I’ve had this app for a couple of years now and have really loved it for most of that time, using it to tune my double bass accurately in noisy green rooms and loud orchestra rehearsals without issue.

However, it seems with each additional update to this app the tuner within Tunable has become more unreliable and prone to freeze / crash. At first, I would just have to close it and reopen Tunable and it would work fine afterwards. Now, frequently I’ll go to tune with Tunable and it won’t register that I’m playing any notes at all, or it registers at such a delay that I am unable to use it to tune at all, even if I am in a silent room... While it’s cool that this app has been adding new functions in the application, etc, I would rather that the tuner work.

At this point I’m deleting and looking for something else. Buy at your own risk

Every time I try to tune, it simply stays locked in whatever area I first opened Tunable up to. Instead of making tuning easier as I thought it would do, it's made it so much more difficult and frustrating then it needs to be. App is also extremely and very laggy, again causing much frustration and making it very difficult to work with. Starting to regret buying it.

Great app, but I really hate the audio pitches always setting to be in the C2 range or C6 range on the keyboard. I use Tunable almost daily for sight singing and commonly reference it for pitch check-ins. It’s annoying to have to “reset” the piano almost everytime I need to find a pitch in the typical C3 or C4 class. Please fix this and make it more manual, instead of trying to pick up my vocal range.

Love Tunable, use it all the time in my practice (I'm a professional flute player). Adjust precision of tuner based on level, drone tones, built in metronome, Tunable is worth well more than it costs! Just one issue I've noticed is that on my iPhone 5s sometimes, it doesn't recognize the built in mic(s). If I turn off input and then turn it on again, it usually recognizes the right mic and then it's fine. This hasn't happened on my iPad though.

Tunable is easy to navigate and is extremely helpful for most musical activities. Need a metronome? You can set it for anything between 1 bpm or 400 bpm, have 1-16 beats per measure, and it can subdivide all the way up to the 512th note (because you need that). You can also customize the tuner: tune vertically vs horizontally, change the concert A calibration, the instrument transposition, the alternate temperament, the temperament key, and change the theme (light or dark). You can also record a practice session, and Tunable will score you based on how often you were playing (or singing) in tune. It includes a tone generator. Anyways, a really great app and would definitely recommend for all instrument players.

Can’t recommend Tunable enough, being able to see a history of your pitch aids in making long tones more consistent and checking moving lines and intervals across multiple registers. It is also useful for teaching vibrato. A must have for all of my students and my own practice sessions!

Tunable is easy to read, easy to use. I tune handmade musical instruments and Tunable allows me to choose the frequency and intonation options I need. It's seems quite accurate and it is a necessity for my work.

I think the metronome is wonderful too, because it allows me to choose odd meters with divisions.

Nice app. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love Tunable which enables me to track tuning and vibrato as I play flute, record myself, have a metronome running with a variety of sounds and rhythms, and see personal practice scores for each session! I highly recommend this app!

The only problem is that the latest version has crashed twice in the last 10 minutes since I downloaded it, which is very surprising and unfortunate. I hope the developers will fix it soon.

UPDATE: A few days after posting this review, the developers contacted me personally, saying they’d fixed Tunable and it should be working. And indeed, it works perfectly now! Thank you this app!

I wish I could rate more than 5 stars! I have tried so many metronome apps and this app is by far the best. As a violinist what I was really looking for was the ability to set a drone to help my intonation. With this app you can BUILD CHORDS to tune to and even have a metronome going at the same time.

YOU NEED Tunable. I don't practice without it. Thank you, this app for making my practice sessions more productive♥️

I have used so many tuners from mechanical to apps over the past 10 years and this one has been my favorite. It comes with so many features and the tuning sensitivity is very accurate (microphone sensitivity can be adjusted too). I’ve had Tunable for two or three years now and the updates on Tunable keep making it more efficient to use.

