GREAT station monitoring app!

As the owner of a PWS (and a NWS meteorologist), I have used/posted to/monitored the wunderground app for years. While that app offers more features (forecast, photos, etc.), I’ve been frustrated by how difficult it can be to use it to find the actual current and past data from an individual station on a mobile device (iPad) - which is where PWSMonitor is FAR superior! My one request to the developer would be to allow for the option of showing the data from a station selected from the map WITHOUT having to first add it as a favorite.

What is there is 5-star quality

I needed an easy way to be able to check the graphs from a PWS station, or two. Well, this is it. Very clean-cut interface, easy to read and attractive. It is 5-star quality. Why am I only giving 4 stars? The big thing that is missing is a way to view the charts from other days, by tapping an arrow or entering a date. When Matt adds that, 5 stars all the way!

There was also a suggestion to show the current data from any site by long-tapping it without making it a Favorite. That is a great suggestion! Just a pop up of the current data would be perfect. For charts, it should be a favorite. But it’s really awesome to be able to select a pin and see the current data instantly.

Works well!

Love the graphing ability. Best app I've found yet for PWS monitoring. The only thing I don’t like is the graphing intervals. For instance, my UV sensor will have Y axis graphing intervals of 0,0,1,1,2,3.... rather than a standard graph intervals 0,1,2,3... same thing for wind! Currently it has intervals of 0,4,7,11,15,18 on the graph - these numbers are not the same distance apart. This is misleading and poor practice when making any graph. I’m a stickler for accurate representation. Also, it would be nice to have UV readings to the tenth decimal point rather than whole number. My Davis 6163 reports it to weather underground that way. Otherwise, it’s awesome and way more handy than WUnderground and my go to app!

Handy weather data

I can get the weather conditions in my front yard 10 times faster with this than the ad-filled weather channel app. The graphs are very useful for historical data which no one else provides. How cold did it get last night? My only complaint is that the barometric pressure readings are off. My only suggestion is to link in a five day forecast. Then I will never use TWC again. Ever! It would also be cool to swipe right and view previous weather. Regardless I love PWSMonitor and it’s totally worth it.

Trending

Thank you for providing the trending charts for the PWS’s. WUG Storm had 12 hour trending but TWC killed that app and went all pretty with less data.

The trending charts are invaluable in my area since we can have localized flooding that the other national reports typically miss.

If the developer could provide a previous 12 hour trending chart that would be even better than starting over at midnight but I must again thank you for the information you are providing it’s been very helpful.

Can you add indoor temperatures to display on the app?

I love PWSMonitor, the layout and the graphing functionality. PWSMonitor is far superior than the other apps available for displaying personal weather station information. I would give PWSMonitor a 5-star review if it had the capability to add the indoor temperature readout available from the weather station display, including any readout from a remote temperature sensor. This temperature information is available when I log into the Ambient webpage, but unfortunately not on PWSMonitor…

Great app, even better developer

This is a very good app if you want to view your (or another) weather stations information at a glance. Everything you need is there.

I have reached out to the developer a few times with suggestions and questions and he has been super responsive and helpful. Very few times I ask if I can help support an app financially, but this is one that I am excited to help!

Ahhh Almost Perfect

My old go-to personal weather station app got bought-out and ruined. I was a lost weather-soul until I found this new-to-me app.

PWSMonitor has all the useful features and detailed data a weather nerd wants at a glance. Excellent! And swiping through my favorites without going to a list ? Awsome!

Now, I *would* like the ability to add a nicknsme to saved stations ... but for getting *everything* else right, definitely 5 stars.

Wish I had this long ago

I had a PWS years ago that died, and never replaced. Now that I’m back in the game, I’m having a blast trying out new apps and websites. This one is cool as heck. I like the swipe over to go trough the stations, but a pull down would be nice. That is a minor thing, and I’d almost hate to change it up too much, but maybe some quick navigation to switch between stations. 5 stars otherwise. Well done.

Simple, Concise, Perfect

Too many apps are bloated and full of crap you don’t want or need and make terrible use of limited screen space. PWSMonitor nails the ability to give you everything you need on actual weather observations in a clear concise layout. It loads and works fast because it is small in size and not full of unnecessary features, videos, ads etc

Excellent app!

I truly love PWSMonitor. So much faster to see my PWS than wunderground in a browser.
One negative - strangely, the map of “find stations near me” has several that are unavailable, though a few weeks ago they were. And sometimes, on the iPhone, that map opens centered a couple miles from me and seems reluctant to show my area …
But overall, a BIG thank you!

