I’ve been a dedicated this app listener for around 10 years. Every now and then Audiobooks will get bogged down and it will need to be rebooted, usually because I’ve downloaded way too many titles.

Well I just rebooted Audiobooks and OMG what a huge disappointment.

Audiobooks is designed by people who ether don’t use it or, I don’t know what. You can’t bounce around from download titles to library and so forth, you are unable to dim the brightness, the volume is no longer on Audiobooks . You could no longer...

Now a maximum of FIVE titles can be downloaded. Many titles are very short, poetry or children’s books for example. So if you want to, let’s say spend the day driving you are out of luck.

I suspect that this is about $ because with the new app adds pop up a LOT, way more than on the old app.

I could go on but you get my drift. I will check in periodically and see if some of the issues have been rectified. Normally, if I found a new app and it wasn’t set up better then this I would never return, but I feel loyalty towards this app because of the very many hours of pleasure it has brought to me over the years.

I used to like Audiobooks and use it frequently. I just got an iPhone 12 However and the advertisement that comes up before you can listen is not closable. The “X” to close the ad is way up in the left-hand corner near the time display which cannot be hit on an iPhone 12. Therefore I cannot get past the advertisement which is full screen. Thus making Audiobooks completely useless unless I pay for the non-advertisement version. Please fix this!

This is a nice app for listening to a wide collection of free books, seem to mostly be from LibriVox so you’re not always guaranteed a professional grade reader/production. But, generally acceptable.

I gave this three stars because Audiobooks won’t remember your location in the book/chapter, even if you have downloaded the book. So, every time you close and reopen Audiobooks , you have to navigate back to somewhere close to where you left off. And, if you haven’t downloaded the book, you will have to go find it again. Kinda negates the whole point of having a streamed audiobook if I have to keep searching back for where I was listening.

Lots of classics to choose from of every type. The issue I have is that not all readers are good and some are terrible. The good reader do a serviceable job. My advise is listen a lot of books, and when you find one you don't like go to the next. My recent recommendation is Treasure Island, especially if you have been watching Black Sails on Starz which is a prequel to Treasure island.

So I love the public domain rights including all LibriVox rec. and archives online that being said I am having a hard time finding a suitable reader in which I can download to my iPhone, windows based laptop & desktop or even if I had to run a separate os in Linux &c. So far so good but I need to try it on windows still and on the phone when I am listening and I want to stop it will not allow me to exit the screen?? I tried swiping tapping &c. All I found to work is closing the program and restarting...?
I would appreciate any insight or remedy to this

Wonderful app. I had the old Librivix app, which I loved, but have just discovered this updated version. More books s available on this one. However the old app has one feature this one doesn’t... the option of speeding up the narrators when they speak so annoyingly slow! It was a feature that I used all the time. Any chance that could be added to this version? If so, Audiobooks would DEFINITELY get a 5-star from me!

Has a bunch of classics available for good listening quality maybe soon I can finally finish the art of war and along with the Iliad also Edgar Allen poes stories an an the mysterious island by Jules Verne I've seen the movie but never read the book as it was just too long or I fell asleep reading it like the others above but still find myself fascinated by them due to various reasons and them being classics just wish the content gets updated sometime soon otherwise good

I haven’t had Audiobooks very long but I loved the idea of it and so far I like it and will use often. I am an audible member and have paid for many books that are in Audiobooks. I wish I would have know about it earlier. There are several improvements, however, I would like to see to make it more usable. First, as far as I can tell there is no way to add a book to a “read later” list or save it somehow for future listening without having to download the entire thing. Second, there is no where in the description of the book that says how long the recording is which seems like a huge oversight. Those are my main suggestions for now. Will probably have more as I continue to use.

Audiobooks increased my reading capability but what would make it a five star rating would be if they had more modern books such as Harry Potter or twilight and authors such as JK rolling or Stephanie Meyer or Laurie halse Anderson but still very good for children to read the much older titles such as Alice and Wonderland or Romeo and Juliet overall a wonderful App to have if you wish to not to waste money on a book nor that I think you’re wasting money by buying a book books are swell as well.

