Tricked me

I got the free version. I enjoyed the beginning puzzles and got through them in about an hour. For the first set, a 30-sec ad plays in order to unlock each puzzle. This is a quality app and the ads are shown at convenient times, so fine. After the ad for the first puzzle of the next set, there are three more ads (each 30 secs), which play immediately after the first and within three or four seconds of each other. During those seconds, the puzzle is available so the player has time to tap a few squares before the next ad appears. It feels like a glitch because three times the same ad interrupts what had previously been gameplay. I closed NonogramsCrossMe , restarted it, and was allowed to complete the puzzle (which took about a minute for those doing the math). Went to the next puzzle: four more ads in this manner.

Good first impression with the opening levels, but the sponsor delivery becomes disproportionate/obnoxious once you get into it a little more. You are asked to rate NonogramsCrossMe before this happens.

Thank you for reading!

Better on Kindle

I first got hooked on Cross Me on a Kindle Fire where NonogramsCrossMe is free - I am on the 7th level on my kindle and decided to sync to my new iPad. Unfortunately, while it did sync some of the puzzle data it didn't sync all of it and now the unsynced puzzles are "pay to play" either via watching ads or spending $5... guess I'll just stay with the Kindle version; considering how far my progress is on the Fire, it's not worth it to me to unlock the remaining puzzles just for the iPad. Am very disappointed that the developer chose to place an ad lock on every puzzle; watching one every five or so would be bearable but one per puzzle is nonsense - especially since I can just pick up my Fire and play without interruption. 5 stars to NonogramsCrossMe itself, 2 stars to developer revenue choices.

Update non user friendly and years of progress lost

I have played this game 5+ years as a decompressor. It’s absolutely disheartening to open NonogramsCrossMe , and see the 5 years of check marks of completion to be completely gone. Along with the new mechanics of no “pencil option” to mark off X areas and not allowing for the colors to be dragged over multiple vertical or horizontal lines has made me very frustrated while playing. I am debating deleting and finding a similar app, but I have been loyal and truly enjoyed the mechanics and the puzzles that have been provided over the years. I will most likely keep NonogramsCrossMe in my app library, but it’s lost its place on my main screen for now, especially if an update doesn’t come.

Awesome puzzles. But it gives you the answer

I love the interface and really everything about this game EXECPT that as far as I can tell there is no way to turn off the numbers in the rows/columns from automatically crossing out.

This means that if you have a row with the number “4” on the left indicating that there should be 4 squares filled in that row and you fill in 4 squares and that “4” isn’t crossed out? That’s wrong. If it is crossed out then it’s right.

The issue is that you can just keep guessing until the number crosses out and you know it’s right. There can be a row with “3” and “1” and a column with “10” on a 10x10 puzzle. If that is crossed out you know it’s definitely supposed to be the “1” and not the “3”.

Why no updates for so long?

This game was worth the money for the large, growing collection of puzzles. But there hasn't been an update since May. Why no new puzzles?
The interface for this game is the best of all similar nonogram puzzle games.
I wish that the randomly generated puzzles had large puzzles that also can have long rows and columns with solid color. The randomness setting tends to generate puzzles, even when very large, with 1's, 2’s,3’s,up to maybe 5’s, but not anything more than half of a long edge. I never see a 30x30 random puzzle with 18’s or 25’s, etc... they are solvable, but tedious. Almost all the random puzzles have about half the grid black, half clear, with lots of short segments. Some of them should have much more black, similar in density to the picture puzzles, but still random. Heck, just take some picture puzzles and randomly blend them.

Loophole and suggestion

Well put together app, but I’ve got two suggestions:
1. When you are filling in a row or column with multiple numbers, most notably 2’s and 3’s, it tells you exactly which of the series you filled. This makes the puzzles significantly easier, and allows you to eliminate many boxes that you would not have been able to eliminate using logic. For someone who plays this for the logic aspect of it, this fact kind of ruins some would-be challenging puzzles. Considering the options already available in the game, it doesn’t seem like this would be a difficult option to add.

2. It is too easy to overwrite X'd squares. They’re X’d for a reason. There should be some kind of way to keep you from filling in these boxes.

