I use this app to trigger a webhook when my phone detects ibeacons either in my car or in my house, to improve the reliability of presence for my smart home hub. The signal strength of beacons fluctuates significantly, though, so your presence will fluctuate significantly as well even when you are near beacons. this app has a setting called time threshold that smooths out the presence detection over time, but it also delays triggering webhooks on both entrance and exit events. What’s needed is a time threshold dedicated for exit events and a separate time threshold dedicated for entrance events, so that quick triggering can still occur on entrance events by setting the entrance-time-threshold low, but smoother overall presence detection can occur by setting the exit-time-threshold high.

I initially tried this because my daughter was bothered by NY and NJ state tax inspectors, concerning proof on where she might have earned taxable income. I am not in that same situation, but it fills the task well enough to record of trips to supermarkets, malls, health clubs and a very nice vacation example of a two flight connection to Curaçao. So every so often I check how many times I actually went swimming or bought groceries. And this record might stimulate me into a better set of health care habits. And backwards,it also allows me to check on my calendar what else I have been doing.
Nothing is perfect but this gets near. I wish a somewhat better instruction set came with Geofency . It took me a while to gain familiarity with the setup.

I have just started using Geofency . Im retired and trying to decide how to implement and use into my life. It is very good at what it does by tracking your current location(s) and logging times of arrival/departures. A nice feature is ability to reach out to your home automation system and trigger events based upon your movement; ie 'turn on lights when arrive home' or turn up heat before arrival home'. This the primary thing that sparked my interest. Being retired I dont move around so much and looking for other possible uses. All in all, very good program for geo tracking, simple implementation, easy to use.

Update: I’ve been using Geofency for a few years now and it is only gotten better. The developer is currently making an effort to improve the application. It works flawlessly and as advertised and I am very happy with my purchase. It runs in the background using little power, keeping track of your whereabouts in throughout the day You don't even realize it is running becasue you don't have to launch it. I've had it running for over a year and it has kept details about most every place I visit. I use it mostly to track doctors appt.'s. I have this app remind me that I have arrived and not to forget to take notes and record a voice memo. It is a 10 star app in my book. Heck it could prove you were somewhere else when your Mother-in-law was egged and keep you out of jail. ;)

I've been truly impressed with Geofency and it's reliability - it just works. It helps me make sure I'm getting in my hours at work (or not working too long), see how much I'm getting out of the house, and track how much time I spend in the car. The iBeacon support for my car is especially cool... you never realize how much time you spend driving until you start taking it; it's motivated me to shift my work hours to optimize my commute. Very pleased!

As far as I know it will automatically mark you location on a map if you stay longer than 40 min. I have had Geofency for 3 or so years now and it is a great way to go back and see in Geofency the places I have been.

If I need to find a restaurant I went to last summer? I can just open the so and check for the markers. It Issy like a diary of places, all in one app.

I had downloaded Geofency yeaaaaaars ago and then had forgotten about it. I recently started to make some shortcuts to record my location on my calendar but fortunately I rediscovered this app! It saved me a ton of work, is more reliable and gives more useful information. I'm really happy to see that it is still being updated. Well done devs!

Been using Geofency since 2013 to track my Lawns that I maintain.. It automatically starts recording my time, when I pull up to my customer’s house and stops recording once I leave the property.. Companies spend hundreds to thousands of dollars a year on equipment that Geofency. can do for $1.99..
Every feature on Geofency. works perfectly..
I strongly recommend giving Geofency a try.. It is truly amazing.

Issue was with iOS and now fixed.

On iOS 15.1 iPhone 13 Pro Max, stopped working for me Oct 22. I did get it to trigger by leaving app open, but that is sort of a pain. Also triggers when location hasn't changed eg 5AM. Has anyone figured out how to get it working with a new phone and 15.1? Love Geofency and been using it for years but now its sort of useless. Keeping my fingers crossed

For anyone who likes to fidget/fuss with Maps and their GPS locations…you’ll love Geofency. My primary use is for a presence sensor with my smart home as it replaces the need to keep app location on all the time (some apps don’t like this FYI) and save a ton of battery life. Ive had it on for over 3 years continuously with no noticeable impact to battery life and increased functionality with smart home = highly highly recommended!

