Not worth it

It’s fine recognizing albums with the artist information on the center label. But anyone with eyesight can do that. If the center label is a picture or doesn’t have a lot of information about the album…it’s useless. It also can’t identify between different types of pressings. Great concept for an app. Just falls short of being useful.

Terrible + AI advertising

Finds the correct album, but can’t decipher versions and variants. In my opinion, the most important part when looking at value. Usually I’d just delete it and move on but came back to give a 1 star after seeing a horribly done AI ad on instagram. You guys can’t hire someone to talk about it? You can’t do it yourselves? Seriously I might’ve even sat back and waited for an update if I’d seen a good ad. Don’t trust any company that cuts corners in favor of using AI where people should be involved. Telling as to why the service may not work very well

Get back to me when you’re FREE

Why would I pay for a service I can get for free? Discogs is the way to go so I’m not going to pay for a subscription that really adds no value to my collecting experience. Did I mention there’s absolutely no sure fire way to estimate value based on a PICTURE?!?! Do the words deadwax and serial number mean nothing to you guys? Serious collectors won’t take you seriously and once a few hundred buyers get screwed by inaccurate valuations your app is gonna tank. Go back to the drawing board or you will fail….fast.

Just ai doing an average of the label

I showed this a local band limited print the AI read the label and just said it was $15. Then hand drawn a record label for a fictional band and said it was $15. Then showed it an obviously bootleg album and it said it was for $15. Then showed it a rare pressing and it said it was worth $45. VinylSnap just reads the label, does a quick internet search of the average value of the album regardless of released or pressing.

Your guesses are better.

I can just imagine people scanning their hacked up 20th pressings of beetles albums and thinking they can retire. Half the records they don’t have and what they have they price incorrectly. 20$ Christmas albums, hard to find records for a buck… stuff in stores now for 20$ at $1,000. You don’t want this if you know anything about vinyl and you really don’t want it if you don’t!

Failed after two attempts

I downloaded VinylSnap to try for free. First Scanned Deep Purple Burn. Results no problem Second Nazareth Razamanaz. No problem. Johnny Winter Second winter Network error? no results? Steve Hackett Please don’t touch, network error? no results? Both with “network errors” try again. These artists are not that obscure…. Didn’t work for me. Canceled the trial

Save your money

I tried VinylSnap out to check on my record collection. The first three or four albums I took pictures of, they were correct. But when I looked some of my rare stuff, the recommendations were way off. I even tried on others with some luck. So out every ten, maybe one would work correctly. Some of my collection don’t have bar codes. I’m glad I remembered to cancel my free trial. It’s a great concept, but needs some love.

Very limited

It’s a cool Idea but still needs work, it’s not accurate enough it doesn’t work with picture discs you have any other way to add data other than picture the center, doesn’t give details about your particular version and values are not very accurate will cancel and check when and they improve.

Good idea…not quite ready

VinylSnap doesn’t correctly identify albums and if you attempt to edit and save, it doesn’t lock in to your collection after. Good idea, in theory….but poor execution. I’ll come back in a few years, once VinylSnap has enough followers and backing to work properly.

Functional

VinylSnap is functional but needs improvement from my perspective 1:better grouping and sorting for storage in a collection (ie)grouping by label, genre, artist.
2:better identification, and valuation fo boxed sets

3:evaluation of printed material included in some albums(ie)the inclusion of a 45, poster.
4: when identifying picture discs VinylSnap should better note that the album is indeed a pic. Disc.

Not completely reliable

It gets the overall album right but can't decifer which version so your value is often inflated or deflated as such. However it gives you a starting point I suppose

Soo far…

Doing the 7day trial, like VinylSnap so far, but needs a better way of correcting info for us 80/90s DJs who have tons of White Labels promos, Test Press, Acetate. Would prefer if the valuation be near Discog since that’s site been around and basically the Gold standard for valuation and history tracking on bought and sold records. Not a big fan of subscription model so if VinylSnap would consider lifetime purchase at a reasonable price, I’d would do it. Also like how Discog will let you printout/download your collection PDF/excel/sheet form so hopefully these small thing are added later on.

Scanning the crates

I’m enjoying the process of scanning and discovering the surprising value of my collection. I wish VinylSnap allowed for reorganizing the records as I would in my physical collection instead of it being just one list. That way I could go through a specific folder instead of the entire listing. Ability to add an audio sample for each vinyl would also be nice.

This is gonna take some time.

Howdy, I’ve got around 11 or 1200 LP’s that I’ve collected over 50 years and purchased to play, as I loved the music. They include a wide variety & although I know folks with larger collections it’s nice to finally catalogue mine & get an idea of their worth. Thanks.

very cool a lot of opportunity

This is an awesome app. My only complaint is that if it doesn’t recognize the album like it did with a couple of the horizon albums there’s no way to add it manually.

Absolutely Amazing

I have vinyl I just knew VinylSnap would not recognize but so far it has recognized everyone of them. Great Great app

Duane Haatvedt

Great app but you should add an order option like alphabetical are from most expensive least expensive

Awesome App

Thank you it’s been so much fun going through my old vinyl collection and seeing the value of some is mind blowing.

Great app for vinyl enthusiasts.

I love VinylSnap it seems to work perfectly, it helps getting to know my record collection better. I wish they didn’t use the word “vinyls”, it’s like saying “waters”.

Barebones but Useful

VinylSnap is super user friendly. incredibly fast at identifying records. currently no extra bells n’ whistles…as in, no filters or sorting for your library entries.
