CANNOT DELETE ANYTHING

I paid for "premium". But GymbossIntervalTimer is beyond frustrating. Two key issues, but the one that really gets me all worked up is how terribly difficult it is to delete anything. If you added an extra interval by mistake, you are STUCK! Also, if you want to reduce the proliferation of unused timers ... can't delete those either! For "balance" they have a website that shows you how to do it. I read the online manual, and still can't get it to work. It really should NOT be this complicated or difficult.
#2: GymbossIntervalTimer can't add warm up or cool down sections that don't repeat themselves. The only thing that does not repeat is the "Countdown". But if you want say 5 intervals (30 second sprints followed by 2 minute walks), and end with a cool down, GymbossIntervalTimer includes the cool down as part of the whole thing that repeats itself 5 times. Why do I want to "cool down" 5 times?!? Frustrating.
CONCLUSION: Until the 2 issues are resolved, I can't recommend GymbossIntervalTimer.

For traditional martial arts it’s one of the Best

So you like to do Chi gong or Nei gong stances or sitting postures. You may have 2 or more stances or postures you want to do in consecutive order. GymbossIntervalTimer is for you. You can make a timer for setting up for your first posture the timer of the first posture in another time or after to give you time for the next posture for example (:20,3mins,:15,3mins)
20 seconds to set you up , 3 mins for the first posture then another 15 second timer to give you time to change into the next posture, then 3 mins for the second posture. This is just a example for extreme traditional martial arts enthusiast or professional athletes that wants to cut right to the chase while in airplane mode all business.

Useless

I’ve used this for years up until now. It once was one of the best I tried until I found that it would not beep if the screen was not up and running constantly. I’m a trainer that relies on this working consistently. If I navigate back to my notes the counter stops working and it never beeps to let you know the interval ended. My campers and I are frustrated with this useless app. Not realistic to only have that app open and nothing else running. USELESS. Finding something more efficient. Don’t waste your time unless you want to keep your screen on the entire workout and don’t count on switching screens at any point during the interval or it’s all thrown off. Crap in my opinion.

Best interval timer

This is by far the best interval timer. I have tried more than 20 other timer apps and none of them work as well as Gym Boss. It is easy to use, make custom timers—and the infinite interval feature is unique and wonderful. When I did have trouble with GymbossIntervalTimer , I contacted customer support, and within 2 hours, I had a personal response specifically addressing my issue—and solving it. Thank you Gym Boss for this wonderful app!

Best gym time I’ve found yet!

I love how it’s simple, yet customizable. I wish it was possible to build workout routines using a computer connection, because it’s sometimes hard typing everything in from my phone (I always wind up with so many typos) and trying to reorder things, but that’s my only “complaint” and it’s minor. Still love GymbossIntervalTimer!

Doesn’t work when phone locked

I have loved GymbossIntervalTimer and have been using it for years when doing the run walk run method. In the latest update, GymbossIntervalTimer will not run in the background when my phone is locked. It won’t even run in the background if another app is pulled up. This is highly inconvenient and makes GymbossIntervalTimer useless unless you want to have it up and open during your entire run. This is not a setting issue either, I have allowed all notifications. Please fix this issue!

Update ruined it

I agree with others who found the recent update to completely ruin GymbossIntervalTimer. I use it for breathing exercises (the sounds it makes tell me when to breath in and out) and like to have it on in the background while I do other things on my phone to help me relax. That no longer works as the sounds don’t sound anymore unless GymbossIntervalTimer is front and center. I don’t want to have to find another app and reprogram all my exercises into it. Please just fix this issue; It was great before!

Used to love this until the update

I do run walk intervals and have used this for years. I set the interval, play my music, lock the screen and tuck my phone away. GymbossIntervalTimer beeps when I need to switch. I do not use the visual feature at all - I am running and do not want to be looking at my phone.

After the latest update, GymbossIntervalTimer will no longer beep if my screen is off. I have it set not to sleep but if my screen is off or if my music app is on top of the screen it will not beep. It keeps running but no sound.

So at this point it is just about useless to me! If I leave it on the screen when I tuck it away it will work but it runs down my battery on a long run.

Terrible update. Now I have to search for another interval app.

Easy to configure

This has worked well for me as a Masters Swim coach. My swimmers really liked it. I spent some time looking for a simple to set up and flexible interval timer with a strong visual element that made it easy to see how much time is left in the set. This fits the bill.

I strongly agree adding an Apple Watch companion app would be super helpful.

I kind of dodged a bullet

I got lucky in that I didn’t install the update until after my half marathon last weekend. Because now, as others have said, GymbossIntervalTimer doesn’t play with my phone’s screen locked so now I’m in the market for a new timer.

Update: I’ve settled on the “Seconds” app. It fully suits my needs for run/walk. It looks promising for more complex speed workouts but I haven’t tried it yet.

Alarm doesn’t work when screen is idle

While the screen is asleep the timer doesn’t trigger the finish sound until i grab the phone and wake it up. I prefer not to have the screen always on. Or at least make the screen go to sleep when timer isn’t running with an option so I don’t forget it like that and drain the battery. Thanks

Deleting unneeded timers is not obvious

I’ve created a number of timers that I no longer need, but it is difficult to delete them. The control is very picky when you swipe left. Many times it isn’t recognized. Improve this and I’ll give you a 5.

I’ve used this app for years

I love it. Please, PLEASE update so that I can use it on my watch. I use GymbossIntervalTimer several times per week. I’ve tried several other timers but this one is the best.

