Why fix it when it was not broken?
2022-05-21
by Fish Netter
I really liked Suru—multiple lists, easy to add or delete, nice color schemes, but since the last update it is almost impossible to alter items. I have been trying to change the list without deleting lines and adding them back and it is just broken. It worked fine before. Tapping the lines now get no response, or a request to copy, or a request to move the line up or down the list.
Now I’m supposed to pay for a premium app? Not likely when it isn’t working well.
Frustrated

So I’m really frustrated and it won’t let me contact you from the “contact us” tab. I tried to subscribe to the yearly with a free 2 week trial. It said that I was set up but in Suru I was not shown as the paid version. Got an email from you stating that you did not show me as signed up. So i went into iTunes to cancel. Signed up again today but it shows that I will be charged on feb 18th when my “current subscription expires”. I never got the free trial. I’m sure I’ll like it, but why spend the money on a yearly subscription if I’m already having issues?
I liked it before the limitations and pressure to pay

I’ve used Suru for years, including subscribing to the premium features at times. However, with this last update, you are limited to a very small number of lists unless you pay for premium features. Suru is visually appealing and I’m a visual person. It’s also simple to understand and use. But it doesn’t offer much else and doesn’t justify the cost, IMO. And it will not be usual when for most users unless they pay, at this point. (I think there is a limit of four or so lists.) I would be more willing to pay a one-time fee than a monthly or yearly fee. I also read the developers response to a recent complaint and found it very unfriendly and unprofessional. It was sarcastic and while the developer(s) have surely put work into the development of Suru , not having understanding or compassion for why a user may be understandably upset at recent changes and responding so unprofessionally (and again, this was just a response I read,) makes me less inclined to support Suru as I don’t feel valued as a customer. There are a lot of todo list apps, many with tons more free features and there is nothing so special about this one. I would be happy to update this review if Suru changes for the better (ideally with advance notice given to users). Until then; I’ve deleted it.
More haptics = less frustration

I really like what Suru is aiming for, but when a majority of the interaction is duration/distance-based swiping, there NEEDS to be haptic feedback tapping me when I hover over each action. I need to feel the detail this interface is expecting me to approach it with, otherwise I’m playing a trombone. The sound design is great (something sorely lacking from a lot of apps) This is really promising, but has a ways to go before I’d consider relying on it as a daily tool. Integration with Reminders would also be dearly appreciated. I love the visual style.
Another notification from today didn’t go off at all, which should be addressed because it was a notification to take medication. I love the design and functionality of Suru but the notifications system doesn’t seem reliable.
Also, tasks with recurring reminders should reset. Like a daily task should uncheck itself every day.
Good but have an issue with this update

I’ve used Suru for years and love it, but the recent update, assuming I’m not missing anything, has me stressed. I have lists for each day of the week. I really like the idea of letting the user know how long it’s been since they worked on a given list, but... it seems, with this update, that the list screen auto-organizes by the most- to least-recently edited? This is a huge issue for me personally, as it screws up the order of the week. I otherwise love Suru, but it’s unusable to me in its current state.
I Love It !

The reason why I took two stars off is because I need to change notes all the time and I have to click it about 10 times for it to react so I can actually change the letters or words. So that is really annoying. But the design, the sounds, and colors are super nice and cool. Vedy easy and fun to use. And my notes have NEVER been this tidy before! Super. I recommend it if you like things to look perfect and clear. It‘s like a less confusing mind-map.
Love Suru!!

It's easy to use & makes it easy to stay organized. I just wish it would sync between my iPhone & iPad lists so that I don't need to type it in twice. Was my last review. I’m glad we got the option to sync between the iPad & iPhone even though it is a paid option. However, since I pay for the option, as soon as there is an iOS update, I don’t want to wait for this app to catch up. Now I have lists that I need with no access to them because you’re not updated. If you want me to wait for you to catch up to iOS technology, make the sync option free. Otherwise, you need to give me what I’m paying for, immediately or else you’re losing a customer.
This is a great app.... But there can be small improvements

I’ve been looking for an app like this for a long time. Suru is clean, organized and functions great!
SUGGESTIONS FOR DEVELOPER: 😋 -It would be nice to order the lists in other ways rather than alphabetical and most recently edited. I’m sure others would like to be able to drag and drop list items just as you can with the topics to personalize their view. For me personally I am using the list for each day of the week, so it gets messy when the lists aren’t in order from Monday-Sunday.
-It would also be nice to be able to choose a solid / outline design for different topics that are within the same list. The settings now prohibit one “style”. (I love the design by the way). This would really make a difference!
Suru does just about everything I want it to... quick task entry, subtask lists, a beautiful interface, reminders, etc.
But for me Suru would be perfect if I could drag sub-tasks out of their parent task to add them to the main task list. This would allow me to hide upcoming tasks that I don’t want to see yet and move them out when I’m ready to work on them. And while we’re on the drag and drop option, it would also be nice to be able to do the opposite... drag one task into another so that it becomes a subtask of that task.
Other than these niceties, Suru really is amazing! Makes it so simple to get things out of your head and into a list where you can plan things out and take meaningful steps to get stuff done!!
I love the app, just one thing

I was searching so hard for an app like this that would function sort of like “Clear” and “One List,” but would allow me to categorize the tasks by color. I found this and was so pleased by the formatting and design and ad-less-ness, but I have one request to bump the level of Suru up one more notch: please allow for more than 4 colors to choose from at a time. This would add so much more depth to the organization. Other than that great app.
I want to give this five stars, however...