Difference between iPhone and iPad

Thanks for such a great game! I do have a question about a difference between the two platforms. On the iPhone to highlight a square (or string of squares) you are presented with a pencil shape. I like this for a few reasons. On the iPad I am presented with the original method, needing to highlight each square or string of squares. Both apps are the same version number. I looked at the settings and under Controls and the displays the iPhone version showing the pencil and the iPad version showing that old method. Any chance the iPad could have the pencil option? Thanks for reading this.

Bring back irregular puzzles please

First, this is a great game. I have been playing for about a decade now. I love this game because it’s fun and challenging, and the pictures are satisfying to make. However, a couple years ago, the developers removed all irregular puzzles in an update. “Irregular puzzles” referred to puzzles that were not strictly solvable by the normal solution logic method. However, I used a method that reliably solved most of these puzzles. And for those that didn’t work with, I enjoyed figuring out by trial and error and recognizing shapes. There was one puzzle I was stuck on for like six years and then finally realized what it was supposed to be, and I was so proud to complete the troll face puzzle. The developers had previously added an option to hide irregular puzzles, presumably because they bothered people who couldn’t figure them out, which was fine. But then the puzzles were just removed without warning, and all those puzzles I had spent time solving were lost. And I miss the extra challenge. After playing for so long, the game gets easier, and irregular puzzles are a welcome challenge. To the developers, if you don’t want to keep making irregular puzzles you don’t have to, but please at least bring the ones that have been removed back into NonogramsCrossMe .

Favorite Picross App

Very well done picross app. I appreciate the simple layout and intuitive controls, as well as the multitude of puzzles ranging from simple to complex. Highly recommend if you are a fan of picross puzzles!

Note to the devs concerning recent update:
I had been using an older version of NonogramsCrossMe for a while and updated recently and noticed that there had been a small but rather annoying change. When dragging a color, it now shows the total length of the entire color segment, as opposed to the length of the current segment you’re dragging. For example if there is a single orange pixel, and you tap and drag to add 3 more, it displays 4 instead of 3. While this may be a useful feature in some cases, in more complex puzzles it is rather annoying, as i often rely on it to display the length of pixels i am subtracting, which now doesn’t work and is inconvenient. I will still continue to use NonogramsCrossMe , but if it isn’t too much hassle, I would greatly appreciate it if this were an option that could be toggled in settings.

Great, but...

Been playing practically nonstop for weeks now, thoroughly enjoy, admittedly addicted, but very frustrated at times. I’m in the Shinobi level. I’ve had a few that I absolutely could not fill enough squares to complete the puzzle. I’ve searched for more complete instructions, tutorials, and am unable to find any. Some just seem impossible to do—unless I’m missing something. I’m currently stuck on 4.120, 25x30. Surely I’m not to guess! If there’s a tutorial out there, please direct me. Thank you for a great game! Really appreciate spending my $5 and having so many hours of fun!

Just about perfect

I love Nonograms and have tried many, many nonogram apps and can say that this one is definitely my favorite by far. No timers that stop me from playing unless I pay money. No other gimmicks. Just buy NonogramsCrossMe , and enjoy. I wish more apps were like this.

Also, the interface is simple, and doesn’t require tons of toggles like other ones do. Every so often, I download another one, just to see if it is any better, and they never are.

If you’re looking for a great time-killer puzzle app, this is the one for you. Simple, clean, affordable, awesome

What happened?

Update: in reading through other reviews I discovered you have to swipe the opening screen to switch between the regulars version and the color version. Phew! I thought I’d lost my favorite game. I still don’t understand how the color one works, but I got my regular back so I’m happy.

What happened? My app changed to color and all my solved puzzles and unlocked but not yet solved puzzles went away. The color puzzles don’t work the same way - I’m not sure when a blank is required between blocks and when it’s not. There is no explanation.

Delivered way more than expected

I have been using NonogramsCrossMe for years with multiple different devices and have been completely satisfied. If you get the free version and find yourself at all interested in what NonogramsCrossMe has to offer, you should DEFINITELY purchase the full version. There are literally hundreds (maybe over 1000?) of puzzles that will keep you busy for a LONG time. Nothing in NonogramsCrossMe is frustrating or buggy, and new puzzles are added in some of their updates, giving you even more bang for your buck.

TL;DR Buy the full version if you’re even remotely interested. You won’t regret it!

