. Unfortunately, CheapCharts suffers from a fixed, non-customizable display with only four titles shown per screen on Apple TV, which is way too few. Also, the scrolling on CheapCharts is not well calibrated using the remote, for some reason. This makes navigation very difficult and frustrating.

Best App!

CheapCharts is absolutely AWESOME to find the best deals. The way it is set up, SHOULD be the way Apple has their iTunes store set up. It makes it much more timely and efficient to find new arrivals, rentals, and price-drops for everything. I have spent A TON more money on the iTunes store than I otherwise would have without CheapCharts. Be warned. I'm sure the studios and Apple may not like CheapCharts since it highlights low pricing specials and I'm sure they'd rather have higher margins... Oh well, they SHOULD be happy of the $$$$ I've spent that I never would have without CheapCharts.

Essential app for deal hunters on iTunes

this app is absolutely necessary for deal hunting on iTunes
Updates with price changes very quickly so you never miss a deal
At bottom of each item it has a price history so you know if it is lowest price ever and how often it goes on sale to decide if you need to buy it now because it’s never been on sale before or if you can wait for sale later if it discounts every few months like some movies do
Helps prioritize in big sale events
Keep a wishlist of movies / tv shows etc and keep list of favorite actor/actress/directors to easily look through their price drops and get notifications
Very well organized compared to iTunes Store and can sort or apply filters to see only what you want
No more hunting through iTunes trying to find deals like being lost in a supermarket

Notifications are AWFUL

CheapCharts itself is great! It gives you great insight into when movies & TV shows go on sale. However, I keep almost pressing the uninstall button because the notifications are just so insanely terrible. I received 97 notifications at 4AM this morning. I scrolled through every one and not a single one was one that was on my lists. This makes CheapCharts virtually worthless. Occasionally when one of the few movies & TV shows go on sale, I decide to keep it a little longer. But the notifications are absolutely horrendous.
Also, the UI is pretty terrible as well. I can live with that though as long as notifications are fixed!

Never pay more than $4.99 for a movie again!

CheapCharts will save you so much money if you enjoy building a movie collection. Get it now and set up your wishlist. I add any movies I want to see to my wishlist so that I am always able to buy them when they go on Apple’s best sale ($4.99)!

There is no reason to use another app for tracking price drops. this app is perfect and free. Honestly I have no idea how they make money. (I never see ads.) Hopefully they get some commissions from iTunes.

iTunes only

I’ve only recently discovered the fabulous service of cheap charts. I realize this is the apple ecosystem but the this app web site shows information for the other rental / digital purchase sites. I just wish that CheapCharts could show all the services as not all movies are available on just the one service and a price notification would be great for the other services I use.

Great app but quality could be better

What bugs me is the notifications from CheapCharts. I have been using CheapCharts for a half of year. This bug existed for all of that time. App shows there are 3 notifications (number near CheapCharts icon) you go and check My Deals, clicked on an “eye” (marked as viewed), and now app shows notification == 1.
Another issue is that there seems like not a way to disable “movie of the day” notification. I only want to see notifications for the movies I have added to my wish list.

Great tool

I like to buy a movie every once in awhile and have tried to keep an eye on sales to find a good deal. Nearly impossible to find the sales on iTunes. CheapCharts not only keeps you updated on your wish list but also provides all movies that go on sale throughout the day. Also love how it shows the history of the prices for a movie. You can see how often certain titles have price changes as well. Great app for people who love a good deals.

Love this app!!!

I rarely write reviews, but CheapCharts is so good I wanted to support the developers! CheapCharts does exactly what it describes in ways that I never expected to love! There are so many ways to sort and search. I look at it everyday. It's that good! I only wish it would sync with my iTunes library so that it knew what items I already have - then I wouldn't be tempted to buy deals that I already own. In every way, it's surpassed my expectations. Really excellent work!

Great for watching for sales!

I like CheapCharts a lot. It’s really nice to have all the sales in one place.

2-Stars right now because I’m no longer able to add things to “My Purchases”. Every time I click the button I get an “An error has occurred” message, and the rest of CheapCharts stops responding. I can scroll, but no content loads at all. App has to be killed before content loads again. This happens 95% of the time.

A must have for iTunes purchases

CheapCharts is a *must* for anyone making purchases on iTunes. I can’t imagine how much money it has saved me over the past year. The interface is straightforward and simple. There are plenty of powerful sorting & filtering options. Very feature-rich. I like the inclusion of IMDB Top 250 too! Great job to the dev(s) who build CheapCharts. Thank you so much!!!

Fantastic

I usually only write reviews that are bad. After all, it’s a lot easier to hate on something. There are greats apps but I’m too lazy to write reviews for them.

That being said, I had to write a review for this app. I am impressed with CheapCharts. It accurately shows all the sales prices for iTunes. It’s saved me so much money by allowing me to buy movies when they are cheap, and even look for price trends, which is great.

Then they updated with a Christmas theme, and I love it. But more than that, the fact that they care enough to give us a new theme, or care enough to celebrate the holidays with us, I think that’s special.

They are always updating their app, and viewing it on the iPhone X looks fantastic. Great job, this app, keep it up!

Only option

If you’re like me who wants to build a library of stuff you own rather than pay 10 streaming services every month, then this is it. CheapCharts is awesome I never buy any movies anymore unless I use CheapCharts. I have saved $100s of dollars already easily. Definitely give it a shot if you want to buy your movies!

Great for tracking movie prices/sales!!!

One of my favorite apps! Allows me to easily track movie sale prices from the Apple store/iTunes. I never over pay for a movie. I generally buy regular digital 4K movies for $5 and animated movies/Disney for $15. this app shows the sale price history for all movies so you always know the lowest price to wait for. They are constantly improving their app.

Lots of savings

CheapCharts has helped me save a lot if money. Knowing when prices drop especially when Apple Yo-yo the prices I never to overpay again.

It would have been 5 stars but they issues with the movies on sale section. If you block or mark purchased for all of the movies they display for “today” then it won’t pull up any movies that were on display previous days. So then I either have to unblock a movie or wait until the next day.

Perfect tool to never miss an iTunes sale on specified media

CheapCharts is amazing! It enables tracking of current and historic prices for iTunes media (i.e. movies, music, etc.), as well as alerts you when prices drop, let’s you wishlist any media that you want, and uses colors to indicate best historic price vs current/increased/decreased price! Get CheapCharts and build your iTunes collection based on the timing of good deals!
