Used to be great

I used to use MiLB every day to check all sorts of games and stats, HOWEVER, they’ve made an update this year in 2019 in which MiLB is utterly and completely useless. The way to view schedules are garbage, you can’t view them by game, finding player stats and info is very difficult now, and overall MiLB is complete trash. If they want people to continue using it they better revert back to the old ways, because this is an absolute joke for an app in 2019.

Update: The reviews about how much everyone hates the changes to MiLB continue to pour in, yet there is no effort of any change on this app’s part. This is a pathetic excuse for an app compared to what was our last year and before. I continue to only use a computer to check minor league stats and standings as the way MiLB is designed is so utterly poor it is unusable. Revert back to the old changes or continue to lose attention from fans you desperately need.

Buggy, bad app

What outsourcing company made MiLB? It doesn’t remember your login. It’s unintuitive. If you select Double A to view their games, it will switch back to triple A when you leave the screen, but won’t change the header, so you’ll see a bunch of triple A games under the double A header. You have to remember to tap again to get the real schedule. Even when you subscribe you’ll have janky ads all over MiLB .

You can’t set a reminder for game starts, and you have no idea if a game will actually be viewable or not. Audio feeds are done by iHeart. So if the game isn’t broadcasted on video, you basically pay $40 for free iHeart radio with commercials. Did I mention paid subscribers still get janky ads all over MiLB itself?? We’ll yeah. No thanks. Terrible experience. Also, the iHeart radio stream cuts out once MiLB goes in the background!!! Literally useless for radio.

What happened?

Why did you feel the need to “fix” MiLB. It worked perfectly well for the last 3 years. This new update has ruined The Who this app experience on my smart phone. We no longer can see a teams schedule by the month. That makes it hard to get a visual for where they will be and plan accordingly. Why do we now need to be redirected to a website when choosing to see the box score? Why doesn’t it go to the most current game happening when you choose your team. I have to scroll to today’s game for some reason. Why when i pick to watch do I have to constantly pick double A. It keeps returning to triple every time. Also why do we have to keep signing back in every single day. Get it together. Who ever redesigned MiLB needs to understand what it is like to be a fan of the this app. MiLB is complete crap and I want it back the way it was. If it isn’t broke don’t fix it!

We all make mistakes

I also once hired my unqualified nephew to redesign my product because my sister and mom guilted me into it. I also thought the half-baked ideas he gleaned from his half semester at community college before dropping out sounded at minimum different than what we were already doing. I also lost revenue and respect as a result of his ineptitude and my own terrible decisions.

(Hang on. That's not what happened with MiLB? Oh.)

Well, I also worked for a group that provided an efficient and satisfactory service, which meant they really didn't need much from me. This made me frightened they might begin to see me as dead weight as there was little reason for me to work on something that already functioned so well. In order to justify my position with the company, I needed to implement a complete overhaul of the product to make it so unbearable they would need to keep me on staff for eternity to undo all of the problems my "improvements" created. Problems such as paying customers bailing like rats on a ship.

(That's the one. Feels good. Feels right.)

At least 75% of the streams no one will ever get to see via MiLB are theoretically in HD now. Y'know, 15 years after HD became standard.

Maybe if I delete and download MiLB an eighth time it will work. Maybe? It might be working ... nope, it was just gas.

New user, very disappointed

I’m new to following this app games closely, because my home town, Amarillo, just got a team. I was excited in the offseason when I found out there was an app supposedly similar to MLB atbat for minor league games. When they FINALLY updated it and added the Sod Poodles the day before the season, however, it became nothing like the At-Bat and basically useless. Everything you could want to look at (Box Scores, Highlights, Audio from the games) just takes you in a pop up window and loads it on the this app site. If I wanted to do that, I’d just pull up the site myself. Plus, I turned on the notifications for the Sod Poodles and haven’t gotten a single one. I’ve had better luck turning on Twitter notifications from the team and listening to games in the TuneIn radio app. A refreshed version of last year’s app seems like it would be a lot better. Not sure why this route was chosen.

2019 version extremely disappointing

Last hear was great. Perfect way to catch practically any minor league game across the country. “improvements” for 2019 have significantly reduced the product’s value. Glitches are numerous and we are only one game in so who knows how else I will be disappointed in games to come: screen does not rotate. Games appear as unavailable in game listing once started but actually are if you ignore the text. While watching a game, we no long per have easy access to instant stats, other scores, line ups, with an easy swipe. Pregame coverage is gone. Even the customer service form isn’t functional. Still not sure how to access archived games from yesterday because navigation is screwed up. Not sure why, knowing this version obviously didn't work, this app didn't just switch back to the 2018 version. I cant recommend it presently, not at $50.

