Thank you for bringing this classic game back.

IMPORTANT EDIT: for those who are complaining about online multiplayer not working, it works perfectly fine for me, and I see others online as of 2019. However, multiplayer only works if you have an old Gameloft LIVE! account. Your account needs to have been created before October 10th 2018, or you won’t be able to connect to multiplayer. My online account was made in 2016, so I don’t have any issues. Unfortunately, new online accounts don’t seem to be supported, and I don’t think Gameloft is working on fixing this. Sorry guys :/

I was pretty devastated when I found out in mid-2017 that the game wouldn’t support iOS 11. I held on to iOS 10 for a long time, but my phone eventually auto-updated, and I lost the game.

One year later, and they finally decided to show N.O.V.A 3 some love. I’m super glad to be back, even though the multiplayer is pretty dead. Anything is better than the disgrace of a game called N.O.V.A Legacy, though. While you’re at it, could you guys please consider bringing back N.O.V.A 1 (the original 2009 game) and N.O.V.A 2?

Fun shooter, could use some improvements

This is a great app with a Halo feel to it. The campaign mode is nothing to talk about (although a lot of effort was put into it). The characters are hard to relate to and the protagonist is a bit of a jerk. He always seems to be complaining about every situation he ends up in. Yeah, I get that he's supposed to be rough and tough, but he has no heart. Also the narrative was boring and the dialogue sequences seemed to go on forever. Aside from the ok campaign, the multiplayer almost makes up for it. It's very exciting, yet the maps seem to have a similar design (except for the close quarters maps). And with only 10 weapons and no customization, gunplay can become a little repetitive; however vehicle warfare makes up for this niggle. Upgrades are a bit more expensive than I would like in a purchased game. Jet Pack usage should be accessible to new players or else it becomes an overwhelmingly unfair advantage. Too much grinding without in-app purchases must be done to obtain this Jetpack and even when finally purchased, it's not fun to play with knowing it's too easy to abuse.

OG Player OG Nova 1, 2, and 3

Love this game! And still do but but it’s incompatible because of platforms, multiplayer and such. But this game will always remain in my heart. Gameloft I am begging you to bring a new version of something very similar to Nova 3 or so, I played the new Nova Legacy but it didn’t have the same feel as the Nova trilogies. Please make a Nova 4 with new updated graphics from Nova 3, it can be with same mechanics, same content, same maps or maybe add new maps, same everything with single player campaign and multiplayer please! I will pay a monthly subscription for that!

I beg you guys to look at this review because I’m still a huge fan of the Nova trilogy expect Nova Legacy

Thank you Gameloft for the memories and amazing time I had with the Nova franchise!

Good and Bad

I played the Free version when it was available. I bought the game for $7 because I loved the game so much. When I downloaded the game, the game is only on one side as if I had the screen locked where I can’t flip it around. The story is good and in order for me to play multiplayer my sister had to buy it to because it only works under the same WiFi. I was excited to play the online but it tells me to come back later because of my internet or because it’s “timed out”. I see many people with the same problem, they need to fix the game or give refunds and take the game down so other people don’t throw their $7 away. One more thing I sent an email to the game server and I got a reply from the computer not an actual person behind the email, so don’t waste your time on trying to notify them because they don’t respond or fix the problem. I hope they fix this problem fast or I am going to need my $14 dollars back because I bought the game for me and my sister.

It’s great for a mobile FPS

This is actually good and I played it near the end, but I noticed that it became challenging, like Dark Souls challenging, you would have to fight a good bit of powerful and resilient enemies, and this is when you near the end and you will die a whole lot. But when you die you feel that you could change your strategy a little bit in order to triumph and that can have the player return because NOVA takes a bunch of notes from Dark Souls and instead of artificial difficulty, they use difficult enemies and it has you utilize your force push, for time control, which can give the game variety in gameplay, and I haven’t completed it yet because of difficulty so feel free to suffer like I did.

