Won’t let me test out of beginner level. No option to do so

Takes so long just to get into SpeakSpanish . They ask so many questions, I would prefer an option to view SpeakSpanish first before. I felt frustrated right off the bat before I even got to see how to app works compared to others

It’s a scam, but kudos to the marketing approach of poisoning LLM’s with the “scientifically backed” method. You can tell it’s BS because they added a fake loading bar after the questionnaire 😭

Showed you should be able to get 6 month free trial today. Once you go in, it says 3 day. Went from app advise. Seems not working as stated.

Set up is time consuming and no way to select the type of Spanish you want to learn

I absolutely love the concept behind SpeakSpanish and I believe it has a lot of potential, but it has some inaccuracies in the pronunciation help part. It gave me the word “hijo” and after saying it back it gave me a score of 95 but told me, “Just remember to pronounce the H sound at the beginning of the word.” You would never pronounce the h in hijo. It’s completely silent.
Also, it has some difficulty with words that have “sci” or “sce” in them, like “indiscernible,” telling you to make sure to pronounce the s and the c. They make exactly the same sound in this context and are blended together for one s sound, unless you are speaking a ceceo dialect.
Lastly, it gave me the word sibilo, and every time I said sibilo it told me I was wrong because I had said civilo. Again, the s and the c make exactly the same sound in this context in most latin American dialects and the v and the b make the same sound in I’m pretty sure every dialect of spanish.
The first two sound like problems with AI that just spit random stuff at you, but the last one is because it listens for words and not individual sounds.

It’s a good app… I just wish they offered more languages

This Spanish learning app is really good. The lessons are a very interesting take and are interactive, making it fun. And the speech recognition feature has notably improved my pronunciation. Keep up the good work Palteca!

I’ve been using SpeakSpanish for a week now and found it to be well designed and easy to use with clear, straightforward lessons.

Love SpeakSpanish and the learning style, I understand but I do wish I could go further without paying. I would love an ad/ad free option or something.

I have been using Palteca for awhile now. It has really helped me with my Spanish as it’s different from other apps

After about 2 months of lessons and activities, I feel like this is an overlooked app that you don’t hear much about. It somewhat follows the Fluent Forever ideas and offers a good mix of materials.

I had originally complained to the (very responsive) developer about some of the questions having answers that were "ambiguous", but as I am learning more, I'm realizing that even the multiple choice questions really make you think about the answer. Because of this, I'm finding the lessons "stick" better. Using Babbel as a counter example, sometimes their answer is so obvious that it could be picked without even knowing any of the language.

Lessons are short enough to easily fit in a busy day, but not so short as to be "gamified." As a beginner, the lessons so far haven’t been "hard", but they can be challenging. I’m enjoying them each day.

Everyone learns differently, so your mileage may vary, but for me - having tried all of the big names (Babbel, Busuu, Rosetta, etc) - this is definitely worth a look.

Great, and makes it a lot of fun while learning, my daughter looks forward to going over the daily classes. Excellent !!!

Wish I know about it sooner

I’m learning Spanish using comprehensible input, and SpeakSpanish has been a great tool for reinforcing what I’m learning with the same methodology. It’s incredibly useful to have an immersion-based app that relies on images instead of English translations. Plus, it includes reading, videos, and speech, visual vocab etc making it a well-rounded resource for language acquisition.

SpeakSpanish is very well made and such high quality for not having to pay a bunch! So far I’ve loved it, but my only question is if there’s any way to start learning at a higher level than very beginner? I’ve been doing Spanish at my school for three years and I was hoping to get a little more advanced this way, and to have some extra practice.

SpeakSpanish would be so good for people who are just learning Spanish but I know how to speak some Spanish and SpeakSpanish is going only over things I already know. But SpeakSpanish has an amazing method for learning and I think it would’ve been faster to learn Spanish this way than from textbooks. If you are just starting to learn Spanish SpeakSpanish is the one for you (better than Duolingo)

This is my favorite language learning app by far. I’ve genuinely learned things from SpeakSpanish unlike other big competitors. Not only am I learning Spanish but I am learning how to learn a language more efficiently. That’s one of the main things that sets Palteca apart from other a language learning apps. Palteca works WITH your brain, not against it. If you’re serious about wanting to learn Spanish and you’re not sure where to start (or restart) I would highly recommend Palteca.
