Last night, the community received items in their inventory, no warning, nothing was even sent to our inboxes. The items were 999x pet fruits that had like 20 stacks (probably trying to help out a buddy of theirs by gifting that into their inv and accidentally gives it to the whole server). 15-20 minutes later they put the servers into maintenance. 8+ hours later they say maintenance is done and now, everyone with a character on the game is banned. I’ve searched all over the web (FB, IG and google) to see when I can get back into the game to play my character which I put time and money into and can’t get in anymore. Me and tons of other people are having the same issue of being able to create new characters, but not being able to play our characters.. Gravity.. Just own up to how you messed up and refund everyone that spent money.

I have good tolerance for games that require some level of spending and often spend money myself. But this game is extremely predatory. Every single event on opening day requires in-game purchases. The daily/weekly/monthly package deals and purchase limit adds up to over 2000$ easily. And that’s just scratching the surface. We haven’t talked about multiple passes, monthly subs, event items, cosmetics package, etc. Offline idle grind are also penalized unless you spend money to raise your vip level to get more offline grind hours (default is capped at 2hrs I believe).

P2W players and F2P players will never be on the same playing field in any of these mobile games. But this game next it to the next level. You are not even in the same dimension. If this is what it’s like now, it’s only going to get worse as player count dwindles over time. Save yourself some time now and avoid this game.

Gameplay review edits below my initial review.

As the title says - the game literally doesn’t work…at launch. Not a good look fresh out of the gate.

I will circle back with an adjusted review IF they get the game up and running. I was excited for a nice return to RO but companies really need to stop releasing games when they aren’t ready yet. Even on mobile devices.

As many have said it’s extremely P2W in a predatory fashion.

1. Auto progression locked behind a $15 pay wall. Battle speed increase locked behind a SEPARATE $5 pay wall. Typically, if you buy the more premium pass you unlock those features and the lower tier features.

2. Auto progression is designed to not fully work because you make it about five stages before the story narration takes over and force quits the auto progression. So, what did I spend $15 for if I still end up having to almost constantly click start and progress?

3. PVP Arena matching is horrible. Spent an hour trying to match with someone at my power level to complete win conditions for a quest and couldn’t do it. My team is not weak btw. That’s also ridiculous. Especially, if you’re going to have “win 30 battle” quests instead of “fight 30 battles”. Sadly, this resulted in falling asleep at 29/30 and that section of the “daily server quests” you can’t do later - they can only be done actively on that day of those daily quests. Also predatory. If you’re going to have that quest line structure then design a viable matching system. Though it’s probably purposely designed poorly to induce frustration spending so again, predatory.

Does have some of that RO nostalgia which scratches the itch a little but their practices are actually predatory and malicious which is quite disappointing. Feel free to hard pass or play for free to kill time occasionally. This is staying at 1 star.
