Can’t see all step files in a folder

STEPFileViewer requires authorization (?) to open step files. It is unclear how to provide authorization to all step files in a folder recursively. In addition trying to open a folder contained within an enclosing folder only shows some of the folders.
These problems make STEPFileViewer useless.
