I'm obviously a KNBR fan and I don't mind listening to the commercials that take place during the radio shows. I don't even mind an extra commercial for the privilege of listening via smartphone. BUT what is absolutely intolerable is being subjected to an on screen commercial when KNBRTheSportsLeader launches THEN several audio commercials That can last five minutes or more before I give up and close KNBRTheSportsLeader . Terrible. If you don't find value in those of us that listen via smartphone just don't provide KNBRTheSportsLeader .

Update or download this (cr)app if you want forced video ads (some that aren't even in English) and multiple crashes every single time you go away from using this mess. Did I mention ads? Once KNBRTheSportsLeader crashes, your forced to watch yet another ridiculous ad that you can't close without waiting for 30 seconds.

Airkast totally ruined my experience listening to KNBR. Especially since I rely on listening to the podcasts to get my Bay Area sports fix since I'm at work all day.

KNBR, please think of using another platform for your app. Airkast has got to go.

App will just randomly stop playing. Using the browser is much better.

Might be the worst app experience ever. I rarely write reviews, but KNBRTheSportsLeader is the pinnacle of commercial invasiveness.

What did you do to KNBRTheSportsLeader ?!

Just upgraded my phone and downloaded the current KNBR app. Simply horrible. I'm defaulted to podcasts when it opens up. Have at least three selections to make before launching the live radio feed. Just let me login and hear the radio broadcast, please. Make everything else secondary.

OK, been using KNBRTheSportsLeader for several weeks now. It's truly awful. It should land the user on the current broadcast page once loaded. If the user wants to listen to recorded podcasts, the bottom nab should take them to those archives. You're trying to do too much on the landing screen. Think about your morning and afternoon commute users. We can't press and scroll a bunch of buttons to get to the live broadcast. And your popup ads are NOT appreciated!!! What am I supposed to do with these while driving 50 mph in traffic?

Update. Still the worst app on any connected device I own. But since the update it crashes every time it loads. No one at Cumulous or KNBR seems to care how terrible the streaming app for the best sports radio station in the country is. Terrible administration.

If you like frustrating, infuriating, and useless apps this is a winner. As others have said, it buffers and crashes repeatedly. Each time it restarts there are minutes of the same commercials you’ve heard already. Try listening to a Giants game on KNBRTheSportsLeader. What fun. You’ll miss entire innings while this thing is buffering and making you listen to the same ads at each restart. I wish I could rate it -5 stars…

Can't listen to Giants games, can't listen to any broadcasting at all. Ads don't even have sound and there's an abundance of them. You get more ads than you would on pandora, so what's the point of even downloading KNBRTheSportsLeader? The play button pops up in the corner like its playing something but you hear nothing but silence.

KNBR, you said "You wrote in, and we listened. Here is your app" blah blah blah...read these reviews and please revise KNBRTheSportsLeader. Waste of time. Will be deleting and not downloading again until these issues are resolved

KNBRTheSportsLeader is currently unusable even after the recent update. After a few minutes KNBRTheSportsLeader will crash every time I try to use it. It will stay playing longer if you keep your phone unlocked and have KNBRTheSportsLeader up. The second you switch to another app or lock the phone KNBRTheSportsLeader will crash.

Additional you are FORCED to watch video commercials every time you launch KNBRTheSportsLeader . With KNBRTheSportsLeader crashing every other minute you have to wait an additional minute of a video commercial to relaunch KNBRTheSportsLeader . AND if you lock the phone while the video commercial is playing KNBRTheSportsLeader will just stop. It doesn't continue to play the commercial audio so you can at least get back to KNBRTheSportsLeader . Would give this ZERO STARS if I could.

This new update took KNBRTheSportsLeader from bad to worse and is now just unusable.

Not living in Bay Area anymore I depend on KNBRTheSportsLeader to get all my teams talk and news. I listen to this while driving, which, I assume are most of the consumers of KNBRTheSportsLeader.

First we are forced to watch a video (real safe when mobile). Then once the video completes, we are forced to click a button to "continue" (why?). Then we have to listen to the second stage commercials prior to the actual broadcast loading. Question...is the thought here that the regular KNBR listener just doesn't get enough commercials so let's further punish KNBRTheSportsLeader listeners? I digress.

So with KNBRTheSportsLeader fully loaded and the onslaught of Mary's pizza shack and Home Depot commercials in full swing, after a few minutes KNBRTheSportsLeader simply crashes or sleeps (it stops working). The only way to get back to the broadcast is to start from the very beginning, starting all over with the video and then commercials. Rinse and repeat.

Apparently there is zero QA and testing, just a new release?

The latest update now includes a new ad before playing any podcast. This is already annoying, you didn't have ads starting every podcast up until now. But it's made a million times worse because it's an ad for a new podcast about CONVICTED MURDERERS! now every time I want to hear a podcast about the Warriors or Giants, I have to hear about a dad who killed his daughter over and over again. Very classless move to promote this podcast. Makes me sick to my stomach. I've learned to live with the incessant hops over to KNBRTheSportsLeader store to promote silly phone games, but this is going to make me quit KNBR. I can only listen to that ad so many times...