What's so darn cool as Geofency is so darn sophisticated yet SO simple to use. It's there just chugging away keeping track of everything ONLY when you need that really important info. I own my company but I still like to know how my LIFE BALANCE "really is. Offered this up to my "salaried" managers to just see how their balance is. Every manager I have wanted this tool. Great way to plainly see where your priorities are!

Please don't mess this up by adding 2 many bells and whistles!

It’s been great since I’ve been using it, I recently noticed in an area with poor mobile service, a large home I’ve been working at appeared to have missing data, although I realized the system thought I was at two different locations at times…I adjusted the radius on when I turned on monitored location. Is there a way to merge the previous history of two locations into one?

After much experimenting with different apps, this app is by far the best and most accurate. I use Geofency combined with Home Assistant to power my smart home so the lights turn on automatically when I arrive home, shut off when I leave, and more. If you are using beacons this is Geofency that handles them best and most reliably. I love all the detailed statistics it provides, the iCloud syncing and user interface is great, and developer is very responsive to suggestions and feedback. One of my very favorite apps!

Monitored locations still works, but after upgrading to a new iPhone Geofency refuses to update the significant locations. Re-installing didn't help either. May be an IOS 13 thing? And yes, the setting 'significant places' is on.
Update: did receive 2 responses from the developer - 2nd response fixed the issue:
1) Go to iOS Settings > this app > Location and change the setting from "Always" to "Never". In the view, go back one level for the setting to take effect, and then switch back to "Always“.
2) Go to iOS Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations. Deactivate and activate the switch there and then restart the device once.
Started working after that for me!

I’ve been using this app for about 12 years now. I needed an app to be able to automatically track when I got to work for documentation purposes - also to help me track how long it took me to get to work. I only needed that for a few months but left it on my phone and have used it sense. Being able to see when I leave the house or when I get to anywhere is so useful, and it even supports automations based on location. Such a powerful tool, I love it!

I’ve used Geofency for over a year. I track buildings where I work on a regular basis. While I try to track my location manually. Sometimes I just don’t do it. This is set and forget app. So at the end of the month I just look at it to properly assign my time to my locations. Great with no issues for the time I have used it. Addition to initial post. I would like to see a way to delete the previous month times. I teach time monthly then delete them. It takes some time as I track 10 locations. Still a great app.

Geofency is exactly what I needed and I couldn’t have asked for something more perfect. It’s simple to use. I’m self employees and I know I lose money on time tracking because I’ve never been very good at it. I do my billing at the end of the month and I would forget to mark times I was at a client or I know I was there longer than I can remover clearly so I lose money. This fixes all of that. I don’t have to do anything special. Totally automatic when I arrive, when I leave. Print the report at the end of the month and voila I have my billing! Wonderful wonderful wonderful!!

Geofency delivers as described! Crisp & clean. Well planned and executed. Below are additional thoughts to consider.

Goal: use app + iBeacons to measure the time I spend in each of 10 rooms (10ft x 12ft) & at 1 nursing station (in hallway) at my office. After researching, Geofency is best.

Problem: for reliable iBeacon signal (low enough error) across the distance of the room, the necessary power setting is high enough to produce a signal that can be regularly detected outside of the appropriate room and cause a false Clock-in event 😥.

Suggestions: (1) any existing work-arounds or suggestions anyone might have would be appreciated; (2) allow a user set signal strength threshold to define a true-positive clock-in event and exclude false events (signals less than this threshold are disregarded);(3) filter out the signals with higher frequency of errors (similar to #2, but a little diff); (4) allow user defined “ONLY 1 CLOCK-IN LOCATION AT A TIME” and only a better signal would cause a clock-out + clock-in event.

Thanks, and hope some of those changes can be made to help use Geofency to the best of its abilities.

I have been using this for 12 weeks to track my arrival and departure from work and I have not experienced a single inaccuracy. Being able to view day, week and months separately is excellent. An unexpected convenience is merging “events” together. In this example the “events” are my time at a location. Let’s say your phone dies while logging time at a location. Well, you can merge the two “events” together (before phone died and after phone turned back on) with a simple click. Suggestions for improvement include modification of the week start day (my company uses Saturday) and to a lesser extent the week numbers (my company week #1 occurs in February). Overall I am quite impressed with Geofency.

I’ve been using Geofency for many years and it continually improves. The only additional feature it needs for me is better isolation of nearby locations. The minimum monitoring radius is way too big compared to leaving everything automatic. I would use the Wi-Fi network and elevation as the way to isolate nearby addresses in towers or apartments.