Suru is gorgeous and seamlessly brilliant in it’s design. It quickly became my go-to for organizing thoughts! For those with attention-deficit disorders (who might also have a ton of different projects rotating all at once) Suru is the bees freaking knees.
I love the simplicity of it, but I want to see Suru evolve into a one-stop productivity machine! It’s just missing a couple of things that would otherwise make it PERFECT. It would be nice if it had a widget to easily view and cross off tasks. Also, a built in calendar or compatibility with iCal, would be most useful. Especially because Suru works on MacBook as well; having everything in one place, without having to revert to other apps, would be ideal.
Other than that, it’s a great app! If new features are never added, I’ll still use it. However, I’m sure I’m not the only one longing for these additions. 😉
Great Developer Feedback

I use Suru daily, and love it. I’ve been incredibly happy with the functionality of it to manage a daily to do list, and it has helped me visualize what I have going on so I don’t over fill my days. There was a recent issue with Suru crashing, I send feedback to the developer, and within hours it was fixed. I don’t know any tech company that resolves issues that quickly.
Wonderful App

I’ve used Suru for a couple of years and I love it. Fast, simple to use but holds so much information for me. I can categorize and break down items into subcategories the go into each item and add pictures and notes. I have used Suru for several projects and it has always kept me on track. Thank you.
I’m so grateful for Suru. I was recommended by my therapist to journal my daily thoughts and Suru is 10/10 perfect for that. As soon as I saw how affordable the pro version was, I bought it right away. No other app is as organized with such a great price. Suru is my saving grace. I love it!!
PERFECT LIST ORGANIZATION

Developer - PLEASE: Do not attempt to improve Suru with any unnecessary "bells & whistles" in future updates. Suru is beautifully designed and functions flawlessly. Too many times app designers have something perfect and then "improve" it - and what they do is actually destroy what the customer loves. I have purchased the upgrade - I have never used an organizational app pleasing to the eye and so well designed and I have purchased many. I highly recommend Suru - and I rarely leave reviews.
Unique & Thoughtful! Better Notes Maybe?

I was looking for an app to mind map my projects with and this one was a functional breath of fresh air. Very clean, elegant and intuitive feeling. Pretty delightful.
Would love a slightly more functional note taking interface. There’s no enter key line skip functionality. You have to tap a note icon to add a new section. Would love a more freeform experience.
Love the app

First off, I apologize that I didn’t read posts prior to me writing mine so therefore I may have duplicated previously posted information.
Cons: 1) cannot (at least that I know of) move a task from one category to another, for example,
Main categories: A. Miscellaneous B. ToDo 1) get car tires rotated 2) call James It would be nice to be able to move call James to miscellaneous.
2) cannot set a reminder to a sub-task. I can set a reminder to the main task but not the sub-task. It would be nice to be able to set a reminder to a sub-task.
Summary, the pros of Suru far out way the cons. I love Suru and would recommend to friends.
Better & better

Thank you! for putting in the ability to move items around! I still have a couple of things on my wish list (see below), but that move option is enough to keep me using and subscribing.
1. Option to automatically push completed items to the bottom. 2. Option for new items to be created at the top or anywhere in the stack.
Suru has been helpful for organizing my notes and thoughts. I love the look and flow of it! A couple additions that would make this perfect; To be able to has a sub note to a sub topic (without having to go into the notes area). But to still have the option of the notes area for the sub topic and added sub note tab... maybe an added button when you pull left or right on the box could give the option for the extra note area? ie. Sometimes I need three tiers vs. the two supplied... having the extra sub note on the list (in front/visual ) vs. going into the notes area. But thanks for coming so close. It is helpful!
It's got everything you need.

I love this thing! It is by far the most visually-pleasing note app I have found in Suru Store.
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, right? Suru has it all: beautiful color schemes, the ability to set reminders, the freedom to move your notes and sub-notes around, checklists, the ability to insert images, etc. I have yet to find a better app.
There is one thing, however, that keeps annoying me. It's more of a bug, I guess. If you want to edit the "detailed" text of a sub-note (found by clicking on the little arrow (>)), you're completely unable to scroll up or down once you actually click on the text. You're able to scroll through the entire text if you're just viewing it, which is great, but as soon as you click on the text to EDIT it, the ability to scroll just goes away. So, if you want to edit the very beginning of the text, for example, theres no way for you to reach the top without basically having to erase everything, since you can't actually scroll your way up.
This is the SOLE reason why I use another app to write and edit longer texts. I write my paragraphs there, and when I know it no longer needs to be edited, I then copy and paste it to this app. But that's so impractical. I wish I could do it in Suru altogether. It would allow me to get rid of the other app altogether.
It's a small bug, but it's a pretty tedious one. Nonetheless, this is app is totally worth it.
