Poor design

I got TimeHut in hopes of tracking our pregnancy and baby through the first few years. I like the features and ability to leave letters for my child to read in the future.

Since using TimeHut I’ve discovered many flaws. I’ve contacted the company only to be told this is normal behavior for TimeHut .

1. I can only add one grandma and grandpa. Last I checked, all kids have two grandmas and grandpas. While I can add anyone I want as a friend, this could cause hard feelings between families because it looks like your playing favorites. Overall a poor design.

2. Once a letter has been left for your child, you can’t review it until the opening date. You cannot read letters left by other family and friends to ensure the letter is safe for your child. If I wanted to stop using TimeHut , there’s no way to retrieve the letters I’ve written. As the admin and parent, I feel I should be able to read/review any of the content left by others.

Considering the cost of TimeHut , and the poorly implemented features, it would be better and easier to just use a service such as Facebook.

HORRIBLE LYING APP THAT DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR PICTURES!!! DO NOT GET!!!

I have been using for 4 years and told everyone to get TimeHut when it first came out. It had all sorts of back up features like a web page back up and batch download of all pics. Suddenly, I have now run out of storage (which was never limited before) and they want to charge me $30 a year for each kid, when I already paid for TimeHut . I have plenty of free storage elsewhere and better paid storage but this developer is completely unethical. All of my work for four years on two kids is lost unless I take off of work and manually download each picture. Now, I have the pictures THAT I TOOK backed up elsewhere, however, any picture that someone else sent me (family and friends) I may have uploaded here instead of putting on my camera roll. All my notes about their height and weight, all major milestones, I can’t even copy and paste - I have to take a screen shot. Bad Karma to these people for screwing over busy mothers who don’t have days to redo the work they already did and trusted these people to be honest about. DON’T GET TimeHut!!! IT IS A SCAM!!!!

USED TO BE Excellent!!

**EDITED**
I’ve used TimeHut since it was called Time Hut years ago. Over the last few years, free features have been consistently and aggressively limited in order to provide those features to paid service members, rather than rolling out newer, better features for paid service. Also, they took away the batch backup option (to create a zipped backup file emailed to you) and at some point they started compressing uploaded photos to incredibly small sizes so at this point they are hardly print-worthy anymore. I used to love TimeHut, but I’d rather use a service like google photos that provides most of the features of TimeHut, unlimited photo storage (FREE) at barely compressed ratios that are still very much print-worthy, auto-backup, etc. Goodbye Peek-A-Boo.

My only wish is that they would let you make basic edits (crop, straighten, exposure, saturation) before you upload and also make a photo book feature that gives you more control over arranging and cropping before sending to print. Otherwise, TimeHut is amazing for collective storing and sharing of photos/videos!

Don’t use this app!!

I started using TimeHut 3.5 years ago when I adopted my last baby. I have saved and journaled every picture of her from 6 Months and 22 days before she arrived and when my storage was exhausted, I purchased the VIP for $30. Now, the price has gone up again and I am expected to pay or literally loose my photos which is ridiculous. Honestly, there are many more apps that are free... Instagram, Facebook, google photos... all with unlimited storage. Don’t fool with an app or a company that refuses to answer when there is a problem and continues to joke up the price every year. Bad app!!

False advertisement

I’ve been using TimeHut for 3 years to store photos of my daughter. It has worked well for that purpose. Just found out that they have removed the function of one button to download all photos. Your only option to backup your photos is to click through each image and save them. I found it extremely shady, since TimeHut always has pop up notifications that asks you to clear all the uploaded image off your phone. You are essentially locked in using their app if you are using TimeHut to back up your baby photos. I do not plan to use TimeHut anymore .

Cannot Back Up!

I am a dad of 3 (three!) of their so called “VIP” babies. Paid $90 every year for many years. I recently tried to back up photos to my local storage and it can only be done one by one in each of the “day” album. There are probably more than 9 years (3 kids total) worth of photos / videos to be backed up. The developer expects me to go through ~365 days X 9 years ONE-BY-ONE to back up? This is ridiculous.

I contacted their support and got a useless reply “Hi, we're sorry it’s not supported to back up all of the photos by just one click now. You can select and back up photos day by day, thanks for your support.”

USED to love this app

Note: I’m a VIP user so I’ve paid for the premium service.

I used to love TimeHut but it seem with every new major release they take away more and more functionality making it so much LESS useful now.

It’s still a great way to store and track photos and videos, but here’s a list of annoying things that didn’t used to be annoying:
- you can’t bulk download and backup anymore. You have to do it by individual day, which is quite a pain and MANY clicks and time
- you can’t add anyone as a buddy or family who does not have a Facebook account or use Facebook messenger. You used to be able to invite people by email address.
- even if they have Facebook messenger, the invitation doesn’t work. It’s sends a broken attachment so there’s no way to add new family members or fans
- for the renewal of the VIP service, they start sending you reminders that your vip service will run out over a month before the end date. However, when you go in to renew, it renews and extends the service for one year from the DATE OF RENEWAL, which basically means that if you renew right when you start getting the notices, you lose out on over a month of service.

CONSTANT GLITCHES

I’ve had TimeHut for a year, and it has really slipped in quality since I started using it. On the plus size, it is user friendly and well laid out. That is the only ice thing to say. The negatives far outweigh the positives.
Uploading pictures and videos to TimeHut used to be no problem. Now, it is an exercise in patience like no other. It literally takes days to upload videos. If you try to upload multiple videos and/or pictures, you will wait and wait while a progress circle hovers at 20% indefinitely. Then you get a series of error messages over and over that include things like “request timed out,” or “unable to connect to server.” This will go on for days and you have to keep TimeHut open as much as possible because you can only upload if it’s open. I currently have three videos in my upload queue that I tried to upload three days ago. It’s infuriating.
You also cannot invite anyone to join and view your photos unless you use Facebook, which I don’t. When I first started using TimeHut, you could invite via text or email, but they changed it to only allow invitations through Facebook. Again, infuriating.
Finally, beware that if you join and start putting up pictures, you will eventually be required to pay $30 PER YEAR to continue using TimeHut. In my opinion, this is highway robbery and a pretty shameless bait and switch. The service isn’t remotely worth the cost, not to mention how smarmy is.
Very frustrating and expensive app.

