After many years I will be deleting this game

Update: uninstalled, no longer a halfbrick customer. Will not be paying for ad free, would rather not play at all

I purchased this game many years ago, at least 10 or more and always enjoyed playing. Then Halfbrick decided to abandon their game, took away the ability to join leagues and eventually to the point the game could no longer be played. Recently Half rick decided to relaunch this game, place ads in it & expect their customers to watch ads on a game they failed to make even one update on after taking away the ability to connect to a server and us be ok with it, even offering a special incentive for those of us who are long time ago purchasers thinking we'd be ok with it...I'm here to say I'm not ok with it, I do not care how long ago I purchased this game, I paid for it and am not paying twice or monthly dues I'm sure Halfbrick will charge. I delete games that constantly interrupt the little I play. Sorry Halfbrick I will not be paying again, nor will I put up with ads from a resurrected app with ads. I will be deleting & uninstalling FishOutOfWater . Halfbrick lost a customer with this lame, greedy idea and besides, so much time has lapsed since the game was an abandoned project so who gives a rat's fanny...lost interest long ago

Halfbrick now violating Apple policy regarding honesty - shame on Halfbrick and Apple

Read RECENT REVIEWS HERE - any stars are from old reviews of a fun little game. Most current reviewers are REMOVING all Halfbrick games because clearly they are no longer the same company. The best you can get, even if you purchased this game in the past, is ‘20 minutes free’ trial which is not honored. It is no longer the game it was. It was fun long ago, but requires a subscription now and they are not using honorable tactics-giving a 20-minute trial which stops every few minutes and only option is to hit the monthly subscription button which is not a 20-minute trial, it is a deception. Shame on you halfbrick. ATTENTION APPLE PLEASE REVIEW THIS GAME AS THEY ARE VIOLATING APPLE POLICY

I have to subscribe now?!

I’m actually really angry! I’ve been playing this game for over 10 years! I even had the game when it was glitched out and not on the Apple Store anymore, but because I bought it back in the day I could still play! it was saved to my apple account! And now, after years and years of playing it, it’s legitimately available, and was completely free for a few months (especially since I paid for it years ago) and NOW I can’t play it because I have to have a subscription to halfbrick!?!? Beyond disappointed!!

Would give zero stars if I could!

Amazing game but a scam subscription

I only want to play one game from my childhood and it is ruined by the greedy people who want me to pay annually for one game the game. is amazing but not worth the subscription frankly none of these game are worth the subscription. just make game with adds and ones you have to pay for like any other mobile game company. pls consider making a buy one game and not pay for other games the might not want just make them pay one or two bucks for a game with out adds. I waited for years fore this game to be rereleased looked on FishOutOfWater Store every other day and when it finally came out I was ecstatic to play the fond game from my childhood until a couple weeks after I downloaded it is became a payed subscription. Now these is not no triple a game by a big game studio it is a simple game that would help me relax when times were tough. Though this game is amazing I hope I can see a more affordable and hopefully free version in my lifetime.

Nope! Done with greedy Halfbrick.

I loved this game when it first came out years ago. I played it all the time. Then they pulled it from the AppStore for years. Now that it’s finally back, you can’t even play it without paying for a monthly subscription. I would even pay a one time fee to purchase this game, own it, and be able to play add free whenever I want. But one decent game is not worth paying for another subscription service with absolutely NOTHING else I want to play. I refuse to pay a monthly fee that costs almost the same as Apple Arcade for less than 1/10 the available game options. This is a way for Halfbrick to keep sucking you dry when there is only one game you want to play casually. Sadly, I’ll be deleting and moving on to playing games made by companies that consider the value you get for what they charge. Halfbrick, pretty sure you messed up big on this one. You have completely alienated longtime fans.

Deeply disappointed

I purchased FishOutOfWater many years ago and never really played it. I eventually had kids and they became old enough to enjoy it a while back. Today I booted it up for them and I’m being told I have 60 minutes to play and then have to pay for a subscription. This is completely unfair to me as someone who purchased the game under the previous model.

Furthermore, FishOutOfWater has added messaging features with an arrow pointing at a pop up advertising other games. FishOutOfWater experience has completely deteriorated to the point that it’s unrecognizable and I’m absolutely avoiding all Halfbrick products in the future.

Now it needs a subscription?

When I Was younger, (Between 5-8) I completely adored FishOutOfWater,I loved it,nothing could beat any other app on my kindle than fish out of water! But I forgot it when I was 8 and a quarter. And remembered it yesterday. But now,it suddenly need a Flipping subscription? I’m still a kid, knowing my and some other parents will say no if too expensive (which it is) now I just have to delete the game. Unless you have a Time Machine that goes from 2 months to it’s first release,or have rich parents or is rich, I would not recommend
Edit:Thanks Halfbrick, you guys actually read your reviews and reply positively! Maybe you’re not so bad after all

Subscriptions have ruined gaming, and I fear we will never go back.

I used to love this game, even after they had moved to branding themselves as Halfbrick Plus, this game was still free with no ads a couple years ago. I figured I’d redownload, only to find I only get 20 minutes of gameplay?? And I would have to subscribe to some new subscription?? I cannot possibly imagine this subscription model will be successful or sustainable. I get that you want money for the thing you made, but I miss when games were just games to be games. And there has got to be a better system than this, even if it’s a subscription that’s an add on rather than limiting access to the game, like Club Penguin. So few games are free without ads, and that’s something that is needed specifically for kids. Parents shouldn’t have to pay for ad-free games for their kids, especially not some subscription. So shame on you Halfbrick. You were one of the few companies I had held in high regard, but now it has been completely soured. Supercell is one of the few mobile game companies that actually have a decent model if you don’t factor in the in app purchases (which most games have anyways). Stay away folks.

