this doesn’t really give you much extra. it uses your phones maps, and you connect your music. so far the only thing i see that i have to pay forty dollars for is to skip my music more than 4 times easily. i can still skip my music i just need to use the control center on my phone rather than CarPlayConnect . but at that point why do i even have CarPlayConnect . i gotta use the map app to put where im going anyway, and open my spotify to skip music if i need to. so at this point i might as well do what ive always done. why would i pay 40 dollars to unlock things my phone already has. the other options aren’t really saving money either. if you don’t care enough to throw money away at CarPlayConnect that doesn’t do anything for you, you might as well just buy a carplay screen and attach it to your car.
Would be nice to be able to connect to Apple Music and set destinations on the apple map. It would be very useful on an iPad for cars that don’t have apple carplay.
The UI is reminiscent of Carplay, but sadly there’s a long way to go. For starters, the default map uses Apple Maps and there is no way to set a destination. It’s just showing your current location. The Music widget can only connect to Spotify and there is no way to use Apple Music or maybe even Youtube Music. It would be nice if you could use your map app of choice (google maps, waze, etc) and your music streaming service of choice (yt music, apple music, etc.).
I like it personally I think it lacks a few features but you’ve got a pretty bare bones and functional car play menu here and I personally will continue to use it
If the devs were to see this I’d love a way to set destinations and CarPlayConnect is perfect
Need to get a fix to add rideshare apps
I wish Apple Music worked with it. That’s my only major issue.