Please fix upload

I have been using TimeHut for more than three years now with VIP now. I have really enjoyed TimeHut , it makes sharing pictures and videos easy among family members. But recently it’s been so glitchy. I can hardly upload videos, it usually takes several tries before a video is uploaded. It has many new features now, but being able to upload photos and videos is the core of TimeHut. At this quality, it is not worth paying for.

PS: when I renewed my VIP status, it renewed my account from the date that I purchased the VIP instead of my previous expiration date, so I lost a couple weeks of membership.

Great so for but missing helpful clues to go back to where you where

It asked me to record my babies first downs and everything and then it went away because I didn’t have time to finish it at the moment and there’s nothing to get back to it there’s no way you’re only see video if I just want to see all his videos the company has really really really got to work on that seriously and I’m really hoping that again it does like it’s been doing from one month to 12 months and then after that it goes from saying that to one year and a month And so on and so forth then I would rated five stars but I feel like a favorite list and it doesn’t allow me to find anything that I post in it without flipping through the whole thing

Chinese App - demands access to all photos

I’ve been using TimeHut and paying for a yearly subscription for the last 10 years. I don’t mind them increasing the cost of subscription, but I am concerned about the direction of TimeHut and where it’s going. Not only is there no built-in function for users to be able to download all of their data and pictures at once, but TimeHut demands that it is granted access to all photos in order for pictures to be uploaded. This is unlike other apps like Facebook, which allow users to select which photos TimeHut has access to. Right now I cannot cancel my membership without downloading 10 years of Photos one by one and I’m continuing to pay annual subscription fees for fear of losing my photos. I feel trapped by TimeHut and wish I never signed up or encouraged my friends to sign up.

This app has so many glitches

First off, I loved the format of TimeHut. But, if you have family that do not use Facebook, you cannot invite them to use it or view photos. This is a HUGE letdown for me. I just had my second child and I can’t add my husbands family to view because of that. They can see my first sons images, but for some reason TimeHut makers made that terrible choice to limit viewers.

I also do not understand Japanese, and there are so many Japanese symbols all over the place! I understand the creators may be, but TimeHut should be universal.

This app is trash other than the idea

The only reason I use TimeHut is that the idea is nice to organize the timeline Other than that it’s all around trash Uploading constantly failing, 9/10 times I need to re upload over and over, let alone the uploading latency The flow to invite friend is the worst experience. Wechat invite is super hard to use already and message invite somehow managed to be even worse than wechat invite. Can this company hire some real dev and product team????

Great concept; poor execution

I enjoy sharing photos privately and I like the timeline setup. You absolutely need to allow me to invite family/friends with a link over email or text - only being able to use Facebook is ridiculous. Especially when I haven’t even announced my pregnancy yet! And I have family who don’t have Facebook accounts.

I also foresee some clunkiness when we have multiple babies, and you can’t tag multiple babies’ profiles in one photo.

Great App for parents who don’t want to share on social media!

This a great alternative to posting pictures on social media and still allows the option to share with close friends and family. There are some glitches, like photos not loading sometimes, but give it a few hours and it’s back to working. Sunday evenings for a few hours (Eastern time) between like 6-8pm the servers tend to be down regularly, and there are no notifications to tell the user that it’s going to happen, but otherwise, nothing really bad to say about TimeHut . We tend to use it as a “digital scrapbook” for later reference.

Great App

Weve been using TimeHut for nearly 7 years now and love the way its setup. Everything works, is easy to upload, and track. One thing that does bother me is that I dont see a way to pull photos down in bulk incase the platform goes under or we experience a life change which forces us to cut back.(hasn’t happened, but the risk of losing years of photos is present in those cases)

Peekabu should rely on its product quality which is great as opposed to trapping people in the ecosystem.(note: if there is a way to bulk export, then ill revise this)

Still giving a solid 5 stars though as again, TimeHut is great aside from one element.

Super user friendly kids photo diary

TimeHut is easy to use and really a great tool for kids diary. The system automatically sorts photos by the date and are arrange by the kid’s ages. You can create all type of “tags” and sort your photos. Later on you can easily find photos with the tags. Such as tag all “dance” related photos and when you search for “dance” all photos will show up.

uploading takes forever

We used TimeHut for 2 years for 2 kids. Each year is $30 for a kid. Yes, you end up paying $60 per year. We used to love TimeHut but I found it is longer to open a video or upload a new clip. Not mentioning we had to pay the fee individually, also the uploading and downloading for video take forever.

A must have! Get before your baby is born will not regret!

I have had TimeHut since my son was born it is the best way to keep a digital scrapbook of photos, videos, letters, & diary entries. I love that you can write letters to your child on their graduation day, wedding day, & so forth. Very cheap don’t be scared to spend a dollar you will not regret it.

It’s worth it to get the Primo membership

This is our first baby and let me tell you we take some pictures!! Lol we ran out of space very quickly. The price is like 35 a year!!!!! And iCloud and google are more $$$ so for unlimited cloud storage totally worth it . Also I love some of the features like writing a time sealed message only she can open . All and all I would highly recommend TimeHut to any new parents to cherish there little one 👍👍👍👍👍👌🤗