Great App

I love GymbossIntervalTimer and have been using in my classes for years. The one thing that would make it better is to have an Apple Watch app. I would love to be able to control it through my watch.

By

Like it

Long time user of GymBoss I just really like the simplicity and ease of use, the cues are nice and all but the only thing I need from GymbossIntervalTimer to be full 5 stars is an Apple Watch app or compatibility. But I still like it a lot.

App No Longer Works

GymbossIntervalTimer will no longer open. May have something to do with the latest iOS update.

By

Editing is too hard

I find it very difficult to edit the time on my timers. I have to delete and reinstall the time each week. I would also like to be able to change the sound easily. Can’t do that either.

All around bad stuff

Shuts off during a session. Won't open a timer most times upon opening. Need to clear most or all open apps to use. Seems like I need to open and close twice before it allows me to use a timer. iPhone 6 Plus had been around too long to be experiencing issues.

Sound

Your May 27th update has resulted in GymbossIntervalTimer automatically lowering the sound volume (3,2,1 countdown) on my iPhone 6s Plus. I know it's GymbossIntervalTimer because I turned up the volume to full repeatedly while during my workout (and using GymbossIntervalTimer ) only to watch GymbossIntervalTimer turn the sound volume done repeatedly. Please fix. I do love your app.

By

Good start

Once I turned my music way down I can here the alert. My guess is GymbossIntervalTimer volume is constant. I too would love to see this as a user adjustable function

I notice a few reviews on multitasking and not see alerts. I experience this as well. In fact today I noticed if my iPhone goes into sleep mode I lose alerts. This causes GymbossIntervalTimer to be a bigger battery drain than it needs to be

Please do not take these as gripes. I am grateful for the free app. I use it when running and do not look at the screen after I start my program, therefor sound is very important

Edit

Easy to configure. How do I edit timer/workout?

Works great

I have only used for run/walk intervals & I love it. One day I will try the tabata segment.

The best configurable timer in iTunes

Great app! I gave my wife a Gymboss timer for Christmas and now I have it on my iPod Touch! For FREE even! I used it to configure the cardio workout per Body for Life.

Noticed on reviews in iTunes that some cannot hear the timer sounds through headphones. At first, I also experienced that problem. For some reason, now I don't.

Also related, some complained about not hearing the sounds when music is playing. I had the same problem, but once again, now I do not. Not sure what happened, but I can hear the sounds with my music.

There is a problem with it running in the background. It stalls when it gets to a new interval so I have to leave it running in the front at all times.

My wish list for GymbossIntervalTimer would be:

1. fix the multi-tasking problem
2. ability to have and move several "rounds" not just one at the end
3. better integration with playing music (adjustable volume or like another exercise app I found (and don't use), fades music down so you can hear the tone
4. just a few more sounds would be nice

And for even more development:

5. have a voice that gives you how much time is left and be able to set that (start voice countdown with one minute left in interval and then every "x" seconds with "x" seconds to go)

GymbossIntervalTimer is the best out there, I think, and is certainly the easiest in terms of configuring a routine. So, so easy to make your own routines. I tried all the free ones and you either can't do it or it is too complicated.

Awesome, especially for the price!

GymbossIntervalTimer is great and does what it says. I have a few notes of constructive criticism, though.
1) When in the background the timer will pause after completing the step it is on. It would be great if you could optionally have it continue in the background (reading a recipe, a book, etc.). Maybe even throw up an optional alert?
2) The timer sounds are a bit quiet when listening to music simultaneously. Louder sound files, volume control, etc. would be nice. Also, it's not obvious but the sounds do not play in the headphones when the main iPhone 'mute' switch is on. Weird.
Otherwise, this is what great freeware is all about! Not even any annoying ads!

Best app timer for your workouts

I love the Gymboss timer, but I sweat so bad that they die in less than 6 months. I take the battery out and wipe it out after every workout, but my sweat seems to kill the timer. I found the gym boss app for my iPhone this weekend when my timer went out. I had the new mini so I could do multiple intervals. With GymbossIntervalTimer you can also create your own interval by adding more intervals to your created timer. You can use a preset one or create your own. I created my own. All you do is when making your intervals is use the bar at the top that has a plus sign, minus sign, a box and up down arrows. You click on the green box and it brings up another ‘New Interval” heading and the clock to set the time. It is very easy to use. I think I’m done with the timers. I’m tired of my sweat ruining them.

Love it - **Edited**

I Love GymbossIntervalTimer. So much that I'm giving it 5 stars. Very easy to set up long, multi-cycled workouts, and I can see at a glance where I'm at in a set. I think the color bundle was worth the Buck spent on it too. I get to invert the text colors, etc, or set other schemes for, (for example) the 7th & last set of a Tabata-style exercise for a motivational factor. I took literally, 2 minutes to write / save a session consisting of:
5 rounds of Tabata workout. After each of the 5 rounds I set 30 seconds each for a Turkish Get-up left, then right, then 2 minutes "active rest". I got to running on there, but that's just 1 example of what's possible with just a short time with this tool.

Love the app, but prefer the old version

I love GymbossIntervalTimer. The timer is great, the color choices to differentiate the times, the buzzer choices and the ability to play music are all great. I do not however like the new update. I liked knowing what was completely by next. I used to put my choreography in the timers and would know what the next activity was while doing the previous activity. Now I have to wait a few seconds to read the activity or put what is coming up next on the current activity. (I hope that makes sense) Please bring back the option to see what is coming next.
