Great mag, poor reviewers?

I really wish the reviewers would take the time to actually review YogaJournal . I found the magazine to be very informative and quite a few fun features (videos and audio tracks) to boot.

I understand people in this country have a horrible problem with feeling entitled to things, especially freebies, but it does make me a little sad to see it so prevalent in a community that I thought was supposed to be supporting opposite values.

Anyway, if you really wanted to know about YogaJournal , I would highly recommend it. Plus, if you purchase this in lieu of a print subscription, you get to save a tree and help the environment :)

Excellent articles

I have been practicing for some time and this source is extremely helpful with details to prevent injury, evidence based studies on benefits of yoga for therapeutic reasons and consistently informative articles.

It is a great reference and I continually learn and am able to refine my practice and teaching through the use of it. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in yoga.

The app crashes or won't start without wifi available

YogaJournal works great when there is a wifi connection but won't open or stay running to access already downloaded content without an active wifi connection on the device. I can see that being the case trying to access content or the YJ store without a wifi connection, but other apps that allow downloading of content run in offline mode and continue running without an active wifi connection.

This needs to be fixed and updated ASAP.

I would give it 5 stars for usability, quality of content and presentation, but with this design oversight it gets 3 stars until YJ fixes it. It's a software defect that needs addressing.

Pay Twice, Not Nice!

I checked YogaJournal store everyday since you announced the e-version would launch with the September issue. I subscribe to a magazine from another publisher that also announced a September e-arrival. I was so pleased to see both of you in YogaJournal store. However, I installed their magazine, but not yours.

They appreciated their loyal followers and did not charge subscribers. If they follow suit with some of their other publications they may end up offering me a bundled rate, and that option would be okay with me. At the very least I will have a chance to try before I buy and assess whether a single or double format works best for me.

So I won't be installing YogaJournal until I see an announcement in a future issue of Yoga Journal that tells me you are adding this format to my subscription or, at least, giving me a chance to try it!

Excellent Digital Magazine, Poor Comparable Value

As is the case with nearly every other reviewer, I have been a loyal print subscriber for several years-even after leaving the country. I sent countless emails in anticipation of the iPad app, and after momentary excitement, was disappointed that they did not offer the free digital option for print subscribers. Worse still, each copy is twice the price of many of my other Newstand favorites. Unfortunately, I've let my print edition expire for the first time in years so that I could keep this new and truly improved digital version. It makes me wonder: was this their goal? Are they hoping to move away from the print market? If so, based on the comparative value, they have certainly convinced me to make the switch!

Articles vs Ads

I'm very confused after reading the high ratings for YogaJournal . It seems like the issues available for $3.99 are mostly pages and pages of ads. I'm seeing very few articles. The print magazine feels like it has many more articles. Am I missing something in YogaJournal ? I see and use the arrows, info buttons, etc., but still am only feeling like there are about 5 or 7 articles per download. And most of those are 1or 2 pagers. Is it me or do others feel that way too?

If there is a secret to this, please share. Thanks!

Glitchy And Broken Subscription Service

I would have reported a problem within YogaJournal but YogaJournal freezes whenever I attempt to. To make matters worse I have a subscription but YogaJournal never seems to remember that and tries to charge me even though it isn’t time for me to renew my subscription. I have also had issues with getting the magazine itself to load and YogaJournal in general is just plain buggy. I don’t normally leave reviews bu the headaches with YogaJournal are insurmountable enough to make it not worth it until they address this problems. I will be cancelling my subscription.

Problems with electronic magazine

I love the magazine, but imagine my surprise when I found out I can only access the magazine if I am in an area where there is wifi. I purchased the magazine on line to help cut back on the use of paper, but not being able to access it when I want to is frustrating. I paid for the subscription to be able to read it anywhere. Very disappointed with magazine access. You should make people aware that if they purchase your magazine, you can only read it in a wifi zone. I would have purchased the hard copy subscription if I knew this.

Yoga Journal stands to lose many print subscribers - what a foolish mistake

I couldn't believe that Yoga Journal would advertise the iPad features in the print magazine that I subscribe to and then inform me that I would have to pay for a second digital subscription to access these features. How foolish! Every magazine that I currently subscribe to, including Whole Living, provide the iPad edition for free to loyal print subscribers. I for one will not be renewing my print subscription to Yoga Journal. If Yoga Journal is looking to put their print edition out of service then I would say "job well done" because this is the first step. Disappointed!

Great app.......loving it!!!

Been a huge fan of the magazine for years and when I moved abroad was worried about having to give up reading YJ. YogaJournal has been invaluable. Worth every penny. Now if I could only figure out a way to clip articles for my files......

Overpriced

I was very excited to see YJ offer their great magazine on the iPad! However, I am totally confused by the pricing. I get a year, in print, for about $14 and they want me to pay $6 MORE for the digital version? This makes no sense, especially since they only produce 9 issues a year. I would love to reduce my paper waste and go digital so why not offer it for the same price I get for the print subscription? I believe $10-$15 a year would be very reasonable.

I hope YJ takes these complaints into consideration. Thanks!

American Greed even at Yoga Journal

I have the print coming and now have been charged for iPad version that I didn't know also. I subscribe to Mental Floss and they do not charge extra for iPad if you subscribe to print. I even called Yoga Journal and told them just switch my print to digital and not even send a printed copy to save on paper - I was told it couldn't be done. Definitely will not be renewing after being with them for a long time and am now subscribed to Yoga International that I found and seems to be better anyway.

No access to print subscribers?

I downloaded the YG app, expecting, as a print subscriber, to get the digital version for no additional cost as I do for TIME and Everyday Food. What a disappointment to discover the digital format is not accessible for free OR EVEN AT A DISCOUNT to print subscribers. I'll delete YogaJournal and reconsider in 2014 when my print expires. Perhaps this business decision is meant to hasten the cessation of publication of the print edition? It will definitely make me think long and hard about whether to do early renewal of my print subscription.

Be aware impossible to cancel subscription

Last year I found a charge for this magazine and requested to be cancel.
Once again this year they charge again for content I don’t even use or read.
Sent email to Apple and have clicked on the cancel subscription button many times.
But now it’s another year they take my money without consent and even though they bill in advance there’s no option to get your money back.
Please stop taking my money !!!

What is YJ thinking?

I have been a subscriber for quite some time and am saddened that a magazine that promotes generosity of spirit, kindness to others, etc practices such greed when it comes to conducting business. I would love to have sat in that meeting and hear the discussion when they decided to charge print subscribers as well. Can't imagine what they are thinking. Makes me rethink whether I want to keep me subscription all together. They need to publicly apologize.
