The app has flaws

This is a useful app if you don’t want to watch classes in your web browser, but you must have WiFi for CreativebugArtDrawingSewing to be of any use. I “downloaded” classes in CreativebugArtDrawingSewing before an extended camping trip, anticipating a lack of WiFi. Much to my surprise, when I tried to open it to view the classes I had “downloaded”, I got a sign-in screen. You can’t sign in without WiFi. When I contacted support about the matter, I received instructions to enable data usage on my phone, but I’m not using my phone! My iPad doesn’t have cellular data, also, most of the time if I don’t have WiFi I also don’t have a cell signal on my phone.

The Creativebug response to this problem: “ If your Ipad does not allow date (data) usage, then you will indeed need WiFi in order to use CreativebugArtDrawingSewing ! Apologies!”

The other annoying issue I have, which also applies to the classes online, is that when you stop a lesson part way through it doesn’t resume where you left off. You have to fast forward through the part you already saw, or watch it all over again.

Basic functionality portal to online subscription service content

CreativebugArtDrawingSewing is simply an app-ified interface to the content available online; as such, I’ll attempt to leave my opinion of the content itself to another venue.

CreativebugArtDrawingSewing , while visually smooth, is lacking in basic features one would expect for a paid subscription service - such as account management (which I suspect may be a calculated move to complicate cancelling subscription or auto-renewal) and help resources. There’s not a mention or a link to be found to the fully featured webpage.

Navigating CreativebugArtDrawingSewing requires constant clicking to view info that ought to be presented up front; there’s no way to identify if an offering is a 2-minute blurb or an actual full multi-hour course without opening the full details; same goes for bookmarking. There’s not even a way to view the multi-course curriculum paths that are available online, which is one of the core features of the whole system!

A quick note on the content... the legacy stuff is good, wonderful multi-hour courses that build on earlier lessons step by step, appealing for beginners and experienced alike.

I could do without the YouTube-style commentary and 5-minute shorts though...

In short: CreativebugArtDrawingSewing serves it purpose, allowing users to view content on their device. I wouldn’t recommend it standalone; be sure to make use of the full feature set on the webpage.

Very Happy

I thought this video was great! I’m not sure why people have negative attitudes I guess they do not get the “Happy Planner” idea. The planner is just that it’s to let each individual design and decorate their planner exactly the way they want it. There are NO right or wrong ways which makes this planner even better!! I call mine my Bible. She goes everywhere I go. You could call me old school.....you cannot trust your phone or computer they can crash and poof its all gone. I appreciate you ladies for coming up with such an awesome idea!! I mean who smiles when they have to pay a bill but when you have cute stickers it makes it fun!!! Thank you again for sharing this idea for the consumer!! For the negative Nancy’s out there maybe you should invest in the grumpy girl calendar because clearly you do not grasp this wonderfully perfect idea!!!!!

Love it so much!

My background is mostly art and a little bit crafty, and CreativebugArtDrawingSewing has enough of both to suit me. I adore the daily challenges every month. It gives me the extra motivating push to do just a little something creative every day when I might not be motivated enough on my own to do so. I love learning new techniques and learning about new products the instructors use. The community of artists and crafters is lovely too. I’ve connected with several new friends on instagram through creativebug while sharing artwork. And live shoots twice weekly give us a chance to ask questions and chat with instructors and each other in the comments. Love this place!

Useful but buggy

I just recently downloaded it and So far the classes seem great and very interesting. The production quality is great and there is a wide variety of topics. It very definitely seems to offer more than enough to justify the cost.

Cons: app seems very buggy. When you “go back” to the main menu, it automatically takes you back to the top of the menu which is super irritating. It’s hard to filter though topics so everything seems very muddled. I wish there was a way so see full courses in one spot because right now each section is scattered among every other topic. It’s very confusing and makes it hard to plan your watch list. I also wish there was a way to view topics from “start here”

Love the classes hate the app

The classes are great when you can access them! Unfortunately I have not been able to save classes to my library via CreativebugArtDrawingSewing , it took me some time to realize that they weren’t being added to my library. Customer service gave me back credits and had me try again. Still no luck. So their advice was to add classes to my library via my web browser in order to watch them in my app. Ok, not convenient but I gave it a shot. Well, I can add classes to my library via my online account but they still don’t show up in my library on my app. Pretty disappointed. My cell phone is my only access to the internet so an app interface is much preferred over web browser in my case. I do love the classes so I’ll keep supporting them until it makes me too irritated. Hope they can work out the bugs.

Love it

These classes are great, I find myself watching the entire course in one day. However, I think it would be nice if the videos would start back up where you left off instead of starting completely over. You're having to remember where you stopped watching and fast forward. I was also looking for polymer clay classes but there were none. But still have tons of selection and the teachers are great and very clear with direction

CAN’T Stop watching...

