Finally! A real planner for iPad.

2022-05-24

Well I used to love OpusDomini. It is now so outdated that Apple is telling me it will slow my device down because it's so old. Shame on you guys. This used to be an awesome app. I still use it but like they have said it no longer syncs. My work around is to sync with iPhone and iPad calendars. I use the task and planning and notes in my iPad only. But wish they would work like they used to.

I have been waiting for OpusDomini since iPad came out. I have been a Daytimer/Franklin Covey user for years. I wanted an app that did tasks, appointments, projects and contacts in one app. The only reason this does not get a 5 is that contacts and projects are not in this. But I know projects has been requested and I hope contacts will be also. I know iCloud is coming very soon but OpusDomini is awesome and well worth it and can't beat the price. I have tired many and paid much more then the current price and OpusDomini kicks all of their butts. Thanks team for an awesome app. I have already sold 6 people on OpusDomini for you. I am a computer tech and minister as well and have been showing this and demoing this to just about everyone I know.

Don't by this.

2022-06-25

You will be wasting your money if you purchase this. I used the Lite version for 4 months and liked it except for its limited entry restrictions. So I upgraded to the pro. I spent $17 getting the apps for Mac, iPhone, iPad. I wanted to be able to synch all of the devices. I did this in spite of all of the warnings listed in the reviews about all of the synching problems. That was stupid.

Once I installed all of the apps I could not synch the devises on a regular and reliable basis. It is hit and miss.....mostly miss. This is a total waste of your money.

I emailed the developer that I wanted a refund. That ain't gonna happen !!! I had tried everything they recommended in all of their documentation. Nothing made it work. It only made it worse. I tried deleting and reinstalling the apps numerous times. I spent an entire morning working with it.

Heed the warnings. It doesn't work and they are charging a hefty price for the trouble and are keeping the money.

I'm adding to my previous review. OpusDomini is a constant problem. For over a year it has had nothing but glitches almost every time I open it. Don't buy this. The developer can't seem to have anything but problems with OpusDomini .

Have we been abandoned?

2022-07-26

Is this now Abandonware?

The sync is still not working. I have never had my iPad, iPhone and Mac in sync for an entire day! For those of us that invested our record keeping in Opus Domini it's a disaster. This is an isolated program with no way to export all of my notes and records.

Thanks a lot Piso13.

------

This is the heir to Pocket Informant's market. As PI stumbles with upgrade failures and continuous feature creep, OpusDomini provides a clean, easy-to-use calendar and task management system based on Franlin-Covey.

The only problems I have noted are...

(1) the notes don't scroll up as you add more so your current typing is hidden by the keyboard.

(2) entries into the Master Task details often disappear

I'm looking toward to an iCloud connection to Apple's tasks. I hope that's what these folks are doing because just an iCloud backup sends me back to 2do. I need the task sync to link to Outlook on my company PC; so far, only 2do got it (almost) right.

Company no longer updates

2022-08-27

I wanted to love OpusDomini. I bought the iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions. In theory, this is the perfect embodiment of the Covey organizational system. Unfortunately the company seems unwilling or unable to put the time into making OpusDomini work. That's fine for a free app or maybe even a 99 cent one, but for the money I paid I definitely feel ripped off. The syncing was always an issue, but not a major one. I could make it work. But there have been bugs from the get go that have yet to be squashed. It doesn't rotate right. Switching between pages is an adventure. When I get it to work I'm not always sure how I did it. It's look is very much dated and a prime illustration of bad skueomorphism. Worst of all is that it hasn't been updated in over a year. If you can't even put the effort to make token improvements, you should just pull OpusDomini . It's just a shame because the parts are all there, I just don't think this company has the programming chops to make it work. Unfortunately I have to recommend you stay away from OpusDomini. Save your money, you'll just regret spending it.

Good stand alone app (only)

2022-09-28

This is a good STAND ALONE Covey planner app. I really do like the functionality and the interface. Best Covey software I have seen. Once you accept that you can only use it on a single device, you have a nice productivity app.

It DOES NOT SYNC, which is a real disappointment. (Think lost or corrupted data.) It's been almost two years and they still can't get it right. Maybe they should stop wasting everyone's time on syncing and focus instead on new features.

Some issues

2022-10-29

I have only used the program for a short time, I love the layout, it has the feel of a paper daytime but I wish I could change the names on the tabs or add my own. But the biggest problem comes
when setting a location for an appointment I am not able to type on the field and if I try the field flips upside down and the program freezes. I can pick use current location but it showed it as latitude and longitude. That would be great if I had a map showing me that info but in the real world showing me the name of the place I am currently at would be much more helpful. Hope that helps.

1/2 love it!

2022-11-30

On my iPad this is awesome! Love it, use it all the time. As a Franklin Covey long time user - this is a great mobile planner. However, getting it to sync on the iPhone is useless & frustrating. When I got the phone to have the right info it still had to manually updated every time I changed the iPad- even days later, nothing new on the iPad showed up on the phone. The tutorial on You Tube is for Mac & is mute- more useless. The directions Support sent didn't make sense- I have had 4 other people trying to figure this out- 2 of them IT guys. I guess I have to take my iPad with me wherever I go & the ph app is nothing but a calendar. That really isn't what I wanted.

Too many clicks

2022-12-31

OpusDomini has a lot of nice features, but it is cumbersome.
I have a lot of little tasks to keep track of on a daily basis and in order to mark it as completed each requires at least 2 clicks. It would be nice to be able to simply put a check mark in a box. It would also be nice to be able to add check box sub tasks to a main task so that all you see is the main task till you click on it, that would clear up the main page considerably for me.
It has a lot of other features which seem to be nice which I haven't found useful enough to go through the trouble of setting up.