A great old game that still exists in the store

This game is an amazing game. It’s been in NOVA3 Store for a long time other than the other game loft games for example, spider man total mayhem, iron man 2, and a lot more. I would be playing those games for hours because the day those two got taken out of NOVA3 Store, I was actually crying. I am very happy this still exists. One problem though, is that when you try to do multiplayer, it never works and that was one of the best things in the game. I really hope gameloft reads this because they might consider to bring back spider man total mayhem and iron man 2. Those were my childhood games, and I will never forget them.

Best app from GameLoft

GameLoft doesn’t usually make paid apps, and when they do, they are not quite worth it. But this changes that. It gives me that kind of feel like you have when playing Terminator or some other shooter at an arcade, just without the shaking of the guns attached to the machine. And all the shooters that GameLoft does now, not very good. N.O.V.A. Legacy ruined the whole series. Same with the Modern Combat series, MC: Versus was responsible for that fail. But N.O.V.A. 3 is different. It’s WAY older then Legacy, but more fun. I feel like GameLoft just copies all their games and just adds slightly different gameplay features and reskins all the textures. N.O.V.A. 3 was really GameLoft’s only unique shooter, and it is MUCH better.

NOVA 1 and 2

This review is not for this current game, NOVA 3, but is really for NOVA 1 and 2. NOVA 3 is great, and I have no problems with it, but I also loved the previous two installments. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants NOVA 1 and 2 updated for iOS 14. Both were awesome games, so I see no reason for neglect. I paid full price for those two games and would like to play them. Either update what I paid for or give me my money back.

And also bring back Modern Combat 1-4. I would happily purchase those games so that I can have a chance to play them. Especially Modern Combat 3.

Old iOS favorite

Loved the series, and love this the most. From graphics to gameplay to story to music, just incredible to play on your cell phone. Gameloft, please do me one favor. Can you add iCloud and GameCenter support for this? We'd then be able to save our progress in the story over the cloud, and have scores to beat over GC. Your freedom edition has GameCenter achievements, but you never updated this one! Big downside was that all the players who played multiplayer are now on the freedom edition, this multiplayer is abandoned. Please, we paid for this one and stuck with it from the beginning, please add some iCloud and GameCenter support and the game will never need an update again! Thanks

Incredible for mobile

The game is completely astounding, from the graphics to the verity of guns to the mutable levels and the fact that to can go the entire game without buying anything (that's what I did, in fact, never even knew you could do micro-transactions). Only a few bugs here and there, like if you move on to one part of a level before you killed all the enemies and you couldn't go back you had to restart at the last check point. BTW I loved how often it saved. Sent at least 3-5 hours finishing this game, still can't believe it's on mobile. Amazing.

Amazing.

I love this game, I’m so happy that it came out for iOS 11 and now I can play it on my pro max but the sad thing is that there’s a couple glitches in the game, but all in all it is amazing, I remember first getting it on my iPad and playing it all day, but it was only the free version so I didn’t get the full story, and when I heard the free version was no longer available I was sad, then I saw the full version out for iOS for 7 dollars so I bought it, best game ever, never have been so happy to play this again.

Upgrades for newer iPads/iPhones needed

The only reason I'm able to play this game right now is because I'm on on older iPad that will support the game! Please upgrade so it can be played on the newer iOS systems. No one has come up with a similar game that is so much fun to play!

Upgrades desperately needed.

Update: Finally this game was upgraded and once again available for the newer IOS systems! I was pleasantly surprised when I checked the apps store and found Nova 3 is back! I now have it downloaded on all of my new phones and iPads. So far I have not found any other game to rival this one. Thanks for bringing this game back!

One problem this game has, I cannot pair my Bluetooth with it. If that can be fixed, the game would be perfect. Even with that little issue, no other game comes close to this one. Make a NOVA three or four and I’ll be the first one in line?

Amazing game but one problem.

