Yeah.. so if your like me, broke! you won’t even get a lesson they get you all excited getting you all set up just to hit you with a paywall, you have to pay to even use LingoTok and it’s $7 a week 💔, yeah no didn’t even hit me with a free trial or nun don’t even have an X at the top of screen to even click out. and reading these other people’s reviews LingoTok isn’t really teaching much and doesn’t let you progress ( there’s a limit to learn a day)
I have spent the money for everyone so they don’t have to. I have a few complaints. When selecting the category of what you want to discuss with the AI, it only says a few words to start you off then says “we will practice more tomorrow” which took only 1min of “practice”. You could asked the AI how to say certain phrases but the “tutor” aspect is what it is lacking. I want more than just 1min.
Second, it seems to cut off midway on the AI trying to pronounce the word for you and so now you don’t know what the word is. It may be picking up sounds even though you have the mute button enabled already while it speaks.
My biggest problem is that there’s no course for you to really deep dive into the language. It’s best to just use Duolingo and Rosetta Stone to help more with learning and pronouncing. And to pay for such an app that is having all these issues is extremely disappointing.
I got LingoTok because I saw someone use it on tiktok. I purchased the three month package thinking I was going to be able to practice my korean but it is honestly no good. I set it up to have 20 min lessons and with both the male voice Alex and Female voice Sarah they teach maybe 2 words that I already know and then try to end the lesson. No real learning going on as I only repeat the one word and had to force the voice to keep going but the cycle kept repeating of try this twice and I will see you next lesson. While using it i dont think it tracked my days using LingoTok since the lessons never reached 20mins and the audio would glitch out at times as well so i couldnt even hear a response after repeating the 3 new words. I would honestly save your money and go on sites like italki or preply to get real 1 on 1 lessons with a tutor.
I literally just downloaded LingoTok because I saw on TikTok that it looked promising. I’m about to travel overseas and would like to have at least a basic knowledge of the language. As I try to sign up, it requires a payment of $12 per week or $50 every three months. Which isn’t bad, but as I try to learn the language, I’m doing so through LingoTok. The bot keeps on cutting off, so I don’t hear the phrases that they’re trying to teach me. Or it cuts me off mid-reply, and half the time it won’t pick up what I am saying. No, it’s not my device that is messed up; it’s theirs. So, overall, don’t waste your money. Try to find someone who’s a real person. Now hoping and waiting apple will give me a full refund.
It is disappointing that there isn’t even a trial to test LingoTok . It goes straight to paying. Sure we can cancel it when we want to, but if we don’t like it that’s money down the drain. I wouldn’t even bother giving LingoTok a try. Education is an opportunity for all, but denying it right off the bat for money is corporate greed.
This has so many glitches, it will stop hearing you. it will randomly start loading. It goes so fast and It doesn’t even let you process the word that is teaching you. The screen goes black every so often I have to keep tapping it or I will lose the progress and we’ll have to start my daily routine over again. She cut you off every time or does not understand what you’re saying. I pay $50. Three months this is totally unacceptable. They should be a free trial. I guess now I know why there’s none.
This whole app is scammy! It makes you pay before you can use it no free trial. LingoTok itself is super glitchy. There’s a discord link in LingoTok that takes you to a discord group that says ‘booktok’ and has no posts or anything related to LingoTok . A bunch of us that got put in the discord from LingoTok came together and talked about our experience and really think this is a scam! DO NOT BUY!!
Spent $6.99 for a week, immediately regret in less than an hour. It only has voice features. It interrupts you. Bugs out and will restart and go over the same words in the same call or it will just simply not reply to you at all. Their pronunciation is bad. I pronounce something how a native would say it and it tells me my pronunciation is wrong. One call, it even started with instructions in my target language and I had to remind it my settings were for English instructions.
Don’t waste your money.
Like many other reviews I’ve noticed that as they are saying the phrase they want me to say the AI just cuts off. Most of the tutoring is me asking “what did you say? It cut off” I’ll keep LingoTok for the 3 months I paid for and I will hope they can fix this issue but if not I will be ending my subscription
I paid, and it still only teaches me two to three words or phrases. It kept saying, 'Let’s practice something new tomorrow,' and I kept asking, 'I want to learn more,' but it would say, 'No, I didn't plan to leave at all.' I want to teach you. I asked them to teach me five words or phrases and keep practicing until I remember them and feel confident, and at first, it would say Yeah, let’s learn for 30 more minutes, " and it would forget what it said and kept saying Let’s learn something new tomorrow. Do you know what’s the worst? After 9 minutes, it stopped teaching and went quiet, and I kept waiting until I couldn’t anymore. So, I had no choice but to call off, and I got the same 85 scores at the end of each call. It’s very annoying and frustrating that I have to go through this after paying. It would be an excellent app if these things got fixed.
Very frustrating to use. It teaches you about 2 words a session with no practice. When you insist that the tutor practice more with you, you get like one more prompt. There are some nice things about LingoTok, including the report after the session and being able to have language instruction in any language you choose, but useless for practicing for more than a couple of minutes.
The chatbot constantly cuts you off before you’re finished saying something and cannot properly hear you. It glitches a lot. It asks you to say something three times and it lets you say it one or one and a half times before talking again. To make matters worse, it asked what my favourite Mexican street food was and I said “Elote” and it said “¡Tacos, excelente!” I’m a no sabo kid so my pronunciation is not THAT bad to say the least. It’s actually laughable. Great idea though.
I am glad I only did the subscription for one week. It has a weird lag after about 8-9 minutes where it stops responding. So I have to force close it to start another conversation everyday. There is not structure to the learning at all. It is very open ended and not good if you are just starting to learn. The interactions when it does work is cheerful and encouraging. However, it lags a lot and does a weird loop of having you repeat a phrase or word then says something along the lines of “we can learn more tomorrow.” LingoTok needs more work.
The more casual korean tutor bot, “Sarah” is absolutely sending people offffff D: the pronounciation of 떡볶이 it INSISTS is correct is insane and it has an extremely strong american accent. I’m just getting started with LingoTok , and the other bot Alex seems to be totally normal but I don’t like that immediately based on what little knowledge I have that one of the bots was so completely wrong. Brings up my cautions about AI in general…
I really love LingoTok, but I wish you had some sort of saving conversation feature so we could pick it back up
It helped me learn Spanish is no more then 5 weeks it a bummer that I didn’t have any money to get the trails so I can do more but I’m happy with my results 🤗
A week using LingoTok is like doing duolingo for a few months!!!
I’m only typing this because they said for us to leave a review🥀
no seriously, i fired mr yoshida after getting this app. it's a bit american sounding but so much cheaper lol
I just started using LingoTok and so far it's been pretty fun. It's kinda like FaceTiming a tutor and having a conversation.