Beautiful game

I downloaded this in my freshman year of highschool, 6 years later, 4-5 new phones and many other nano gram games deleted, I always choose to come back and download this game to pass by some of my time.
This game has helped my anxiety so much, i got to completing too many, so I bought both the color and non color versions. WORTH THE MONEY! I spent so many hours playing this and completing so many puzzles!
I love how detailed the puzzles can get and how I can identify some of the characters or images! Absolutely beautifully crafted game!

Fan-tab-ulious! More updates!

I have played CrossMe on and off for years. Occasionally, I would even re-solve the puzzles again because it so much fun and and there were/are so many puzzles from which to choose.

The puzzles are so varied! From easy to difficult (but not so difficult that you can’t solve them). From Color to Black & White.

When the recent updates happened, I was very excited to finally have new puzzles to do. When I opened NonogramsCrossMe I worried that I was going to have to not only lose the puzzles I solved before but have to pay for them. However I discovered that if I used the “Sync” option in Settings everything was fixed. I appreciate that NonogramsCrossMe makers valued my loyalty.

I Highly Recommend NonogramsCrossMe even if you’re new to it. There are hours and hours and hours of fun and, in my opinion, it was/is worth paying for it!

(Just one thing, this is not for kids. In my opinion, it is tailored for adults and that is one of many reasons why I love it so much.)

Fantastic!

Every time I think I'm about to run out of puzzles, they add new ones. I read a review about how easy the puzzles are and how they don't look like much- the person who wrote that must not have done many of the puzzles. Some of them are easy, especially when you are learning.. Then they get harder and harder, and better and better. Not to mention bigger and bigger. There's 8 levels right now each with 200+ puzzles plus a random generator that never runs out. You can skip levels too. I've honestly been playing NonogramsCrossMe for years and will continue as long as they keep adding new puzzles every now and then.

vintage beauty, problems tho

UPDATE: The color version I bought is in a separate app. Had to scroll through several years of purchases, but found it, and restored COLOR purchases in THAT app. -----------------------------------There are artsy aspects of NonogramsCrossMe that I love such as vintage feel, and beautiful design and font. ***COMPLAINTS - .....Some controls are indecipherable for me. I'm not psychic. I have no idea what a couple of the controls do. Is not explaining things supposed to be cool? .....The crossed out line on clues that have been crossed out is too thick and dark. Can't easily tell what the original clue was so as to correct mistakes. Need thinner crossout line, and possible graying of clue. .....Need better navigation (à la Conceptis), especially in large puzzles.

Endless puzzles, excellent controls

I've been using NonogramsCrossMe for years, even since before they merged the normal and color versions! I tested out a bunch of different picross apps before I bought this one, and it was by far the best.

As you complete the puzzle, the numbers are crossed off smartly -- they don't accidentally give away hints like a lot of other apps. The controls are very versatile, and they have a lot of control options, so you can pick the control style you like. There's no timer and you can disable hints. It even displays your phone's time and battery.

There are randomized puzzles if you run out of the normal ones, but honestly there are so many puzzles that I still haven't made it to the end. (Even when I was sick and played this for a few days on end, I hardly made a dent!)

I also appreciate that you can play for free and permanently unlock everything for just a few bucks. When they merged the normal and color apps, they even transferred over my purchases from there with no issues.

My only complaint is that some of the settings in the options menu are confusing, but I've only looked at the options menu twice in the past decade, so it's really not an issue.

Well made game

I enjoy this game a lot. Most of the games I play have too many advertisements and not worth the wait. The advertising is short and sweet and the puzzles are great. The time it takes for a puzzle and the enjoyment of creating something helps get you through the advertising. I LOVE the color version but the other type is good too. Most of these types of games you have no clue what they are when you’re done. Drives me bonkers. At the end of each puzzle you know what you’ve created. The artist/s who designed them did a great job. I also like the option of buying puzzles. I haven’t yet but for those who have the money it works well. Also the design setup of the game is well thought out. Everything flows well. Ps: Would have rated it 4 star for the smart review readers who look at mid range for most honest reviews but this game deserved the 5 star rating.

This game is a must have on all my devices

Best 5$ I ever spent (or 10$ for both games)and you don’t have to pay it to try it out, but I’m sure you will because it’s the best one out there. I have been playing this game for over 10 years. This is the best nonograms game no need for any others after you download this one. They are always adding new puzzles and adding things to improve the game. ( like the hints. That wasn’t an option when I first stared playing.) I love that they put CrossMe and CrossMe color in one app.