I just found Audiobooks, and though I’ve listened to only one production, I have very high expectations—to listen to many of the ‘standards’—outstanding!
I listen quite a lot; I had a brain stem stroke in ‘03, and was left with double vision. So, I donated my library to Union University, and have since looked around for listening sources.
I’m excited about the prospects of Audiobooks. I’ll change my rating after I’ve used it more.

This apps is truly great! I love to listen to books while I travel or do housework. This is a really great app. The readers are very professional even though they are volunteers. I like that I can download the books so that is doesn't require an internet connection to listen to the books. I can listen to them anywhere!

Now I rarely have time to read books for pleasure because of my studying. Audio books really helped me to get back on track. Audiobooks has been one of the most convenient and user-friendly ones. The amout of books is a little bit overwhelming. I'll be busy with it for months to come! A strong 5/5 for me.

I so very much enjoy listening to the audio books. They are so much fun and even educational. I like that you can find something to listen to from almost any category. Thank you so much for making Audiobooks possible and sharing it with the public. I only wish that I could be one of the readers, 😉 most of them do a great job.

It's really a great app ,helpful and useful.I can find the major universal novels on it, as well as I can find so many genres..I recommend my friends to use it because it is available on mobile and on i pad.I wish it was available on my younger age when I was at the university it would facilitate the study because the main basic genres are available.

I listen to this app every night to help with insomnia. Purchasing this app or "joining" a paid service is expensive. Audiobooks has a nice selection of classic books that are free and in the public domain. I was dubious about the potential quality of narration since it is done by volunteer readers, but so far I'm impressed! Narrators all sound great, sound quality on Audiobooks is comparable to professionally produced this app as well. Audiobooks is easy to use, search feature got me right to the books I was looking for. No wait for a download, hit play and the book starts and the content streams flawlessly.

Constructive criticism: Add a book mark feature, and maybe as others have pointed out, remove or edit the length of the introduction of each chapter.

Over all: GREAT free app with good quality recordings, excellent sound quality, and easy to use.

It has great narrative and I really like how it doesn’t have a charge every month like other audio book apps. The only annoying thing is it won’t let you listen to anything else after a few books, because it wants you to rate it five stars and write a short review. Normally I would no longer bother with Audiobooks after that but I really do enjoy it.

There’s an abundance of books in each genre. I have wanted to read many of the classics I didn’t have as an assignment in college literature classes, however, finding the time to actually read them is a completely different story (no pun intended). Now I can listen to them just about anywhere. There’s also a great deal of other this app that don’t fall into that category. There’s a genre for everyone’s taste.

I love classic novels a lot. All the best ones are on here. Best authors. The people reading these are so talented and keep the great novels great. Yes, it is all FREE. You will undoubtedly enjoy it all. I listen to these books whenever I have downtime...on a plane, on a train, when getting ready in the A.M. (Or P.M.), whenever you're alone and feel awkward just sitting there listen to a book! I am 19, but am an old soul, so can relate with most people. This is also a great app for college students who would like to listen to assigned reading on classics. ENJOY!

I found King James Bible books on here downloaded all I found plus I found a old time favorite story I always enjoyed reading I found on audible the New Testament but I can’t really get audible at this time but I think Audiobooks is as good if not better for coming to the things I want to use it for. Have you guys considered putting various prayer books on Audiobooks KJV for women? Could you maybe please consider it I’m a young Christian and anything like KJV prayer books and motivation books would be very helpful thank you for an amazing app

I've bought the Audible app and subscribed but they still made me submit a review before allowing me to continue listening here. 😑 some of the readers are truly terrible so as to ruin a perfectly good classic. "Dianna" from the Anne of green gables series comes most immediately to mind. In another, Peter Pan, every chapter was read by a different person which was disparate and bizarre. But still, it's a good distraction from the monotony of my work and I'm grateful for it.
