    Missing important feature

    The app would be a great way to manage receipts, but there is one missing feature. In order to snap a picture of a receipt in the app the transaction you are trying to post the receipt to has to be already posted. Which takes time. There is no way for example to go to gas station, pump gas, snap a picture of a receipt and be able to match it later with a transaction once it posts on your account. You have to either save the receipt or take a picture with your camera to upload later. That makes it cumbersome and it’s easy to lose the receipt or or forget to upload... hope the developers can add that feature one day, it would improve the functionality a lot!

    App will delete your receipts

    I am extremely disappointed by my American Express platinum business experience. I opened my account at the end of June primarily for the spend tracker receipt uploading capability for my employees. It worked great for a week then the app began deleting receipts. I called 2 times about the issue and received lip service that the technical support rep would personally follow up in 24-48 hours. This didn’t happen in either case. Called a third time and was told that because of quickbooks ( I don’t even use quickbooks btw, I use xero) that they realized maintenance would be needed and they are working on a patch. The issue won’t be resolved for 4-8 weeks. If you are shopping for a card that will easily manage employee receipts then keep looking!

    Amazing app

    It’s missing one star because there seems to be some functionality mismatch between the mobile app and the website. E.G., ‘tags’ that you enter in the mobile app can’t be used online because the tags in the app support hyphens / special characters but the website can’t and gives an error. (Whatever I create in the app should be supported in the website companion. Just makes sense. Also: the website companion isn’t nearly as intuitive as the mobile app. I’ll update this review as I notice changes in the discrepancies.)

    Great app , my 4 year old loves doing expenses.

    I can’t tell you how great it is knowing this app is appropriate for my 4 year old. Way too often he wants to spend time and money on toys and movies but now he can expense and track those purchases instead. The thrill of categorizing his Batman juice as entertainment or food is always exciting. I’m deducting a point because the app lacks the ability for mileage reimbursement. He never wants to go anywhere on his own because he says it’s too difficult to factor in the wear and tear on his big wheel.

    Response to prior review

    If you go into your pending transactions you should see your transaction immediately and will then be able to tag your receipt on the spot. If you go to a gas station it may show up as a pending $1 charge (which will update to full amount once posted) but as long as it shows the same date and name of gas station you can pretty much assume that is the transaction you need to tag.

    Needs work!!

    1. The camera does not always work to take a picture of the receipt. 2. Limited to only one page for the attachments. 3. Can only include also 15 charge items per report with receipts. This often results in multiple reports for individuals. For these reasons we are looking to discontinue our card services. We have been with Amex for a long time and as our company changes many staff are mobile. This app does not give us the flexibility needed. There are also many limitations on the site as well. Reporting is huge and this site just lacks that.

    Doesn't keep receipts while transaction is pending

    I love the app everything is great especially when I want to look up a certain transaction it makes it very easy .. however when you take a picture of a receipt that has a pending transaction it erases after the transaction has officially posted. So I learned after a couple times to save those receipts until the transaction has posted.. which is not convenient for me.

    Great Idea. Execution Needs Improvement

    + Match receipts on the go without needing to keep paper copy or take photo in camera roll + Create tag rules on the website to automatically tag transactions - Pictures captured while transaction is pending are erased upon the transaction posting - Can only print 15 receipts at a time when creating expense reports and have to manually click each receipt to add it Erasing the image of a pending receipt when the transaction posts successfully is a big problem. The reason I use this app is so I don’t have to worry about holding onto paper receipts or cluttering my camera roll. I normally take a picture right after I perform the transaction, which is typically when a transaction is pending. Having the image of the receipt erase after the transaction officially posts defeats the purpose of the app.

    A waste of time.

    Moved my whole company to capturing receipt. No sooner I did that the app stopped working. Eight out of ten times it gives you an error and tells you to try again. No matter how many times you try it doesn’t work. You’re forced to put aside the receipt and try hours or days later. Captured pending receipt are erased when the transaction is finalized. The only way you can capture restaurant receipt is to save them and wait until they are finalized. What’s worse that they’ve not resolved the issues despite several updates. Leaves you wondering if they really care.

    Absolutely Love the App

    This app helps me to snap a picture of a receipt and never loose any! It makes it possible for my secretary to file reports and have the receipts in hand even if I am out of the office or even the country. Very helpful and user friendly. Would recommend to anyone who has a business or works for a business where receipts must be accounted for.

    Easy to use

    I just started to use the Spend Manager app for my work expense reports. I need to save receipts when I travel and I often lose some receipts especially if I travel for a few days. This app save you the hassle. Take a photo of the receipt and tag it to corresponding expense line directly in the app. Then you can print out a detailed exp report when back in the office. Very intuitive and easy to use!

    Uploading pictures or images as receipts is very poor at best

    I manage approximately 25 users of this app and when a receipt is in pending mode trying to upload a receipt is nearly impossible. The development in this area needs to be vastly improved as this hinders most users from timely uploading their receipts and ends up taking them much more time to accomplish the upload at a later time. I have a receipt that’s not even in pending status and I still can’t upload an image for some reason... this has been ongoing for some time and is very frustrating.

    Great App

    I read an earlier review that stated you couldn’t snap a picture in the app if the transaction wasn’t posted. This is not true, you can still take a picture and it will remain unmatched until the transaction posts. It’s a great app and I’m using it to train my entire company. I like it a lot. It would be great if you could attach the receipt though to the pending transaction.

    Losing Receipts

    I’ve had multiple occurrences of snapping a pic live after a transaction posts & it saving but then getting deleted later. It has happened with several types of transactions - restaurants, toll roads, parking receipts, etc. I don’t want to keep paper receipts or have space taken up on my phone with receipt pics - that’s the beauty of the app that you CAN take pics directly into to. Now, please just keep them all saved!!!

    Please fix touch I.D issue

    Great app for uploading receipts but after a touch I.D login, if one goes out of the app and the app timesout when you go back into the app it makes you log back in and doesn’t bring up the touch I.D login option for a quick login. No one that has touch I.D wants to have to type in their actual login info and so please fix this issue so that touch I.D works no matter when you open the app.
