Some Comments From a Faithful User

Overall, this is a much-needed resource for bringing current scholarship and apologetics to the layman level. This helps mitigate the obstacle that can be rigorous academic papers and dense scholarly works by presenting that research in more easily-digestible forms of content. That said, the app is not perfect. I’ve been using it here-and-there for roughly a week now, and here are some of my observations:

The name. I love “Defend The Faith”, conceptually, but it executes poorly due to the much older, more prevalent meaning of the abbreviation, “DTF”. Please workshop an alternative so we can avoid the unfortunately coincidental abbreviation.
Badges. The idea of badges is great! They help incentivize use of the app, which is always a good thing in the context of building faith. However, it isn’t quite clear how the “Promote” badges are earned. What are the milestones that each badge level celebrates? This is not explained in the badge descriptions.
Profiles, following/followers, etc. It took a bit to figure out how to follow other profiles, but after some clicking around I was able to make some headway and figure it out. Perhaps there’s a way to make it clearer or easier to follow other users? Some functions of the app appear to depend on this feature, such as the “Friends & Family” feed and the “Following” badge.
Progress tracking. What is the feasibility of implementing an external indicator of how much progress you’ve made in a module, aside from the orange circle/green check that exists in the “Learn” section of a module? This could help users streamline their consumption of the content, so they know exactly where they might need to pick up reading again if they’ve taken a break and forgotten their place.
Bookmarks. Speaking of forgetting their places, is there a bookmark function implemented into the app? I could not tell if there was, but it may be worth considering given the wide range of topics and materials presented in the app.
Functionality within a topic. You may wish to revise the functionality of certain parts of the app. For instance, in the “Heavenly Mother” topic under the “Critics” section, none of the criticisms and answers can be fully read because of the formatting of the titles; they push the button that allows one to read more outside of the clickable area. I haven’t perused every section yet, so it is possible that this is not the only instance of this problem.

Have a Problem with Defenders of Faith? Report Issue

Why should I report an Issue with Defenders of Faith?

  1. Pulling issues faced by users like you is a good way to draw attention of Defenders of Faith to your problem using the strength of crowds. We have over 1,000,000 users and companies will listen to us.
  2. We have developed a system that will try to get in touch with a company once an issue is reported and with lots of issues reported, companies will definitely listen.
  3. Importantly, customers can learn from other customers in case the issue is a common problem that has been solved before.
  4. If you are a Defenders of Faith customer and are running into a problem, Justuseapp might not be the fastest and most effective way for you to solve the problem but at least you can warn others off using Defenders of Faith.