Growth of the game?

I have never reviewed an app before but went through the trouble of posting this to share my disappointment in removing box scores from MiLB . It is no secret that baseball is struggling to maintain its appeal especially with younger fans. Instead of adding functionality, they have removed key elements I suppose in an attempt to force fans to pay for the paid package. Between this and the recently released memo cracking down on the publication of video I question whether this is a sport that wants to retain this once avid fan or in fact any of its fans. Please MLB and this app please take your cues from the NBA and embrace the social experience that is being a fan. I hope this latest update is just a stepping stone to an update with greater functionality that hasn’t been released but if anyone reads these please consider adding back box scores. Until then my usage will be 0.

Great app!

Love the this app app! Great resource.

I do have an idea to try and improve though, if possible. When I'm looking though a box score, I know I'd love to see which players are listed on their team's top 30 per MLB pipeline. I'm thinking next to their name they could have the number (e.g. Moncada, #1). Alternatively, maybe just putting their name in bold font or all caps to highlight that they are on the top 30 and then when you click on the players name it would show their overall and organizational ranking. I know most of the guys in my favorite team's top 30 but I rarely know the opponents' top guys. Again, just a thought. Love MiLB overall!

Literally doesn’t have team schedules

MiLB has circled the drain for a while now, but this latest development takes the cake. There’s no where to view a basic schedule for a team in MiLB . Like a quick-glance, refrigerator magnet type schedule. You either have to scroll game my game and get carpal tunnel in your thumb, or can only view “home games” via a link to buy tickets. This seems like it should be the most basic function of a league/sports app, yet it’s totally omitted.

In the past they’ve removed native functionality, and it forces you to link to websites for box scores etc. But they’ve included links to buy fake Bitcoin, which is super useful. It’s not like they’ve had any time to work on it or improve it, the 2021 season really snuck up on ‘em after the hectic 2020 this app year!

Used to love this app, now it’s useless.

I’ve used MiLB for years to keep up with my (now) husband, and I’ve always loved it. It used to mirror the MLB At Bat app, which was great. Now it’s like they were too lazy to handle the upkeep MiLB requires. You can’t watch Gameday or see boxscores in MiLB anymore, they just send you to the website (within MiLB , but still). Because of this, any notifications you have turned on are useless. No notifications for when games are starting, lead changes, pitching changes, etc., which for many of us is a huge reason we use MiLB . This update is supposed to be more “user friendly.” It’s not. It’s garbage. None/10 would recommend, and I would definitely not recommend paying for a monthly or annual subscription for MiLB until they revert to the previous format.

I would give It less than 1 star if I could

MiLB has gone downhill. I have MiLB and pay monthly to watch games because my boyfriend is on a Minor league team. Video is horrible, I can’t ever actually watch the game. It constantly freezes, skips, stops all together. I’ve tried using MiLB on different devices and WiFi and It still doesn’t work. Not only that but I tried contacting customer service where all they did to help was tell me to delete MiLB and redownload It. Thank you but that was the first solution I had and that did not work. Now GameDay isn’t even working. The new 2019 version of MiLB is overall horrible. Thank God TuneIn still works or I would have zero way of staying in tune to how my boyfriend is doing since I cannot be there. This is by far the MOST FRUSTRATING app ever.

Used to be good, now it just stinks

1)If a game was previously suspended you do not see the current game on the schedule you see that game and you have to scroll to the left just to find the current game. 2)You do not automatically stay logged in permanently, you have to keep logging in every few days just to be able to watch the games if you have the “TV” game watching subscription service. 3)With no season in 2020 you would think they would have worked on getting the ability to watch this on Apple TV so you can watch on a regular tv instead of mobile device, which still is not available. They had an entire year to improve MiLB but instead it has gotten worse.

Very Disappointed

I have been a user of the this app app for over 3 years and I have never been this disappointed. Feeds can’t be played on iPhone X unless you are connected to WiFi and you can no longer access box scores. This has been a major disappointment and all actual functionality of MiLB has been lost. The “improvements” for MiLB have been anything but and the navigation for MiLB is virtually non existent. This update has been a total flop and to say a disappointment is an understatement. The developers should be ashamed of themselves for assuming this would be an improvement. Update: MiLB slightly improved but is once again dysfunctional. Whomever hired these developers needs to be fired.

Updated app is terrible.

I have been paying to watch the minor league games using MiLB for 5 years now. The changes that have been made are terrible. The schedule is no longer in a calendar view which makes it difficult to look at. The upcoming games no longer list the anticipated starting pitchers it only lists TBD. Initially thought the video could only be viewed using WIFI but now after trying to get into today’s game using WIFi I wasn’t able to access at all. Sent email logs but no response. I would recommend not paying for the video access because it is a waste of money if you think you are going to have access to the hundreds of games the advertise, you are not.