Extremely disappointed

I’ve had this game downloaded for 7 years. Within this newest update, all of my progress has been deleted and somehow removed off Game Center. I had to play the game from scratch for 10 minutes before it even gave me the option to look for “settings” to try to load my progress. I don’t have a halfbrick log-in so that’s probably why everything of mine was deleted. Think of your users before you try to fix something that’s not broken. I want my old progress and unlocks, and I’m not restarting. You’ve completely crushed a previously happy and joyous player.

Free to install not free to play

I remember playing this game back when I was younger and I wanted my son to experience the joy of tossing cute little fishies across the ocean and getting high scores. The one thing I don’t remember is having to pay monthly they do give you 20 min to play for free with random reminders that sort of force you to close FishOutOfWater out. Which I guess is better than nothing. But It’s safe to say that after the 20 min of watching my son toss the fish into space the fun and nostalgia is over. I do hope that in the future this game does become free again because it truly is a masterpiece that everyone deserves to enjoy but for now I will have to say goodbye to this game again.

Great game but really disappointed

I used to play this game a lot and it’s exactly the way it used to be but with different animation and I love it. The only issue is it comes off as a free game but you’re only able to play it for 60 minutes a day for free and once you start, that 60 Min continues to run. After that, you have to pay five dollars monthly for a membership to continue playing that game I understand paying to get rid of ads or paying for FishOutOfWater in general or having even inside app purchases but a time limit and having to pay to be able to play it twice a day is really stupid to me.

Kind of boring at the end 😴

At first, going through the game is fun. But when you get to the end of the game, it makes you repeat levels 15 through the ending level over and over again. You wonder “why hasn’t anything changed?” But you never know why. Until you look in the picture book. It shows the pictures of those levels disappearing and appearing once you recomplete the levels. Personally, I deleted this game on my iPad. Overall, it’s a good game, but I was disappointed in that last part.

A game that I wish I could play

When I was younger, I remember playing this game so much so I don’t know why I ever would have had any thoughts to delete it. Every now and again I would remember this game but not the name. A couple days ago, I was scrolling on FishOutOfWater Store and I saw this game. I was so happy and I downloaded it immediately. I started playing and I was so happy and was flooded with nostalgia. Then suddenly, it interrupted me to ask me to pay to play. I don’t remember this game ever charging you just to play so maybe that’s why I ended up deleting it when I was younger. Since I’m not spending money on this game, I’m going to half to delete it. It was fun to play again and at least I got 20 minutes of nostalgia and play time but unfortunately that’s also all I will get. The game itself is 5 stars but due to being required to pay play, it really bumps it down.

Halfback does is it again

The all around the game is good. The crystal crafting is a factor not many games have made good. The costumes! Where to start... I love how you can trade in crystals for a new look; rather than real money. The unique abilities of each fish gives a game strong potential. Everything is mastered. What I would of liked is the ability of more animals in the water to challenge you, or at a certain level you unlock a new animal (octopus, shark, or something clever and unique)

Glad to see it back, but…

I’m very glad to see this game back on the Apple Store. Used to play it a lot when I was younger.

Although leading on that point, I never changed my accounts since then. So it’s rather annoying that the game itself does not remember all the achievements I’ve learnt. Since from what I can recall, I got them all.

I know it’s the same game as well since there’s reviews on it from seven years ago.

Beat the game!!! Wait....

I had finally unlocked every costume except for ninja Errol, and I was so happy. Then, my friend deleted all of them! I am ticked and I really am upset. This is the only game I like. I would really appreciate if you would add them back. It took me 1/2 a year to get them all. Then, my friend deleted all my time in 5 seconds. Please fix this for me. I really wish my friend hadn't done that, so he isn't my friend anymore. So, due to this game, I lost a friend. Please give me my characters back so I can forgive my friend. Thank you for your time.

It’s back!

It’s such a great game, but unfortunately it’s showing it’s age on new devices and visual bugs are popping up. I really wish HB would bring this game back! Such a fun one from them!

EDIT: It’s BACK! All the major bugs are fixed, and it’s been updated to work with halfbrick’s login system! I wish I didn’t lose all my old progress, but in all honesty I was expecting that to happen if it ever was to be updated, so I’m not too bothered by it.

Simple yet entertaining!

I played this game a lot when I was younger and coming back to it now, it didn’t disappoint! It’s a simple premise, yet it’s diverse and has countless possibilities! Not to mention, since it basically forces you to sign up at the start, there’s absolutely no ads all for free! I adore this game for it’s cute and simple artstyle and the lack of the developers trying to milk you for every penny you’ll offer up. There’s no in game store as far as I’ve seen and the game is simple enough for anyone to get into and enjoy! It’s entertaining but not to the point of addiction, so I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s interested! Have a good day/night!

Amazing And I LOVE It😍

This game is so much fun I love finding out how good my turn was! And the idea of giving you scores from little crabs is so different and cool. The only thing I would change is that when you are playing I don't like how if your hand slips some times the fish go to high and go up then go strait back into the water and touch the ground so then your turn is over and you get like one skip😢 ps sorry if there's any typos

My fav app

Oh my gosh I am so happy that this game was brought back to FishOutOfWater Store, this game was my entire childhood and I was so sad to see that when I checked back to find it years later, it was gone. I was able to play on my old iPad but there were a couple glitches here and there, so I am so excited to play this again and experience my favorite childhood app again
