4.2 out of 5
Potential to Increase Star Rating

I could see giving this app 5 stars except for one thing. this app provides a very smooth, nearly lag free, remote play experience between my Steam Deck or iPhone and my Xbox Series X. It even includes pretty good touch screen controls on the iPhone. In those respects, the experience is way superior to remote play through Microsoft’s Xbox app for iOS which can get pretty choppy.

Unfortunately, when my Xbox is in stand-by mode and the TV is off, this app will connect to my console, but only shows a black screen. I can hear UI clicks as I navigate around, but can’t see anything on my iPhone or Steam Deck until I turn everything on in my entertainment center including the TV. Once I do that, this app displays fine on my remote device, but that kind of defeats the purpose of remote play. In this regard, Microsoft’s app is superior because I don’t need to be home to use it. The MS app connects to and displays what’s on Xbox while in stand-by mode, whether or not the TV is on.

So I can use the MS app from anywhere, but can only use this app app if I’m at home and can turn the TV on. Still okay for sitting out on my porch and playing I guess, but only two stars for now unless I find out there is a fix.

It’s Good but not Great

XBPlay works good, the game runs really good except some glitches but not too bad and graphics are really nice. Just one thing that I would love about XBPlay is if they changed how the joysticks react. If I push on the joystick up and my finger is up half my phone so it’s not even on the joystick and when I move just a tiny bit I start moving backwards in the game even though my finger is not on the joystick. It’s a problem that could be annoying if I’m trying to shoot people in the game and it makes it harder to play first person shooter games. The joysticks are the main problem but everything else XBPlay is really good.

Bugs on community builds viewer & bug reporting feature.

There is a bug when trying to type anything inside the Community Builds tab. You can't write anything even when it comes to naming a saved community build. A bug reporting feature would also be appreciated.

Great App needs some work

XBPlay is like others said great on Steam Deck. When it runs on the iPad its nice and smooth but it will force close after about 20 mins or so and more frequently after. I’m Running on IPad Pro M2 so performance shouldn’t be an issue. But again when it works it works well. A dedicated Mac version would be cool.

Works well with the steam deck

Hassle free setup with the steam deck (the free options are nowhere near as straightforward). Of course the quality of streaming is dependent on your setup (my Xbox is hard wired to the router, and my router is wifi 6). With that said, I’ve had a lag free experience.

Worked for Mac

Pros:
- Worked for Mac with Browser support
- Many options to choose including video quality, filling mode etc
- Stable gaming experience

Cons:
- In mac the streaming used default browser, maybe an option for choosing which browser to use in app settings may be better
- There are many options in XBPlay , hopefully, author can give an official setting doc or video, so that we can take full advantage of it, specifically for 1080P gaming with lower latency for local remote gaming

All in all, worth the price for 5 dollars upgrade without ads and support the development.

Major lagging

XBPlay is amazing. I’ve been waiting for the day for me to be able to stream my games on my phone. But I’m streaming my Xbox one to my iPhone, and I have major lag even in 720fpc. I would like to know if there is a way to fix this. Other than that XBPlay is awesome. Hope to see more updates in the future.

Well, it works for remote play with audio stutter

It doesn't seem to work remotely like the Xbox app does, I have to use vpn into network to get it to work remotely, but that's not the end of the world.

The most important thing is that I don't get the audio stutter issue with it like I do on the official app, so that's really nice. It would also be nice if it would trigger game mode that’s available in ios 18+. That can improve performance in a lot of ways.

Nice quality!

The quality of this is top notch. I was able to play the game and there was seemingly no lag, admittedly, I didn’t load into an actual match but the fact that there was 0 delay in me moving the screen says something about the quality of this. Don’t let the reviews decieve you, try it for yourself before you judge it!

Works well on steam deck

Primarily got this to stream from my Xbox to steam deck. Works great and worth the $5 for ease of use and setup. I know there are free options out there, but this was set up in 5 minutes and no hassle.
I would recommend upping the trial time limit, as I barely got everything set up and a game running before it ended, but no complaints otherwise.

Great

I changed the review now. I see you guys updated it now there’s a few things I would request the ability to do AirPlay. I’m using my phone connected to HDMI and I would like to have it go fullscreen With the screen off would be totally awesome because with my phone it’s unlimited data

My apologies

XBPlay looked like a scam and I thought it was that but I made a fake account hooked it up to my old Xbox then started to connect it and it worked it is an amazing app that looks like a scam which it just needs new updates to the ui and some of the reviews do look fake but it’s something I will let slide

This app is insane running bo6 😮‍💨

Running bo6 like a dream , MWZ,BO3 then conmect Xbox controller via Bluetooth and it’s like having a mini Xbox in your phone I’m loving it and I definitely recommend not to
Mention a monthly subscription is only 3$ 😀 but they do give you a free trial for about 20 min to see that it is the real deal .

Great for Steam Deck

I use XBPlay exclusively for playing my Xbox series X on my Steemdeck. I have my Xbox set up in the game room and this allows me to play it in any room that I’m at. The Steemdeck controls work negatively without any issue, and as a little tip, the start and select crest simultaneously, and released rapidly acts as the Xbox button.

Great Quality and Zero Latency

Not sure why the negative reviews.

I tried app after using the original Xbox app for remote play.

The quality is excellent and there’s non-existent latency. It plays like you’d play at home… it’s actually really amazing.

FSR and FSS are a godsend

Fidelity super resolution consistently looks better than fidelity super sampling but it makes the games appear so much cleaner, on top of XBPlay having better streaming than remote play on the Xbox app. You can also change apps and come back and it won’t have disconnected you which is great for mobile, no idea why Microsoft hasn’t implemented similar features. Only 1 hour of streaming before having to pay but just paying the one time fee is worth it (about 8 USD)

Best one so far

I can’t believe XBPlay is sitting at a 2.9 rating should be higher in my opinion, recently bought a Xbox and love to use remote play, but using it on a iPad 720p wasn’t cutting it for me so I had to look for a solution, I purchased another app that costed me $15 thinking this has to be the best for that price sadly I wrong and had to request a refund, gave this one a try just because it was free and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint I do get the occasional studder but not as bad as others. Definitely recommend!

It’s stupid, but I like it

I like XBPlay and I like what they’re trying to do, but I can’t move anything like it’s just lagging. I’m just sitting there stuck and I can’t move my character at all in

Gets the job done

Not the prettiest interface, but the streaming works perfectly and the quality is way better than the official Microsoft app!

Works better than original Xbox app

Remote play my Xbox series x all the time and XBPlay has been my go to. Seems to be better graphic than the original Xbox app