I’m new to CreativebugArtDrawingSewing and I’m already hooked!! I still have a lot to explore with all the different classes/videos that are on here. The ones I have watched are great plus being the D.I.Y gal that I am, I always love to learn new things. I can definitely see me watching these for hours. I’m into building rustic looking trinkets out of wood, I like working with clay, polymer clay etc., crocheting & some knitting. So I’m all over the board. I can’t wait to see what video I’m gunna watch next!!

Great Classes but hard to navigate

This is a great concept, and I watch videos just about everyday. The instructors are very good! I have found that navigating or searching on the mobile app for topic to study, is not easy. I would like to explore Creative Bug from a PC to see if that makes it ant easier to search or navigate.
I look forward to learning all that I can!!

Perfect for beginners

I found the 100 acts of sewing pattern on line and fell in love with it. I saw that Creativebug has a video class where the designer actually makes this tunic. It couldn’t have made me happier. In my area, it’s difficult to find a sewing instructor, watching this video online is the next best thing! Creativebug is well worth the monthly fee. Plus it’s not limited to sewing. I’m also interested in painting and jewelry making there are videos on these subjects as well!

Big problem- no landscape mode

Sine the video is filmed in landscape lack of landscape mode makes watching harder. And since most cases are designed for landscape mode, not having CreativebugArtDrawingSewing work that way limits usefulness.

Interesting that the main screen for finding a class will not turn landscape. But I did finally try a class and it went landscape. So why can’t the main screen be landscape also???
It appears that the class description was designed for landscape mode as it runs off the page in the “forced” portrait mode.

By

worst app

the worst app ever for watching... first, it starts on a portrait mode where you choose which one to watch or start a lesson with and when you’ve chosen a video to watch, it will auto load in landscape and then there are no buttons/settings if you want to skip or move forward to some parts. After one video or chapter, it will stop and go back to portrait mode again, then you click another chapter to watch and then it will load again in landscape. What a cumbersome task to be going back and forth from portrait to landscape modes. I mean it so much if you are watching from a 12inch tablet. Please make it very functional.

Abysmal customer service!

Contacted Creativebug a fourth time since my yearly subscription started and still have not received help to receive content to the classes. I paid $50 for the yearly subscription but my profile always says "upgrade to view this class". Infuriating! I just want my money back at this point, since no one can seem to help me gain access to the classes (even though I've provided you with a receipt and all my profile information on several occasions with no response from you after that). So yeah, one star (zero if I could!) for CreativebugArtDrawingSewing because what good is CreativebugArtDrawingSewing without access to content?!

By

Scam

I see many reviews of people with same issue I had. Getting the paying subscription and not being able to access anything outside of their ‘free’ version. I even saw a developer response which requested the person contact them with their info to help them get squared away. I emailed them weeks ago about my issue with no solution offered. It’s been time consuming and CreativebugArtDrawingSewing isn’t very user friendly (I used the website when trying to access videos and the like). Overall, complete dissatisfaction with creativeBug.

Context is great but the app needs some fixes

Previously, I’ve had no issues with the older version of CreativebugArtDrawingSewing but with this newer version, which I believe is a few months old now, comments are cut off on the left side of my iPad screen and you can only browse classes in portrait mode and not landscape. It wasn’t like that previously. You can view the actual class content videos in landscape but not when you are just browsing through classes.

100 acts of sewing

I met Sonia Phillips at a make faire in nyc and sat down outside under a tent and quickly assembled a dress! It brought me back to my days when in middle school we learned how to sew. Sonia’s booth was an awakening to how fast fashion has consumed us into the mindset of disposal clothing. We wear it and donate it. Yes Sonia, I walk right beside your mission
Let’s make our clothes and enjoy every bit of the process! Excellent instructor 5 stars

Awesome App

I’m a Crafty person and I really enjoy learning about new things. There’s new classes every month and different challenges. There’s classes for any level and the videos are really well filmed. It’s easy to follow and I’ve made tons of things, cookies, book binding, sewing a sunhat, knitting in the round and I really enjoy it! I’ve recommended it to so many friends and they really like it.

Love it!

I love the teachers on Creative Bug. It’s like finally having a whole group of artistic friends! I really like the way they regularly add new intermediate classes, so it’s not just a bunch of very basic beginner classes.
I’m always excited to see what they are offering next. To me, the small monthly membership fee is worth every penny. Thanks Creative Bug!

Crafting made simple

I Really love that I don’t have to go through hundreds of videos like on you tube to get to the one I want. All of the videos are fun, easy and instructive. I also like that they have free ones. I Would be broke if I had to pay for every craft idea I wanted to learn. This is just a really great app. Thank you Creative craft.

Overall Great Content

Love the content of the Creativebug website but CreativebugArtDrawingSewing is slightly annoying because you can’t filter the content. For instance, you need to look through all sewing videos, you can’t search for just beginner ones. If that was fixed, it would be 5 stars
