What is this "Pro" version for?

I got and used this app due to it's ease of use and good design. I have dozens of full length audiobooks imported into it totaling many gigabytes. Now I'm being told to pay for a monthly subscription to both have "no limits on the number of books" and "no limits on listening time"? You mean I have to pay to continue using the basic functionality for an audiobook app I've previously enjoyed? What a scam.

Constant pop up every time I open the app asking me to join the monthly subscription. The pop up has a timer before you can close it.
You used this app from the beginning and now want to switch to another app? Too bad, you need to pay to export your audiobooks.

Don’t be fooled - this app is $2.99 / month as of April 2025. For “free” you can listen to up to 30 minutes a day, along with some other restrictions, making the “free” version useless. I’d sooner pay an upfront fee than sign onto yet another monthly subscription.