Good app, lots of great features, on major issue...

2023-02-01

This is a great organization app that has some great features. The only major issue that I have with it is the fact that you MUST use the default calendar in order to have any real functionality. I don't use the default calendar, I use Google for my calendar. So, while this is a great app, this one downfall is the reason. I will be deleting it. I know I could connect my Google calendar to the default one and the use this, but that would limit functionality. Otherwise this is a great app.

Update long due

2023-03-05

OpusDomini is excellent, at least for some of us who are still skeumorphic-inclined. But it hasn't been updated for more than a year and has started to be buggy. Where are the developers? With the steady pace of iOS updates, it is unethical to leave an abandoned app on the AppStore and continue to collect money from unsuspecting downloads. Some apps remain solid over several iOS updates, others don't. How do you get to know which apps are still working? Should it be after you have already bought them?

Closest to a Franklin App than Any Other

2023-04-03

I am also a long time Franklin addict, and had never been even remotely satisfied with any planner app. I initially downloaded the free version, was pleasantly surprised, and after a couple weeks of research and continued use I went for it and bought the full version, fully expecting to regret it and consider it a waste of money. I have been proven wrong and have continued to use OpusDomini for almost an entire year - I have never before actually relied and continually used an online planner before, I have always return it to pen and paper and Franklin. Ironically Franklin has come to disappoint me in recent years with their limited selection compared to 10 years ago and now that I am hooked on Opus there is no way I would go back to a Franklin. There are a few issues with Opus that I wish were better: the compass feature and goal planning leave much to be desired, and for some reason I am unable to import or even manually add contacts, but this is easy to compensate for with standard iPad and iPhone apps. Overall I think OpusDomini has kept me better organized then Franklin ever did plus I am glad to be happy with something digital rather then stuck on paper. Haters are just haters!

Love but...

2023-05-05

I've been looking for a daily planner app for my iPad to be able to replace my big bulky planner. This is the best one I've seen however I would like to have the option to actually hand write tasks and notes so it doesn't take so long to enter info especially when I'm in a hurry or in meeting. I would also like to be able to swipe a task to draw a line through it to mark it complete. Please update soon!!!

Nothing else compares

2023-06-05

I have used innumerable planners and I always wanted to go back to FC system which is the one that works for me. It is sad someone else other than them came up with this excellent app. I use it as a stand alone app only on my ipad. Tried syncing and I lost data once and I said never again. Even with that issue I still think is the best planner out there. I work at home so I don't do planning on my phone anyway. Highly recommend OpusDomini.

Almost there, but still not syncing...

2023-07-07

This is by far OpusDomini to have! No other developer has the customer service or support that this has, thanks guys. The only complaint is the ever present sync issue. Losing daily notes on the ipad when I open the Mac version is so frustrating. The only solution I've found is to use OpusDomini on only one device. Once this is fixed OpusDomini will be 5star+++
Please fix the sync issue

I always come back to this

2023-08-07

I've tried a multitude of todo apps. Really. But I always find my way back to Opus Domini. There are some functions that I don't really care about, but the ones I do are there for me. It's set up just like my old paper planner - only better. The repeat task options are good. It's not complicated and cumbersome like a lot of todo apps. You can set priorities. There's a place to record daily notes - that's not difficult to see or hard to get to. (It's right there on the main page) it brings your unfinished tasks forward to today. And everything is searchable. I like it.

Works great for me so far.

2023-09-08

I have been seeing a lot of reviews complaining about the syncing of OpusDomini, but it has worked perfectly for me. I am running OpusDomini on an iPhone 6 Plus and an iPad Air 2 both with the latest updates and OpusDomini has performed perfectly for me. I input information on one device and it shows up immediately on the other one. I used to use franklin planners so this is a very natural migration for me.

Update please!!!

2023-10-10

Now that the iPhone has updated to 11.0, I can no longer access the many notes I’ve placed in OpusDomini. I don’t want to delete OpusDomini in hopes there is a way to access them again. I can’t even open it unless there is an update made. I’ve enjoyed OpusDomini because of the interface. It helped me in my transition from a hard planner to an electronic one. PLEASE HELP!!!

Perfect Franklin Replacement

2023-11-10

I had a hard time deciding to abandon my Franklin Planner, but now that I have an iPad Mini that takes up less space than my compact binder, I felt I had to somehow adapt to the digital age.

Opus Domini makes the decision to go from my old iPad to the Mini the best decision I've made in a long time. My calendars sync instantly, so I no longer have to enter information multiple times. On top of that, the idea that my notes page can scroll makes me less picky about what information about the day is worth writing down. I don't use the desktop app, but I have the mobile version on my phone and I don't have sync issues. As I mostly use my iPad to enter information and my phone to review it when I'm out, it usually suffices just to sync my phone at the end of the day.

Extension of my brain

2023-12-12

I use OpusDomini multiple times per day. I had a bad habit of writing task lists on multiple yellow pads, and not focusing on prioritizing and consolidating. I use on a single iPad and backup to iCloud works well. One additional feature that would help is the ability to group/sort tasks using color or separating tasks in to categories such as work, home etc. Thanks

Have you tried the Master Planner tool yet??!!

2024-01-12

Wow. So click an appointment and then click meeting planner. Wow. This is a home run & nearly an out of the park home run. If they can just get the iCloud sync to work a little better. There is often a 5 minute or so delay between devices. Other than that, apple should make this a standard app. FC, I'm sure, has to be so envious they couldn't do this. The master task planning tool is very useful. Great, great app. Keep it up. You're nearly there to where you can charge a lot more for OpusDomini.
