I struggle with wearing the exact same outfits over and over, so I was excited to try this app. I’ve logged over 100 items in my closet (which didn’t take too long actually) and have been working with the algorithm to try to get it to “learn” me. A couple notes of feedback though for the developers:

1. I notice ALTA gives me a lot of repeat outfits. It would be nice if it could see I have a saved outfit already and not continue to suggest the exact same thing. Sometimes on the homepage it’ll say “here’s 10 looks for CYZ” and all ten will be the exact same thing, so it really only created one look.

2. the trip planning feature is very cool but it’s clunky. I think Alta should suggest outfits first, then give you a packing list, rather than do the packing list and then try to make outfits from it.

3. I wish I could tell Alta my schedule and have it fill my calendar for me, like telling it if it’s an office day, work from home day, or a day I’m going to Pilates.

4. I notice that ALTA favors certain articles of clothing and doesn’t recommend others. It’s always trying to make outfits with this one pair of pants and hardly suggests any other pants options.

I’m excited for the potential of this app, and look forward to seeing it develop over time.

I love to sew, I have a mix of vintage finds, and odd non-designer items and this app has really helped inspire me to not only catalog what I have but see myself in my clothing in new and exciting ways that feel a bit like I am shopping my closet. The team has also been receptive to feedback in a human way (despite the AI product) and that feels pretty great, too. I find I like many of the recommended products they offer up in some of the outfit combinations, and appreciate that the app mostly delivers combinations using items I already own. It doesn’t feel entirely oriented toward shopping, so if you’re used to downloading apps that end up having a hard sales pitch around every corner, this is not that. It’s very useful and makes even my oldest clothing feel exciting again. I consider myself to be a creative person, but the way the app remixes my closet is really refreshing and inspiring me to rethink my own style in fun new ways. I find this app so fun, I’ve been recommending it to friends.

Now I don’t usually do app reviews but let me tell you I LOVE THIS APP. I’ve had this app on my phone for around 3 months but I just found the energy last week to put all my clothes on it. I love this app so much I literally took 2 hours last week to update all my clothes into it and I never realized how much clothes I had. I always GK shopping cause I don’t have any outfits but after putting my clothes in and it would give me ideas on what to wear it became so helpful. The only downside is it gives me clothes that I don’t have. This helped me so much and I feel like I became better myself at making outfits. I never had a problem with making outfits it’s always that I thought I couldn’t make an outfit with the clothes I had. It’s an essential that every girl should have on her phone and on the plus side ITS FREE. I’m still trying to figure it out and maybe if I started when I first downloaded it I would have mastered it by now. But GET THE APP. It’s worth it!
