I dislike having to sign in to view the news. I want to be able to just view the news with one simple click.

Subscription pop up is annoying. Could read few articles without interruption. Can't start reading most news.

If I could give MercedSunStarNews and newspaper 0 stars I would! In a town of 80,000 people the Sun-Star staff never even gets close to telling the real stories that happen in this city! Their sports section is non existent and they don't update any stories previously posted! I'm not sure why the sun star is still even a paper! Horrible horrible horrible. It's sad that we as a community put up with such garbage. Now they want to focus on national news? I can get that from way better sources. Step up and do some actual work.

MercedSunStarNews is ok. Nothing to brag about. No video options. But charging for a mediocre paper? Especially online? I'll move to another app instead of this one.

MercedSunStarNews isn’t bad but doesn’t update soon enough. The FB account actually has more up to date local news posts. Bottom line it’s free and can’t complain.

I'm from the area of Merced and I've been living on the east coast for a while. Reading Merced Sun-Star articles is how I keep up on news from back home. I liked the updates to the mobile app except for one, now I have to pay to read the articles. I understand the Sun-Star has to make money, but I cannot justify paying for a subscription to a newspaper 3,000 miles away. I used to be able to read the articles for free on the website as well as MercedSunStarNews but I can see that has changed. So MercedSunStarNews is probably worth it if you have a job in this poor economy and can afford to pay for a subscription on top of your other bills. Unfortunately as a new homeowner with a mortgage payment and home repair bills I cannot, so I'm deleting MercedSunStarNews . From now on I'll have to rely on news from Merced that makes national headlines so I can read it on my cnn app(free) or ask friends and family in the area what's been going on.

Easy to use & informative.. The commenting and posting to social networks has a bug tho.. It kicks you out of the application when attempting to post.. Please fix
AS OF JUNE 2014 it's asking me to sign in and pay for a subscription to read and use... No thx! I will be deleting MercedSunStarNews now

MercedSunStarNews is pretty good. The one major complaint is that when I click on a notification I am taken to the home page, not the article referenced in the notification.

Mobile site is better.

Looks great, would be nice if when a notification for a particular story is pressed, it goes to the given article. I would still like to see those changes but I'm upping my review because of all the other changes made to bring MercedSunStarNews current. It's great!

So happy that my local paper now has an app! I check it often throughout the day and it's always up to date.

I have tried both MercedSunStarNews and MercedSunStarNews for iPad each works for a few days and then I get error messages your device is not authorized for this application even though I have a press plus digital account I am I have contacted both press plus and the Merced SunStar their support is very poor.
