Terrible app

2024-12-16

Great idea but awful implementation. Buses are not linked directly to this system. App will say bus is arriving in 3 minutes. Picture will show bus moving closer. App will say bus is arriving “now” but bus will not appear at the stop I’m at. Then app resets and says bus is “3 minutes away” and even then it doesn’t come in 3 minutes. Do not use RideOnRealTime to depend on catching a bus at a specific time. Just go out there and be prepared to wait 2-3 times longer than RideOnRealTime says. And, on occasion, the bus completely disappears from the map and never comes.

Utterly useless!

2024-12-16

I don’t know where to even begin! RideOnRealTime is incredibly frustrating to use. It is unreliable - the GPS is out whack and not at all accurate. As of late, using RideOnRealTime has been a mute point. In terms of the poor design and lack of functionality, I get the sense that whom ever designed it never used it in the real world. Please improve RideOnRealTime - ask users what they would like in an app and you’ll have tons of feedback. Go back and design an app worthy of every day usage! Seriously!

Horrible Design

2024-12-16

1. You can't even find your bus route. They are sorted in RANDOM order, so you have to look through every one of them
2. The route doesn't tell you which direction it's referring to (North -> South or vice versa), making it useless half the time
3. You can't even choose the station to see the arrival times. It guesses a station that's close to you, and if it's wrong, you have to manually zoom in and try to click on the microscopic icons

New app is much worse than old app

2024-12-16

The new version is much harder to effectively use. It’s tough to just put in a Stop ID or quickly look up what buses are arriving soon. The directions (compared to putting in end location) makes the system tough also. Would be great for them to review this system. It was a decent app before - and has become much more difficult to use

Worthless App

2024-12-16

Really, who designed this mess? Difficult to use. No back button so if you want that prior screen, too bad. And the “ real time” arrival has no relationship to where the bus is or when it will arrive. Bus today came 12 minutes after real time said it arrived. I’ve missed more busses than I’ve managed to catch. Quicker just to walk than playing bus roulette with RideOnRealTime.

Defunct

2024-12-16

I wish I could give RideOnRealTime 0 stars. RideOnRealTime is wrong 90% of the time. Google Maps is better than RideOnRealTime. What makes it worse is that I don’t really know which app to use so I wait outside for the bus so I don’t miss it. This afternoon I was outside for 30 minutes in 95F (feels like 105F) because RideOnRealTime said the bus was only 10 minutes away. I almost passed out because it was so hot outside.

Not real time

2024-12-16

I tried to depend on RideOnRealTime for the actual real times for the bus so that my commute to work is as flowly & easy as possible. Well, that hasn’t been happening, if its real time then why are buses showing up earlier or later than what RideOnRealTime says?! Make it make sense, I am now late for work because the bus showed up 5 min before it was supposed to. Thanksss.

Pathetic

2024-12-16

I have to believe that whoever designed RideOnRealTime has never ridden a bus before. Ask people who ride the bus what they need and maybe you'll end up with a decent app. They redesigned RideOnRealTime maybe a year ago and took a decent app and made it horrible. Not a single redeeming feature. Why doubt you pay Metro to let your feed be a part of the vault superior BusETA web app?

Used to be great, but pretty useless right now

2024-12-16

I’m currently waiting at a bus stop. I’ve been waiting for 10 minutes. When I got here, RideOnRealTime said the bus was 3 minutes away (the 3 min was in green, indicating that was a real time estimate). Those three minutes came and went, no bus. Now RideOnRealTime says the next bus is scheduled in 25 minutes, but a green bus is on the map about 5-10 minutes away (my guess).

At some point in the last month or two, the gps of the bus got misaligned with the time of arrival estimate, making RideOnRealTime fairly pointless at doing what it’s supposed to do - tell you how long you have until the bus gets here. I used to be able to use RideOnRealTime to know exactly when to leave house, but now it’s entirely a guessing game. I ride the bus and use RideOnRealTime every day and I can’t really remember the last time a bus arrived when RideOnRealTime said it would.

Can’t get real time signals anymore

2024-12-16

The newly-designed app was working fine until about two weeks ago (early Jan 2018) when I no longer received any more real time location signals from any buses. This has been the case now for two weeks. I am only able to see scheduled times. Buses seem to have their transponders turned on, so is this an app issue?

Inaccurate

2024-12-16

You can use RideOnRealTime to find bus schedules fairly easily, but the real time function does not work. If buses are running early, you will miss them using RideOnRealTime to plan your journey. The Ride On website real time tracker is accurate; not clear why those data are not used in RideOnRealTime.

Unreliable

2024-12-16

Never can trust RideOnRealTime to tell me when a bus is coming. Real-time is a joke. If you are going to offer real time location do it right. Very frustrating to use.

Decent, but could be better

2024-12-16

RideOnRealTime initially seemed great as it does indicate nearby buses and routes, but it takes a long time to load and the route times can be way off—sometimes due to traffic and sometimes because RideOnRealTime seems to be still loading. It’s difficult to switch between routes also—I have had to restart RideOnRealTime to pick a different route.

It’s helpful to have a general idea of the schedule and when the bus will arrive at a nearby stop, though.

Convenient. Needs work

2024-12-16

I think RideOnRealTime is great because I’m always unaware of the bus schedule and which buses are nearby. The information is displayed organized. However I would like to have the information on the “choose your direction” menu reflect what I see on the bus. I don’t know whether a destination is south bound or north bound all the time.

Can no longer save stops as favorites

2024-12-16

The redesign looks nice, but I don’t see a way to add certain stops as favorites anymore. I don’t want to have to search through all nearby stops when I only use two stops regularly.
