The game is decent but there are many flaws which make it forgettable. First is the constant crashing. This mostly happens when I reacting with any mail or notifications. Second is the iOS login is broken. I have lost three different characters to the iOS login before hundreds of people became bound to the SAME iOS login. This happened over a year ago and is still a problem. The amount of players in game have dwindled and I’m sure the reluctance of the devs to fix the issues has a lot to do with it.

I’ve played consistently for years. I’m not really a battle to win guy, but I’ve made some good friends over the years. Most have moved on.
Many players have moved on .. and yet the guilds they were with remain. So many guild battles with no one active.
If I were in charge, I’d pick a date and wipe out all existing guilds. Allow those to reform that want to. A complete reset.
The other issue I have is the pay to play better. It’s classism. You basically buy better gear giving you a significant advantage.

Used to be a really fun, social game but has since stagnated with cash grab events only. The entire infrastructure is also in bad shape between FB, iOS and Web3. Not to discourage anyone but it’s really not worth the effort if you are a new player, the entire game is very unbalance, only sustainable by the 1% remaining that still spend a fortune or cheat(yes cheating happens in the game), my advice is if you really want to play this game, just buy an account(its against TOS but it’s not like they enforce it)

It’s been through three owners and feels like it’s time to put it out of its misery.

Let’s start that Gaea changed the game entirely, and that screwed everything up. When they changed it, I found my iPhone login has been given to someone else’s toon. When that happened my original toon I have to log into using the castle age login. When I got a new iPhone, I had to start over with a new toon. Months later Gaea did another change, and that one was locked out forcing me to build yet another toon just to get into the game.

Best part of all is they deleted my last one star review.

Stay away from Gaea products.

This game has changed ownership over the course of 10 years. Unless the game goes through major updates, more players are gonna keep leaving.
There are so many outdated gameplays. For eg, the 3 types of pvp battles are tiered and once you reach the top, there’s no thing else to do. And what a lame grind to get to the top.
There are occasional events but you have to be a whale to get some decent loot. Farming materials to craft items or upgrade heroes is a joke! The randomness of drops or amount of damage you have to do on a monster is ridiculous.
There are so many missing features on iOS compared to the web version. This list is just scratching the surface of what is wrong in this game.
Meanwhile, in the Facebook page, I just see memes being posted by Castle Age.

I spent $200 and used 1500 favor points on caverns of Time fighting dozens of dragons and ended up with nothing to show for it. The drop percentages are ridiculously one sided and left many people feeling robbed. If we knew it was that bad we would never even have bothered. It make me not want to play anymore much less spend more money on a broken game that hasn’t had any bug fixes in years or game development. And once again they get your money and their customer support has been down for weeks so you can’t even complain, which is just as well as they just give you a standard response and do not actually do anything!

Think 2x before you play this game. Think 3x before you spend money on this game. I have played CA for over 10 years and during that time I have spent more than my fair share of money to say the least - until now. The developers have changed over the years and with each change the customer support has gotten much worse. Deca Games severely mismanaged their latest server maintenance, which had extremely detrimental effects for many of their customers. To add insult to injury, they refuse to accept full responsibility for their mismanagement and have failed to adequately compensate their customers after they short-changed them of several special event prizes during their error resolution process, despite receiving many requests for help from their customer base. Additionally, they have no clue how to resolve game glitches/crashes or how to run a battle game in a fair and equitable manner. Clearly, Deca Games only cares about how much money they can milk out of their customer base rather than providing a well-managed, fair and enjoyable game for all customers. Due to their dishonest nature, think 4x before spending any money in games managed by Deca Games.

I’ve been playing Castle Age for about 10 years, and I’ve never had so much frustration as during the Arena events. Trying to play on a computer takes 3x longer, as the servers are inundated with PvP battles, and trying to play on the mobile app is next to impossible, as every action times out to a blank screen. Want to join a guild battle? Better dedicate 30 minutes to unleash your 10 tokens. Maybe you’ll get to use them all before it ends. Looking forward to the END OF ARENA! Make a 5x or 10x button for arena. Maybe then we can get the servers back to normal.

I loved playing this game years ago when it was on Facebook and was happy to find CastleAgeHD a couple of weeks ago, although I’m finding it very confusing and can’t seem to get basic questions answered in wiki.

My main complaint is how buggy it is. CastleAgeHD *always* crashes every second or third thing I accept in News, and several times a day I have problems loading it; the screen just stays blank, or the game only loads to where I can see the buttons but nothing else, and clicking on them does nothing. Disappointing.

Been playing since game was on FB and then ios, over 10 years. Gaea is the 3rd owner of the game and has ignored most of its features- not addressing updates of different parts of the game. Example no new generals in months where previous developer had new general every month. Overall they just dont seem to care to understand the premise of the game. Latest update caused a complete loss of my progress and sent me back to starting over. Not worth your time if just starting, try something else.

