UPDATE: since they responded to my review, I’ll say it again. Paying your artists for SOME of their work and then using AI for the rest is not the same as ACTUALLY paying a team of artists to illustrate your entire game. You use AI art, period. Just take a look at the slide with the “four personality types” and try to tell me what’s going on in that girl’s red shirt. If you couldn’t be bothered to pay for real art for your game, I’m not interested in playing it.

I wanted to like NomiSim but couldn’t really get past the uncanny AI character art.

Played a single story (which, in itself, somehow packed a huge amount of boredom into a very short span of time), got to talk to input answers to some personality test thing in which I genuinely could not tell if it was just an as dumb as rocks attempt at an AI response or they just inputted your responses into a pre set sentence structure (which obviously doesn’t work when you can answer whatever you wish) and then got booted into a stories screen which never loads. Not to mention the obvious AI art usage, which, gross. Gross behavior.

I am enjoying NomiSim okay—the stories are either a little bit too straightforward and obvious in what they’re measuring or sometimes without a clear indicator of the type of choice you’re making. Also, I played the Blake lively one and it makes her seem like a real jerk? Because she doesn’t want people commenting on her body? I don’t understand why they write her as an absolute ahole—I’m sure she’s a complex person like the rest of us and doesn’t deserve to be villainized by people who have no idea about who she is as a person. Seems whoever made the game has a weird vendetta on her. I also wonder if they got legal permission to use her likeness in the first place? I would find it hard to imagine she signed off on this.

I absolutely love the concept of this game and the stories are great for the most part (some are a bit limited with choices) so I would completely give this a 5 star rating if it weren’t for NomiSim crashing so much. I have to relaunch the game and then scroll all the way down to each story at least 4 times in order to get through a story that should take 5 minutes to complete.

I know it’s only 2 developers so I will absolutely be revisiting this game and re-reviewing once they work the bugs out!

I really like NomiSim so far, even though I’ve only had it for a few days. I haven’t had issues with bugs, and I appreciate the breadth of it. I love the variety and inclusivity of each story, and I can definitely see the vision.
While I understand financial constraints, my biggest critique is that I really wish AI wasn’t used for the art. I understand the Dr. Reid part of it, that isn’t particularly off putting since I understand the feeling of personal connection in the analysis it gives. But, it’s disappointing to me that a big portion of the creative work wasn’t don’t by actual creatives. If nothing else, I hope NomiSim gets more popular so the creators/devs are able to hire real artists. It would be really significant improvement, and I would be much more open to loving this game if that was the case.

This is a really interesting idea but I've had some serious stability issues. It constantly crashes to the point that it crashes 4-6 times every time I try to play through a single scenario which causes me to have to restart the scenario each time. It crashes after about 30-60 seconds of even just having NomiSim open. I'm on the current version for iPad but it's still crashing constantly. It makes it hard to enjoy the functionality when you're constantly losing progress and having to try to speedrun the choices just to get to the results before it crashes again. And due to the crashes I have yet to be able to get through the Dr. Reid unlocked thing.

The thought is really sweet, getting to get some AI help towards self-reflection. I’m not even a fan of AI, but the product doesn’t get cringy or sus. I love getting to experience the different scenarios provided. They’re overall very well-thought-out. Most situations don’t exactly apply to me or something I’d do, but how you react to it is always interesting regardless. Something I really noticed about NomiSim was the lack of invasive ads and requests for money. It was such a refreshing experience, and I fully intend to continue supporting the developers by playing. Looking forward to what’s next!

The concept is very cool and I love the combo of a choose your own adventure/role play with a personality test! Unfortunately I can’t make it through the first scenario without crashes. I had three hard crashes in the first scenario and had to restart from the beginning each time and another crash when I was about to get my insights. I see this is a small team and I am using a 12 Pro, so it could be that I’m on an older iphone though!

I couldn’t tell at first but I was scrolling through their stories and yeah, no doubt about it. NomiSim and its producers are using AI to generate the art. Do with this information what you will. I am giving it high-ish rating because I like the concept, it’d be cool if they could get an actual artist to do the art.

I’ve always loved interactive stories and personality tests growing up, and NomiSim has beautifully combined both of these! I’ve loved learning more about myself while enjoying these entertaining stories. The developers are also very active in the discord and extremely open to feedback and ideas, which I truly appreciate! Definitely recommend NomiSim!

I have really enjoyed and loved NomiSim so far, especially the “Insights” in betweens…they actually caught me off guard a few times but in a good, raw emotional way y’know? I feel a little more in tune and reminded of who I am as a person. Really excited to see what else they come up with!

