First off, the app makes you go through a lengthy setup process, and only then tells you that there is no free version, only a one week trial of the mandatory paid version. This is after putting in all your info like weight, height, dietary preferences, etc. Clearly a hidden design intentionally.
The setup is also not well designed, making you enter text answers to questions that should be optional, like if you have a special dietary restriction, making you type out “no” instead of just making it optional.
Doesn’t give a good impression, and it’s bad to intentionally hide the payment scheme of your app until after a significant time investment in hopes that more people will sign up.

After filling out all of my information with the intention of trying to app for the trial and very likely purchasing an annual or monthly subscription, I was incredibly disappointed to find that there was no free trial at all. I am not going to blindly drop $20 on a monthly membership to test out an app that I could end up not liking after an hour, a day, or a week. yes, the subscription model is unfortunately ubiquitous nowadays but the inability to even test basic features of the app for free/at a discounted rate (ex: I would pay $5 for 5 days) immediately made me delete the app.

I got sick of typing everything out rather than just searching based on a keyword. It's slow processing any input and answering questions. If you're not very specific it will just grab something from a similar category which may be very different in calories and nutrients. I tried taking a photo of a granola bar wrapper and it got confused. If you ask for food suggestions or recipes it will give you almost verbatim what you get for free from Chatgpt. It's not easier and doesn't save time and is expensive.