I’ve been playing castle age for a good while now (more than 5yrs) and have several friends who play along with my family. It’s a fun button push game with lots of things to keep you busy, but it seems recently the game crashes a lot. I understand there is a web portal but it’s just not as convenient as an iPad app. Sure wish the devs would fix these things:
Game crashes when reading 2-3 mail items
quantity selection pull down doesn’t work in land purchase;must buy land 1 at a time
Crash when buying more than 1 consecutive pieces of land
Crash if tap to attack monster/duel/invade too quickly
Not all achievements gain credit
Application support web portal crashes when issue is reported

I work in corporate software development for a international EPC company, and I was really disappointed when I took the time to describe these issues in detail and provided screen captures and hitting submit crashed their support site... not sure if these guys are trying to keep the game alive or not.

Game on a downward spiral. New owners don’t want to release new content. They are happy to offer new packages for money. Sadly they haven’t added anything to the game. No new monsters, no new seasons for 10 v 10 or 100 v 100. Many players hanging it up, or slowing WAY down. It used to be a lot of fun and could be again if the new owners put a little effort into the game rather than letting coast along (towards the cliff ahead). Don’t ask me to contact you on Facebook as I already have repeatedly as have many others. That doesn’t do any good! Would love some effort put in to bring back the fun but I will not hold my breath.

This game harks back to the birth of Facebook. When Zynga was king of the social gaming frenzy with Mafia Wars & FarmVille.

This game was the first fantasy game in that style which has surprisingly outlived Zynga’s legacy.

It’s a good time killer, but it has development issues... or rather the developers tend to not update certain features for play on mobile devices. Specifically LAND OF EARTH and 5HR GUILD BATTLES.

I am not a programmer, so the name of the genre escapes me. You spent energy on quests and stamina on monsters and war and duels. You spend tokens on pvp. The strategy is researching how to optimize at your level and win. The better gear always wins, so smart pay to play levels faster and gets better stuff. I payed twice just to spend $, but now it costs a little more. There’s no $5 buy in yet- that would be tempting. And as many times as I research pvp and conquest- I still can’t figure it out when I lose to someone with a smaller army and less gear. But I like the Guild and gifting (free), and monster battling and contributing. Keeps my already overworked mind busy without stress.
SUPPORT: I lost a general I purchased on an iPhone and contacted support. They said they would look into it and they restored her to my account. iPhone support is good for iPhone.
The game play a little differently on FB than web3. On FB you can send elite guard requests to friends for a stat boost in questing, and a stat boost in Dominion pvp- sorry Duel Champion.
They have regular events and promos. Colosseum is happening now before noon and evening pacific. Lots of opportunity for free players to optimize- but you need strategy and friends to beat the Chaos campaign- and you make them- in game. Gotta go- Guild Battle time. Every hit that is a victory heals my tower. See you in game!

Obviously attacking other players is part of the game. But why is someone who is level 1700 able to attack a level 80 player? Not only is it unfair, it is toxic. I have a clan mate who was relentlessly attacked daily and ended up quitting the game because there was a clan attacking him every single day. Multiple times bringing him to 0. Attacking is part of the game but to what extent? There’s no reason such a mechanic is being abused so openly. Even if that player beefed their account with real currency, there’s no way they’re touching that player. It’s unfair.

Perhaps keeping a certain level cap? Level 1000+ players should be amongst themselves, it really does stop people from gaining interest when you’re getting ran over by people who paid money and played since the dawn of time.

I enjoy this game a lot!!! I just started playing again in the last few years. I use to play this about 10 yrs ago, but switched phones and lost everything.. got ticked and didn’t start over because it takes along time and hard work to get to the level I was 700 something. I refused to start over. Well I’m back and enjoying it again. I tried to register my new account, but it won’t let me because it’s still tied up with my old account. Is there a way I can get my old account back?? An how do I link my new account to my email, because if something happens again and loose it all over again, I’m done. Please let me know!!!! Game been here a long time. Dedicated following. Fifth generation of devs. Likely to be here for a long time. One of the most equitable games for free to play players things take longer but you can be relevant without spending. Game has a player managed good wiki, forums and a very active game provided discord site for information. Play revolves around building characters, multiple team battle formats, individual activities and a regular assortment of events. Development efforts continue with player input through discord. Multiple generations of features. Does not require constant supervision and works well with whatever amount of time you have to play. Meet lots of people from around the world. Most also use third party social media within 100 person guilds for communication. iOS, Facebook, and web interfaces provide a few different experiences.,

Come on oil.... 8 or 9 years and you’ve seen no third party apps used? I could give a name or two. It takes more than money to win arena.... I’d bet 95 percent of the top tier doesn’t get the majority of points using that accounts tokens...my own review.... it’s fun... better than match the color games.

I love this game. Have been playing for years and have met a lot of great people in the process. I will continue to play as long as it continues. 5 stars all of the way. The more you spend the stronger you get but you don’t have to spend money to be competitive.

I have been playing for over 9 years. It’s a true idle game where you don’t have to actively defend a base. It has progressed over time to generate multiple paths for long term players with a great mix of battling other players, hunting monsters and scheduled guild battles.