I have tried so many tuner apps and this is the one I always use now. It has a super fast response and can really help you show how much pitch can change depending on how hard you play which allows you to tune to your playing style. It also has a brilliant interface with some very useful hidden features.

Tunable has been my go-to for a long time. I've tried other tuner apps, paid and free, but this one seems to reach that sweet spot for of ease of use and good design. It's a perfect companion for songwriters and pro musicians alike. It has all the tools you would expect in a good tuner, but on top of that there's features that can help you fine-tune (no pun intended) your instrument and playing skills.

Tunable was recommended to me by a bandmate (a professional violinist with a very developed ear). She said it was the only app tuner she trusted.

I am am audio engineer and I admit to being a bit picky myself. I also am picky about the apps I install on my phone, because many free apps mine your data and sell it to god knows who. (DON'T USE FREE APPS)

The UI on this app is perfect. It offers more than tuning- it's a complete practice app that lets you record and log your practices. The metronome is excellent and has a tap feature that I use constantly. I even use it during recording sessions to set the click tempo.

I really think every serious musician should download this. It will help you practice better, which will make you play better.

The flexibility the tuner section of those Tunable gives one is great, the ability to change the sensitivity allows Tunable to adjust to different playing levels. The tuner is full featured and customizable while maintaining simplicity. The link feature allows multiple people to sync metronomes while playing together. I recommend Tunable to anyone who needs a tuner or a metronome.

this app is great! I got it because it is what my music teacher uses. For my school play tests, this is the perfect tuner and metronome combo! I can also pitch perfectly with to an advanced level. I recommend this app to any musician or singer that needs to stay with a metronome and keep their pitch in line at the same time. U can even record yourself playing and tunables recording sessions can tell you how in tune u are! Luv you this app 🤪🤩

Tunable shows you just how many pitches your ukulele string is putting out when you hit it. No wonder tuning by ear hardly ever gives a good result. This multifaceted display shows you all the kinds of out of tune you are. Once you know you can get each string to show up close to the middle you can fool the listening ear into thinking the pitches are really in tune, when this sensitive app makes it clear that they are not!

Easy to use, great design, and does what I need it to: keep time! Can easily set tempo, time signatures, and subdivisions. I usually use a pedal tuner for tuning, but this app’s tuner has helped out in a pinch. I don’t really make use of the recording feature, but it’s nice to know it’s there if I want to quickly capture an idea. Tunable works well in Split View and Slide Over, so I can have notation and the metronome up at the same time. I have also found the developer to be very responsive in the rare instance I’ve needed assistance.

I enjoy using Tunable, and it is always on when I’m in the practice room. The metronome functions as it should and provides all the functions you would expect short of a Dr. Beat. The tuning app is nice as well, I especially like the recording feature which allows me to go back and listen to myself with the tuner right, so you can see and hear what you’re doing, and then and be able to analyze and see what’s what. Super nice feature!
Overall can’t recommend it enough, well worth the small investment.

this app is all around the best tuner/met/drone on Tunable Store. With other apps you have to pay monthly to get half of the quality of this app tuner/met/drone. The tuner can get as accurate as 2 cents and the tuner even tells you the hertz. The metronome shows each count clearly and it even has access to all sorts of subdivision. The drone is on point too. When I asked my Instructor which tuner to get this app was the first app he mentioned. In conclusion don’t waste your money on a membership and just get this app. Trust me throughout marching band this app was a savior.

I find the tuning display very informative. It includes a graph of pitch vs time and a visually useful and helpful indication of how close the current pitch is. I also appreciate the ability to adjust its pickiness for "in tune", and to transpose (e.g. for b flat clarinet).

The built in metronome is also very useful, flexible and well designed. It offers quick and easy tempo setting via a band of tempos near the bottom, tap to set tempo, adjustable beats per measure and subdivisions per beat. And, of course, it can be used in tuner mode (including stopping and starting it).

The only thing I miss is a spectrum display (like TonalEnergy).