Clean and quick interface. May be the best!

I’ve tried a number of applications to monitor my personal weather station and this ap has the best and most informative display of any that I’ve tried. The old Davis WeatherNet-1 software was also good but they are phasing it out for WeatherNet-2 which doesn’t work well and has a confusing layout that looks like mess thrown up on a wall. Thanks for making PWS available.

Exact information from your pws..

Exact information. Nothing extrapolated and added like other viewers do. Great tool to see you pws's performance. Its basically PWSMonitor version of the data screen you see when you got on WU online and look at your history and is what's missing from the WU apps. Would like a pay version as that banner ad is getting annoying and is using useful real estate.

Found this ever since Wunderground decided to strip the best features

Great app, amazingly simplistic and complicated all at once. Displays weather data directly from a network of PWS. This feature is what I loved about wunderground, sadly IBM purchased them...and someone thought it was a great idea to remove the ability to check the weather from a PWS near you. Lame. Uninstalled. Replaced with this.

The Best Weather app design.

I have multiple weather stations and have used many different weather apps but PWS design is the best. I love the layout and the charts. It does not have a link to radar but everything else is there. I know they are working on doing an update for multiple days data display which will be nice. Keep up the good work.

App is great... but it’s missing something.

PWSMonitor works really good, however, there’s no Historical Data previous to midnight. It would be nice to be able to view Historical Data beyond the midnight starting point.

Also, it would be great to be able to zoom in on the graphs to be able to get a clearer view of conditions throughout the timeline.

Other than that, this is my go to app for seeing what’s happening on my PWS(KOHHILLS24).

Excellent local weather source

PWSMonitor is my go to source for local weather in my neighborhood. It’s reliable (except for the occasional weather station dropping off- not the fault of PWSMonitor ). I really like that the developer is continually providing updates and adding new features. I’m looking forward to the subscription version.

Just what I was looking for

This is just a great clean app. I can easily see my station info with far less annoying ads than most other free versions. I hope a paid version comes out soon to get rid of the ads altogether. However according to the faq section the developer is currently reworking PWSMonitor to work with the new API calls from his weather data source.

Great app regardless of WU

This is a great little app that shows you all you want to know in a quick and easy to read layout. It’s really unfortunate that the weather channel API refuses to give temperatures and other values with decimal precision. I’m not sure if they would allow it, but it would be nice if PWSMonitor could also pull in data from the weather cloud API, which does support decimal precision for temperature.

Simple yet perfect

I use PWSMonitor to check the data points of my personal weather station when I’m away from home. It has a very simplistic, basic design, which is exactly what I need. Don’t need all the bells and whistles, just want to be able to see the data. The graphs are pretty excellent as well. The creator also seems to be pretty responsive to feedback.

By

I love this app

Okay, a bit over the top, but it’s true.

I love the simplicity. It finds the PWS you point it at, and quicker than some other apps I’ve looked at, shows you the numbers and then the pictures (graphs)—what more could you ask for?

Well, since you ask, it would be nice to be able to rearrange the order of the graphs, and also nice to see indoor temp if the PWS broadcasts it.

PWS Monitor Provides The Most-Accurate Real-Time Weather Data‼️‼️

I am grateful for your excellent weather and wind-speed application❣️ I moved to a fairly remote location and have unexpectedly discovered that this area experiences 30-40mph winds with frequency! This makes working outside difficult. Your application is allowing me to schedule my activities around the wind obstacles❣️❣️❣️
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT APP❣️

Great app

I follow several local personal weather stations. PWSMonitor gives me quick access to the conditions. I also like to use screen grabs of my Davis Vantage Vue’s weather data to post as an image on Twitter and Instagram. During weather events, PWSMonitor has easy to read graphics and makes a great way to share the local temps and winds.

Wonderful and classy app

I needed an iPhone display for my weather station and this is just perfect. Nicely laid out. Simple. Retrieves data from my weather station via Weather Underground. Great job! But please come up with a paid version to get rid of ads!
KFLORLAN110 - update: after 2 years it is still an essential and beautifully designed app.

Problem with refresh time

Charting is going backwards? Times are off by hours!

Apparently the problem was Weather Underground servers. No surprise there. Seems almost all problems can be traced to their servers. Has been a problem for over six months. You’d think they would catch on?