What a gem! Its like take a personality quiz but more fun because its a game. My part is the friendship test, picking choices my friend might pick. I also love the profile it generates for me based on my choices and the chibbi art is so fun. I think dr Reid is a nice little twist but for me the fun seeing the results I get and playing with friends to see what they think about me

NomiSim has played a huge role in my mental health journey.

The purpose of NomiSim is to give insights and help you discover who you are, and as someone dealing with depression and a very low self esteem, NomiSim did just that. It helped me find my positive and negative traits: the negative ones I knew well of, but the positive ones I didn’t realize were a part of me.

Though NomiSim stories have a specific pathing and a “correct” answer, they record what choices you WANTED to make, which gives more insight in your character rather than placing you in a box of “right” and “wrong,” as some people would like to paint.

After every couple of stories are played, you are brought to a conversation about why you made the choices you did, and it gives possible reasons, but ultimately allows you to record your own. And after enough stories are played, you are given an overall account of who you are.

This detail of NomiSim is very developed, though I’m still not entirely sure how it works. I imagine I am speaking to a sort of AI that takes my information into account and compiles reasons and possible personality traits, to find why I’d make those specific choices.

Of course, as NomiSim is still in earlier stages, there are bugs to be encountered. But there is a very responsive Discord community that pays attention and listens!

I have a great time with NomiSim and I love learning more about myself. Thank you to the developers!

I love how interactive NomiSim is and that it saves your choices to get a better understanding of your personality. It’s so fun doing all of the different scenarios and finding out what my personality type is, and to see if the description matches how I feel about myself. There aren’t any annoying ads interrupting every 5 seconds and for me personally I’ve never had an issue with the game crashing.

I used to play Episode like every day, and I feel like this game is bringing back that feeling for me. It’s so cute and all the stories are well thought out with personal results at the end of each. It is sad that you can’t replay them if you get a bad ending, but I understand since it’s supposed to be for finding out your personality. I love playing this game and hope new stories come out soon!

I haven’t had any problems with crashing since downloading the game last week! The stories are unique and refreshing and I like that you can type in chat with Dr. Reid to get insight. It’s really clever and makes you really feel like you can influence the game! Good job guys and keep up the good work with development!

Only note would be that I think it’d be nice from a player perspective to have some longer stories with chapters as you get more into cause it can get a bit repetitive after playing it for a while and feel a little boring only doing short stories once you have your “character.”
Just a suggestion though! Love what you have going on and think this is really good for an early stage game!

Not only is it a free app, it’s super fun AND also helps you learn more about and love yourself through fun and interactive story roleplay! What more could you want from an app?!
Granted, it is a new app so I understand any bug or development issues, but I’m sure they’ll all get resolved shortly. Overall, amazing app, it’s something I never knew I needed until I got it. It’s definitely unique and one-of-a kind, and I’ve truly never seen another app like it before <3

So far, I’ve been having such a fun time playing this game and learning more about myself! I actually got an ad for this game while playing another game (Merge Mayor) and thought it looked super cool. I’ll be honest, I usually don’t have high hopes for RP games, but I really wanted to give this one a try. Once it was downloaded and I opened NomiSim , I immediately liked it.

The art style, the developer humor, the stories, the way NomiSim has been put together, even the AI (which, I know, very controversial subject, but I promise that aspect is not in any way overwhelming in NomiSim)—all of it is so familiar and entertaining, and it definitely catches the eye in a positive way.

Another great thing is that the developers have a Discord server where they are active with their community and always taking feedback and suggestions, and they’re always there to help when needed. Even the server feels warm and inviting, so that just makes everything about this game feel so much more lovely.

Highly, HIGHLY recommend! :)

I honestly downloaded NoMi to pass the time but was shocked by the depth NomiSim goes to! A vast majority of these role play apps have frankly terrible options but the options in this were all things I would try.

The feature that surprised me most was the daily insight. I honestly was prepared for my written answers to be ignored and the prompts to continue but it truly reads and responds to your input! I’ve put answered that completely went the opposite way of the question and it responded to the change and followed that new track.

I’ve even realized a few things about myself since hearing the input and answering questions! It was definitely worth the try and I’m eager for more content!

I’ve been waiting for this to become an app for so long lol! I saw when it was just a beta website and had so much fun and love NomiSim . It actually gets my traits lol and describe them in a way that’s not just super stereotyped, it’s kind of comforting lol.