This game is amazing. The graphics at good, voice action great and the story is engaging. It like a mobile version of halo 4. There is two really huge problems. For me it won’t let me flip the phone upside down. This is a massive no no. It’s way harder to play when the phone off button is facing down. Another problem is it doesn’t have controller support. When it’s probably the game that need it the most. Other then this two problems it’s great

The Best Sci-Fi Shooter on the iOS Improves and Then Some

The newest N.O.V.A. improves in so many ways. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is fluid, and the maps are great. However, I give this 4 stars (or an 8.25 if I could do that for the ratings) instead of 5 (N.O.V.A. : 9.5, N2 : 10) like the previous installments. N3 seems to be taking more from Crysis than the previous two entries, which were definitely Halo. I loved the Halo feel so much more. The maps were also much better and I was a bigger fan of the multiplayer. Campaign was also better. N3 is still very good though. A must have for fans of shooters.

I love it!

It's 2017 and I'm still playing it. I love it. One of the best around. It will be nice, seeing that there has been no development for 3 years, that they can make a new version that takes advantage of the new graphic capabilities of the iPad Pro and iPhone 7... It will not hurt to have a new version that I will happily pay for again, that looks great! Try to remember, this game was originally introduced in 2012 for the iPad 2! iOS 10 is a seriously long ways from iOS 5!

Give us NOVA 4!

What happened to the controls?

I love this game. And once I got a new iPad, I had to redownload it. So I redownloaded it, thinking that everything would be the same. But no, after I redownloaded it, everything was on the opposite side of the screen of where it was supposed to be. The shoot button was where the pause button was, the shoot button was where the pause button was. And it was hard enough trying to get into campaign. When you clicked multiplayer, it put me in campaign, and when you clicked campaign, it put you into multiplayer. It was ashame, because I really liked this game. Anyway, developers, please fix this or tell me how to fix this at least.

Good game but some problems

I used to play the free version, until it wasn’t compatible with newer iOS software and won’t let you play (which I think is just to force you to pay $6.99 for this game). I really really really loved the game, it was fun and I loved all the different modes (like capture the flag). But after I payed a whole $7.00 for this game, I noticed a couple of bugs. For one NOVA3 only worked upside down so now I have to play uncomfortably. And secondly, and most important, I CANT EVEN PLAY! It says I have an request timed out immediately after I try to play, even though I have WiFi. So far this has been a waste of time and money, which is really disappointing because I loved this game so much. Thanks for reading

Quite a few problems

1. Ban sky bombing: its annoying and totally unfair when people are constantly flying above you and just pounding you with explosives.
2. Make the cars a bit weaker:
Seriously, they aren't tanks. Why do they take 5 direct huts to destroy them?
3. Provide better customer support: There are hackers, bugs, and other improvements that NEED to get out there. Yet all it gives you is a menu of frequently asked questions.
4. Make auto target system smarter: It pisses me off when im shooting another car with a turret then it randomly selects the farthest person available.
5. Make money easier to get: in the free version you could watch ads to get more currency. Why cant you do that in the paid version? Especially since things in the game are so expensive and they hardly give you any money per match.
Please fix these things. Test your own game again and you will see the loads of problems that there are.

Bring back freedom edition pvp

Listen I know that the problem was hackers and such, but honestly, I didn’t even encounter any that I can recall my entire year or two of playing. Hands down Nova 3 freedom edition was the best mobile game released, way ahead of its time. Please consider pitching bringing it back. I know for a fact you would make more revenue in one year from the freedom edition than from all your other games combined. It was an absolute win!

Nearly the best shooter on iOS

Gameloft, please don't ever change this paid version of this game. Not only is it a technical showpiece for devices that don't have Metal support, but still looks among the best games for the iPhone and iPad. I'd love some out of this world shader effects like those seen in MC5, I just hate looking at ads in games I paid for to not have them.

This is one of the last that remains "Premium" and ad-free as paid consumers should be able to keep their games that way!