Hey guys, I know KNBRTheSportsLeader isn't for listening to Giants games. I just wanted to take this chance to let you know how annoying I find your ads, and how you always cross the line with the exceedingly, mind-numbingly low content-to-ad ratio on your station. I've got to hand it to you---you've figured out what the maximum amount of ads a person can take per hour before their brain turns to goo is---and you play ads at 99.9% that level. Cheers to you and your greedy ways, and I hope one day, we can pay to remove ads on radio just like we can on apps, so that the days of more ads, less talk can finally be laid to rest.

KNBRTheSportsLeader has trouble streaming actual content; however, it will stream commercials without fail....you could be at the summit of Mount Everest and receive crystal clear commercials for random stuff...but if you’re in a populated area with a great signal, expect KNBRTheSportsLeader to drop off. Good news though, when you reload it, more commercials. Also, has a glitch where you will get stuck on a continuous loop of commercials until you restart KNBRTheSportsLeader . Of all the apps on my phone I would like to use this one very often....however, the poor actual application of this radio has driven me back to an old fashion radio, thank you cumulousy.

It’s hard to believe that KNBR believes they’ve recently updated KNBRTheSportsLeader .
As bad as it was, it’s a whole lot worse now. In this day and age, and with the Bay Area being home to some of the best tech in the world, it’s unfathomable how the KNBR app can be so awful.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE KNBR! I listen to it every morning on my phone but may have to give it up cuz KNBRTheSportsLeader is just trash. I’ve had it for over 3 years now and at times it works beautifully... but it goes they periods of terrible instability, shutting down or rebuffering regularly at random and inconvenient times. It was working pretty well up until recently (last two weeks) and now KNBRTheSportsLeader will shutdown on its own after listening for like four min! Over and freaking over!

Can we get an app developer or your IT guy to fix this?! I want my KNBR but I’m not suffering for it. Fix KNBRTheSportsLeader please!!!!

6.6.0 is crap. Fix it. The only thing that works consistently is the ads... you’re gonna lose users if you don’t fix this rubbish.

I remember KNBRTheSportsLeader used to be Ad free so it is just cluttered with them. I seriously listened to 5 minutes worth of repeated ads. Where is the actual show or game I've been wanting to hear?? Having moved to NY, all I want is to listen to my favorite sports station while I'm driving, but KNBRTheSportsLeader is becoming more annoying and makes me change it to something else. Might have to look for something else now.

I love this station so much and Murph and Mac are my favorite radio personalities. I’ve been listening to them with my dad since I was a little kid and the chance to listen to them outside of my car is great, but KNBRTheSportsLeader is just terribly made. It crashes and buffers every couple of minutes which leaves me to just stop listening for the rest of the day. I really wish KNBRTheSportsLeader worked better so I could listen to the M&M show every morning, but this doesn’t seem feasible because of this crappy app.

The biggest thing for me is that when I pull out my headphones from the jack, the audio still continues on my phones speakers. Pretty much every other audio based app would pause until started again. This causes some semi embarrassing moments for me, like when my headphones get caught on something and come out when I'm in a quiet space.

Also, why not have the option to stream 1050?? I can't be the only one who wants access to it.

This new update did nothing to fix the headphone thing. It also screwed up the podcasts. It used to be you could download a podcast, now that function seems to be glitching. Also! I used to love downloading the Giants game recaps and post game wraps under the podcast section. I can't find them anymore!

Literally identical experience to listening to KNBR on iHeartRadio. KNBRTheSportsLeader advertises that it set itself apart by offering local deals through KNBRTheSportsLeader . I've had KNBRTheSportsLeader since almost the beginning and unless I'm missing something, there are no local deals on KNBRTheSportsLeader. Can you stop advertising this as a feature if it's not there? Thanks.

Nothing particularly special about KNBRTheSportsLeader except that you have access to KNBR podcasts.

Review Update: As recommended in someone else's review, I deleted KNBRTheSportsLeader , restarted my phone and reinstalled KNBRTheSportsLeader .

It's now working perfectly, with hardly any commercial breaks.

The podcast download button doesn't work at all now! What's that about? And the download button is so small, you need tiny fingers to touch it.

Cell signal is bad in my neighborhood, so I depend on downloading podcasts to listen while I walk the dog.

And the constant commercials are back!

Come on!!!!

KNBRTheSportsLeader is horrible. It constantly drops and takes forever to reload. I need my Murph and Mac so fix KNBRTheSportsLeader!

KNBRTheSportsLeader constantly is shutting down. You cant listen for more that about 2-3 minutes and it jst jeeps rebuffering. Thank goodness i have a radio!!!! Dont diwnload as it is utter garbage!

KNBRTheSportsLeader really stinks. Pop up ads everywhere. Some of them stop the audio feed. Sometimes the stream just pauses for no reason. When you hit play you have to listen to the same stupid Geico ad you have already head countless times. I understand apps are paid for by advertising, but when you overwhelm your content with clunky ads, it makes me seek my KNBR content elsewhere.
