4.5 out of 5
Not a bad game

This is a pretty good game, but it crashes way too much. Usually, when I try to do something like make a black hole the mass of 2 quintillion suns, the screen will become yellow and I can’t add anything or focus on anything. Another thing that needs to be nerfed, is that there is an enormous advertisement frequency. When I am trying to do something crazy, or an ad will reset it all, or if I try to add another space body, it will crash or give me an ad. One more thing that needs fixing:

There are huge orbital problems. When I try to make something like a star system or solar system, It will orbit weird or crash. These are the issues I hope will be fixed. I give credit because it is one version 0.22 or something close, But I think they need to be fixed, and if they are, I think it could be an amazing simulator that would help little kids understand a little more about space.

Unstable orbits and other issues

One thing that has been happening for a while is terrible orbital mechanics. If I’m creating a custom solar system, I try to place moons around orbit in a planet. But over time the moons orbit falls out and ejects itself out into space around a star. It could happen if placing to many moons around a planet or having a large moon with several smaller ones. Although there is an alternative way to fix by using a Sphere of influence. A gravitational sphere of influence (abbreviated as SOI) is how large a planet's gravitational influence reaches into space. For a celestial body to orbit around a planet, the celestial body must be inside of the sphere of influence of it. If it's a moon, that moon will have its sphere of influence of its own. The moon can have satellites of its own and have their own spheres of influence. It keeps ahold of the moons a planet can pull. But a SOI is only finite due to the radius and mass of the host planet. And some other suggestions I would like to consider is a reverse Timelapse option which could be useful. And some overhaul options and to rework physics and graphics mechanics. Thanks for reviewing this review. Update if possible.

There’s more!

Hey Developer! I request you to see my 3 requests!
So first, gas giants do have atmospheres, and they only need to stay in gas giant status. If they don’t have atmospheres, then they’ll turn to the rocky planets.
Second, The star has solar flares, and that flares are strong enough to disrupt the internet. Not only that, they also cause ecosystems problems. So if you add to the game, the planets with their life systems will cause problems if the solar flares hit them.
And last, planets, moons, stars, and black holes had Roche limit. So the one of the small celestial body will be torn apart by the big celestial body.
That’s all 3 request here! If you can accept one of the requests or more, please contact me when you have an idea for my requests.

Solving problems to people and giving a rating

You might have experienced ads but this game can do it with no wifi or cellular data! just turn wifi and cellular data off and you will have no ads. Now heres my rating. Pretty good game just alot of bugs like i try to make earths moon a different moon but it keeps turning into water. Also planets get out of orbit sometime when you create your own solar system. (forgot to tell yall if it kicks you out you just have a low end device because thats called crashing. it doesnt happen to me)

Nice but the ad frequency…

Although this is a good game still there is too much ads. I want to buy the no ads thing but it is 4.99. I do not think that is the right amount of money to make getting no ads fairly. Every time i click on a button, i get and ad. Here is an example of the problem. I am trying to give Vesta a moon, all of a sudden, i get a ad. Can you atleast help us reduce the ads by making it so you can reduce ad frequency by watching a ad. A example of a game that does this is Melon Playground. It lets you watch an ad to reduce the amount of ads you get in a certain amount of time. Please fix this problem!

Nice game!

Awesome game! A few suggestions for updates though, add more type of stars like blue super giants, and black dwarfs, also maybe in a future update there should be a 128x speed option and a 256x speed option, also maybe in another future update there should be an option where you can enable more galaxies, but not to much to crash the game. Also maybe add a option where you can edit the gravity of a planet or star, if the planet goes out the gravitational pull of the star, it will drift away. You can edit how close or how far the gravitational pull is. I hope one of the suggestions get featured in an update!

Very, VERY GOOD GAME! Some bugs Though..

The game is one of the best space games. its graphics is GREAT, Performance with IPads are good. (stars are Beautiful) And, It’s UI is very delectable! Good alternative to Universe Sandbox Mobile (if there’s ever going to be one XD) But sometimes, There are bugs. When you get an ad, It has a chance (25%) of crashing you from the game. You could avoid this by paying for the No-Ad pass. Sometimes, When you size an object Very, VERY large, it shows that it’s “NAN” temp. You could avoid this by not sizing planets to game breaking sizes. This game is one of the BEST GAMES EVER, And it’s very underrated. Would of been Five stars if there weren’t crashing, but the game is very good gameplay.

Bug fix please but over all great game

There is a slight bug in the game or unwanted feature in which you can only spawn things that are on the grid of the sun and when it snaps to that point it stays at that point you can’t escape it so that means you can’t place it near the black hole But over all great game colliding could do a bit of work like fragments and a fragment setting basically stealing from universe sandbox supernovas should be able to form neutron stars as well brown dwarf stars should have a burn out button to become black dwarfs but all is well good game

Good game

I changed my mind about this game. It is very good just has a few major bugs and issues. Like for 1, getting a moon to orbit a planet that is orbiting a star was so hard for me to do, because once you set the time stamp to 32 or 64x, the moon will just get launched from its orbit. Another bug is with the rings, whenever you make a planet have rings and then customize it, once you click on alter rings again, it just resets. I also have a suggestion like making higher detailed terrain when you land on a planet, more planet texture, more galaxy types, like elliptical and irregular, adding a gallery to see all the worlds you have saved instead of just 5 save slots, and in game space type of music. Apart from that the game is very fun, and it is a very good universe sandbox alternative for mobile.

Love this app!!

