WABE Public Broadcasting Reviews

I am a sustaining member and listen to WABEPublicBroadcasting every morning. It is so inconsistent. It get stuck in loops and repeats itself over and over. Ads start playing mid story. It completely stops playing mid story. It has issues almost every day. Today it is not working at all. It is stopping mid story then comes back on 2 min later, plays for 30 seconds then stops again. Please work on fixing these bugs!!!

Like other listeners, i experienced the problem where I get the audio feed for a minute and then it stops. I have to then restart the audio by pressing the play button. And then it only plays for a minute and stops.. This is very frustrating. I deleted WABEPublicBroadcasting , and re-loaded it yesterday. We will see if this helps. I have three bars of Wi-Fi signal throughout my home, so the Internet connection does not appear to be the issue. It would be helpful if either WABE or the F publisher would offer tech-support. But it appears that they do not do so. Frustrated in Atlanta. Rick.

I am very disappointed. Every few minutes programs are over run with ads. Today the most dominant relates to the High Museum. I thought the public fund raisers protected us from advertisements. One or two between segments would be acceptable. But the same ad interrupting programs every three minutes is a problem. WABEPublicBroadcasting also will just “hang” every 15 minutes or so. To correct it is delete and reinstalled. Enough to drive an avid listener nuts.

WABEPublicBroadcasting is incredibly unstable. It crashes frequently and often gets into a loop of playing the exact same commercials over and over when opening WABEPublicBroadcasting . You have to close it and restart, sometimes more than once. Another glitch is that the rewind functionality displays but never works any more. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Sorry, WABE, still a big fan of the station, just not WABEPublicBroadcasting !

App worked fine for years (although the periodic, random sponsor announcements are annoying). Now, you have to reload repeatedly (and sometimes it doesn’t work) to get it to stream. Also the sponsor announcements usually come 3 in a row. Same announcement. Occasionally, I’ll delete WABEPublicBroadcasting and download from App Store, that doesn’t always work either. Incredibly frustrating. Not that it should matter, but I’m a sustaining member.

As has been said by others, the random interruptions to acknowledge funding sponsors (yah, basically commercials) which cuts out parts of stories is incredibly irritating. To be honest, it gets me angry at the sponsors even though it’s not their fault, and makes me LESS likely to use their services. But, alas, I find myself going to other NPR apps that don’t interrupt my stories. Also have changed my annual giving to share my donations w other NPR stations that I now listen to.

Public radio came in existence as a result of commercial domination. Your ap is now having commercial creeping. In the middle of a fascinating story you interrupt it with a commercial and I loose what was being said. I am a sustaining member and have called several times, left message and no one calls me back, bad form!

The last week or so the live audio stops after it’s been playing for a minute or so and it really struggles to recover. I’ll have to press play again, and even then there’s only 10-20 seconds of content that loops before it stops again.
This happens over and over and is leading me to leave WABEPublicBroadcasting all together and find something else to listen to. Please fix!

Commercials are to be expected; you will get one every time you open WABEPublicBroadcasting .

My bigger annoyance is that if I want to do anything with my iPad besides listen to WABE, I can't. In practical terms, this is problematic. If I'm listening in my kitchen, and then need to use my iPad to look up a recipe...WABEPublicBroadcasting cuts out. Fooey!

I am thankful the WABE app lets me access the ORIGINAL format, classical music, for WABE...instead of the new mostly talk format. The new format is sadly repetitive - as someone who spends many hours each day listening, it's annoying to hear a feature story for the fourth or fifth time, when the classical music format changed and didn't replay the same stuff over and over.

As a listener with a "blue toothless" vehicle, the format change away from classical music, to talk, has seriously decreased my membership enjoyment of the station. Most folks with newer cars, can just use their cell phone....but I'm one of the dinosaurs listening mostly by the radio. Only within the last month, have I gotten a phone that's supposed to be able to "talk" to my vehicle - but with no Bluetooth, that's no help.

Love listening to WABE! Frustrating that app frequently cuts out on my phone and always on my laptop. Had to quit listening on my computer because it would only last for a few minutes! Also disappointed that you no longer offer 3 different Chanel's to chose from.

I am an avid listener and overall I like WABEPublicBroadcasting. The issues around crashing have largely been fixed but the commercial interruptions are randomly placed and often come right in the middle of a story. So you lose whatever is being said in the ~1 minute of ads. Very frustrating.

I listen to WABE every day, multiple times a day. I love the core station. I don’t seem to have access to the two. Other stations through WABEPublicBroadcasting . I need to access through an other app

I find the wabe app to be an excellent addition to my IPhone. With all of its features, it allows me to catch up on weekly news and events that otherwise I would have missed, since I'm busy during the week days.

Just got WABEPublicBroadcasting and it’s perfect. As a long time listener of WABE, I am really loving the quick access to live stream radio anytime. All the NPR pods are right there. The interface is really straight forward. I’ve learned a lot about everything WABE has to offer that I didn’t know about. Buried Truth’s and several other really good podcasts.

I love being able to take WABE live radio with me everywhere. My only fm radio is in the car and now I have the freedom to listen anywhere!

Mornings with coffee and WAPE. My morning is not the same without listening to and being ready to talk intelligently about what has happened in our state, the country and the world.

In addition into listening to current live stream programming when the radio waves are otherwise not available to me, it is also good for catching up on other news and events

Some of rare news sources not in business of just making money. Hope they keep it up! A++++

I may be biased as someone who writes for the website, but WABEPublicBroadcasting is an easy way for me to read off of my the web and listen to my favorite shows like Closer Look.

It all adds up to a 5-Star app in my book.

I use the WABE app all day long and across multiple devices. When I travel, which I do frequently, I always tune in using the WABE app rather than fuss with other languages cal let stewing options. Creature of habit! It is reliable, easy to launch, and maintains a persistent connection. Thank you for enabling me to bring WABE everywhere I go.

I mostly use it for steaming and it works well including being able to use my phone while running it. The sound is good and over the past year the bugs have been worked out well. Now you just need to make it easy to donate through WABEPublicBroadcasting .

I’m really happy with the most recent upgrades — it’s easier to find relevant content and happenings around the city. WABE has so much to offer — I can not do without 90.1 and WABEPublicBroadcasting is how so listen nowadays.