Can we please get an Apple TV app already

I added 1 star since the streaming is working finally. Why do I have to sign-in everytime I wanna watch something. The layout is terrible. I can keep links on my phone if I wanna goto websites. The audio links will only open the tunein app not the tunein pro app so now I need to keep both apps on my phone because of this garbage app. Needs hide score option. Glad to see the mirroring to Apple TV works this year. But an Apple TV & Apple Watch version is needed. The banner across the bottom of the screen is annoying (isn't the $50 enough so the banner goes away). Need GCL & offseason leagues.

I wish this was like it used to be.

I had MiLB for about 2 years and I didn’t use it much at first. But our baseball team where we live is only about 25 minutes from our house. And it’s easy to go to games and MiLB “used “ to be very helpful. I have been having trouble even logging into and seeing seats availability and tickets and player stats and so on... now it will not even come up for me. I hate not seeing player stats and stuff like that bc some of our former players went to go on to the Majors for the Texas Rangers. It’s a shame that MiLB used to be so good now I don’t even use it. Bc there is really no point in it. Please change it back.

Not Functional, Support Non-Existent

I downloaded MiLB and subscribed to MiLBTV to watch Durham Bulls away games. I have an iPhone 6s and Apple TV. I wanted to stream games via Airplay from my phone to Apple TV. Games work perfectly fine while playing on my iPhone, but the moment I switch to Airplay, it no longer works and I get a blank screen. I tried a random, pre-recorded, highlight video on MiLB and used Airplay. It worked with no problems. I contacted the supposed customer support team regarding the issue and have yet to receive a response.

Beyond that, the Standings page flickers/jumps every time and doesn’t include all of the information that the team sites do and it send a notification when a game is delayed due to weather.

Makes the Minor Leagues look Bush League

I don’t have the time to bother going through everything wrong with MiLB update, but here’s some things:

• Gameday and Box Scores are not embedded, but are loaded from their respective webpages.
• Not only that...EVERY SINGLE BUTTON on the team page just opens an in-app web browser. Roster, schedule, team news, tickets, everything.
• Gameday and Box Scores are not available from the scoreboard page at all (???), only if you save a team page.
• If a game is rained out, the box score shows that the game is final and the game summary shows placeholders (e.g.: Runs: RR; Hits: HH; Errors:EE).
• Viewing any stats screen shows exactly one stat at a time.
• Most of the interface screens are filled with abnormally huge buttons or ridiculous amounts of white space, which is awful UI on a small screen.
• Still does not contain information for the AZL, GCL or DSL.

MiLB wasn’t great before, it was still just a 2-star app. Now 1-star is too high.

Congratulations on making the minor leagues look downright bush league.

Well at least it doesn’t crash anymore - now fix the rest

Thank you for fixing the crash for “some” (I’m betting most if not all) so at least it runs. I think others have put it plainly - please go and put it back the way it was - your current layout and functionality leaves a LOT to be desired. I too miss the monthly schedule, can you at least bring that back? And why do companies think that changing an app is a good idea, if it’s not broke and it’s not a requested feature, don’t change it!

What In The World?

I’ve never felt passionately enough about any app to write a detailed review, but this most recent update has me so confused that I felt obligated on the small chance it may spurn a change.

What were you thinking? Seriously, who approved this? You took one of the best sports apps out there - easy to use, convenient, gave all the relevant information quickly, probably the second best box score app in my opinion - and turned it into a glorified web browser. Why? Did you need more clicks on your mobile site or something? I seriously don’t understand it.

It’s..awful. I used the old app every day, and now I will struggle to use this once a week but only because I have no other options. It’s that bad.

And to top it all off, you waited until after the season started to send the update!

It doesn’t look better, it doesn’t function better, and your webpages take forever to load even on 100mb WiFi.

Pay the players, then pay for a better app support leadership team.

Improved, but still needs work

I love the idea of being able to follow my Buffalo Bisons all the way over in Phoenix, AZ, BUT improvements still need to be made. First, why must I constantly have to login! In 2019 Face ID should be the standard. The viewing experience could greatly be helped with the addition of “home” and “away” radio coverage on both the TV and radio feeds. Overall, the fact MiLB exists is a real plus, BUT compared to other minor league sport apps, this one falls short.

I don’t hold it against them in this review rating, but good god get a RoKu app too!

MiLB First Pitch has turned to absolute crap in just one year and they don't seem to care.

Hitting the box score button on my Samsung 10 5G does absolutely nothing. This app is useless.