Hi! I love SolarSystemSim and have spent countless hours messing around with it. A couple suggestions to make it a little more realistic are 1. The atmospheres of planets look like they only cover the rims of the planet and not the entire planet. You can solve this by lowering the altitude to its lowest and make the density higher therefore covering the whole planet. 2. When you land on a planet it appears that you’re like 5,000 feet tall and it takes away from the realism of the game. 3. the x1024 is like 7x faster than real speed so it’d be great if there was a real time speed option. Overall really great game and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys astronomy :)

Hello devs

I think a really cool update would be more star variants, like a magnetar with an option to see the magnetic view in the options menu I would really appreciate it. I think it would add to the game, also can you add maybe a radio galaxy texture with to option to add a huge jet coming from the supermassive black hole…? (Also I know that radio galaxies are only visible to radio waves) another thing is I would really like to see a new sort of texture to the super novas changeable in the options tab… if any of these updates get added I will be a very happy person. Thank you for your time:)

Best Space Simulator on the App Store

I always wanted a Space Simulator on SolarSystemSim Store, and by far this is the best one. From simulating our real time Solar System, to creating your own solar system. You can create multiple different solar systems, save and load them back. You can really play in this sandbox. You can make planets larger, smaller, etc. You can bring multiple different large bodies to play, from black holes, to red giant stars. You can travel to other real life solar systems, planets, stars, and black holes. It quite literally surprised me with the amount of realism. 10/10

Amazing

This is honestly the best mobile game that I have experience in my life time, it may not have a lot a lot of planets but the destruction and the graphics are pretty good. I would recommend downloading this game if you love destruction and the graphics. I hope they will make thousand maybe even millions of dollars in there game. Even though it has good graphics it doesn’t lag! And you can speed up time and slow it down so much you can make it the same speed as the actual earth. And you can zoom out all the way out to the galaxy. You can also land on the planet, and you can make your own solar system! If I had to rate it 1 through 100 I would rate it 100. If I had to rate this game a rating of 0/5 then tell my family and friends bye.

Pretty good game (I have suggestions)

This is a very good game, I love the physics and it’s basically a mobile universe sandbox, some suggestions that I think would improve the game would to import custom ring textures, it would be cool because right now it’s just Saturn’s ring textures, and it would be amazing to import so we could have Uranus’s ring texture, Neptune, or even a dwarf planet that has rings, such as haumea. Another suggestion that would be cool is different cloud patterns. (Add 3 more cloud patterns) this would also be a cool addition as one of the cloud patterns could be Venus’s clouds or something. Other than that, this game is amazing and I can’t wait for its future updates.

Love this app but

I love the new update and everything but when I make an object smaller then 1km is shakes like crazy and can you add satellites and rovers I been playing for almost two years also when was this game made and I have a suggestion maybe you could make it able to classify objects to dwarf planets or moons and so on please I love this game so much hope you read this and consider it in the next update and last thing if a object hits a planet can you make sure it changes the axis of the planet love the work and add Astroid belts and Iregular shape

Incredible! But a couple suggestions.

This game is really well made, looks really good, and updates often. This game is really really good especially for it being free and being on mobile. The game is pretty well made but I would really like to see a terraform update maybe or a better asteroid system. Another thing I would like to see is a tutorial, I know there is one but I’d like to see a more immersive tutorial especially for custom astroids and planets because there isn’t a tutorial for the custom bodies.

Updated Review Nov 2024

This is still by far one of the best simulation games on the market. However there are a few minor adjustments that could be made. Have you guys thought of adding more cosmic events in regular gameplay , outside of the options on the main menu? The spaceship is also another underrated feature of the game, but the UI sort of lags a bit, once in spaceship mode and can kinda be confusing, still a great concept nonetheless. 5 stars as always, wonderful game.

update idea

Btw this is not from a bot I used ai to correct all my grammar.

First of all, to whoever designed this game: great job! I absolutely love it. The ads can be a little annoying, but I bought the no ads version, and it's definitely worth the money.

Now for my update idea: whenever you place a planet or star in orbit, it would be amazing if, when you click on the planet to edit it, a bar will appear at the top. This bar could display whether the orbit is stable or if it’s going to lose orbit. It could also show the year it’s expected to start losing its orbit.

& you can speed up time, & you could consider a 100x speed option, so you can see how things progress. Additionally faster, there could be a button on this bar that, when clicked, shows an orbit prediction on a small graph. If anything changes with the orbit, the graph would update to reflect that.

For the graph, different orbit paths could have distinct colors—for example, the orbit path of a planet might be a bright pink. And if you want to expand the orbit features, I have plenty of other ideas for that orbit button if it gets added!

I’m in love with this game.
Thanks for making it!

Great app for space!

I love this game! I usually use it for stellar experiments such as throwing a red dwarf at the solar system, or allowing the sun to go supernova, and more! Really easy to make star systems. It would be better however if you could make nebulae. I’m pretty sure you can make galaxies but it would probably take days if not weeks. And if I make earth go closer to the sun than mercury, water doesn’t evaporate. So please, just make it a little bit more realistic when it comes to temperature rises and falls.

Amazing game but a few things

Let’s start with the fact that it’s laggy. If you developers can at least fix this, it would be great. Second, how realistic it is, please make this more realistic because when I supernova the sun and it was swallowing earth, earth did not become hot and lose life. Finally, when I try to crash a planet with another one, it goes out of orbit and starts to just orbit the sun. But after all, this is one of the best games I ever played!

Features

In this app you can explore almost any moon or planet of our solar system and visit remarkable nearby stars and see their location in the Milky Way.

The simulation will then act as a gravity and physics sandbox and recalculate orbits in line with Newton's laws.

But you can also change existing bodies or add new ones and make a solar system of your own.
