Simple In/Out Reviews

Our small company of 45, have used SimpleInOut for close to 2 years now, replacing a paper sign in/out sheet. We love the ease of use, automatic status updates, geofences, and the ability for people to customize their own statuses or use our Company Quick Picks.

Quick glance at the ‘board’ tells us where everyone is at any given time.

Simple. Easy to learn. Painless. Efficient.

Being able to change my in/out status from my watch would have me rate this 5 stars.

My organization uses this for our IT techs and we’ve been loving it, however with the recent iOS update the locations services are not working. Again, we’re using this is IT so we know how to trouble shoot and this has become very inconvenient.

I clock in and have to refresh and check that it does actually do so because sometimes it doesn’t and I have to resubmit. A few times I have not refreshed to check and I have to write an email every time I “forget to clock in”. Hopefully they get this fixed because it is very frustrating.

It would be nice if an indicator showed on our main computer or device screen as a red or green dot to indicate in vs out. Similar to MS Teams indicator in my tool tray to show messages.

It's a good start, but there are some basics that are missing.
1. In the reports section, it would be very valuable to be able to see a list of someones status updates for a period of time. Then a manager could use that report to see "when" someone was in/out, what time they changed their status, notes posted in the update, not just how long they were in.
2. More status options. I know you can add notes to each In or out, but most in/out software have other statuses like Lunch, Meeting, Vacation, Sick ..... and then the Update can be populated with more detailed info like where the meeting is or how long the vacation will be.
3. Customizeable status. In addition to more default status options, the capability to add your own status options. Like "Onsite - At Client", "Heading Out". Things that would be more informational to individual companies.
4. And lastly, there is no place to give you feedback on SimpleInOut /website so you leave clients (like me) the only option to leave my suggestions and feedback in a review.

I won't be using SimpleInOut because it is missing these things and cannot accomidate my company. But will be keeping an eye on it just in case I can't find anything else.

I downloaded SimpleInOut to attempt to use it. I like the preview. However, on the login page there is no link or button to create a new account. With that being said, I cannot create an account, which means I cannot login. This makes SimpleInOut unusable for a new user.

It’s a great simple app. It needs some tuning in the syncing / updating of people in our multi-site config.

SimpleInOut is not flexible now which is annoying when you use it. Have to undock my iPad.

SimpleInOut does not work good on older phones. It never clocks me in or out and i have to do it manually I’m so sick of this dam app. And yes i has the tech guy look at it and he had no answer to fix it.

What is the point of SimpleInOut using my location to identify if I am within the geofence if I have to manually update it?

Not seeing geofence after IOS 15 update.

I wouldn’t of try it. SimpleInOut stated “ after 45 days you can subscribe” it doesn’t tell you the cost or any details. Felt like a scam.

This is my favorite offering for digital sign in/out software. I'm not quite sold yet though, I really need a native iPad version preferably with landscape mode, as well as a kiosk mode that would allow any staff member to sign themselves in or out from one central device easily; the admin mode does this but is not intended for this purpose, it could be much simpler. Geofence capability is not reliable enough for my purpose, I wouldn't depend on it.

If these items were addressed it would satisfy my needs perfectly.

I have found SimpleInOut extremely helpful. The geofence feature has been great. There is no way I could remember to sign in/out manually, so this is a job saver.

Interface is simple and easy to use, although non-intuitive in a few places.

There is, however, and issue with upgrades. I often lose my geofence (and sometimes login) settings after an app upgrade. This is very frustrating as I don't find out until I am confronted by my manager. SimpleInOut should be able to carry my settings forward between versions. Fix this, and you have earned 5 stars.

SimpleInOut has a brilliant concept! You can keep track of where your employees are at during working hours. Sure beats using whiteboards to log in and out. SimpleInOut has a great feature called Geofences that automatically logs you in when you enter a fence that you have set up. For example in our case, we travel from campus to campus. Unfortunately, it does not work for us. It logs us in at the wrong campuses. I have contacted them and told them about the problem and was told that it was probably our cell towers. Thing is we have great service in our city with LTE network. Now we saw an increase in monthly price without fixing the geofence issue. If they fix this issue, I would give them 5 stars and we would continue using SimpleInOut next school year.

This is a great tool for the work place. I am not a fan on geofencing. Having my location on constantly drains battery power and data usages. And on a lesser note, scares me a bit. I wish there was a way that I could be checked in when I connected to my job site's wifi. Then it would click me in without the data usage or the constant tracking. This doesn't diminish my battery power, but that's my fault for keeping my wifi on.

I’ve been testing a number of apps for a “simple in/out” board, and this one finally fits the bill. SimpleInOut has a simple & full featured UI and works very well. The customer service is outstanding. I received a detailed & helpful email after asking some questions the day after I contacted them. SimpleInOut is going to work perfectly for us.

Geofencing is the only available option for iPhones at this point. Location status is not available via wifi as with other devices. The geofences are inaccurate and will check me in and out of locations that I'm not even in the vicinity of. The attractive part of SimpleInOut was the ability to check in at locations without having to open the application to change the status, however every time I move my status changes even from within the same geofence. Disappointing product.

SimpleInOut works well when manually changing status. The geofencing is mostly ok. Geofencing looses connectivity at random intervals with no notice until you realize your not signed in. Accuracy was spot on until a few weeks ago when it started checking me in and out up to two miles outside of the geofence. Beacons are not quite there yet.

This really needs to be updated to show the time you punched in and out on the main status screen. I know it shows it in the Board tab with everyone else, but to check that requires 2+ screen changes and some scrolling or typing to find yourself. Putting it on the main Status screen with your profile is just that much more convenient for at a glance situations.

If only it was reliable...

First impressions: simple to use but a lot of scrolling. (20 people in our department = 3 screens.)

Would like the option of displaying one line per person to get more people on the screen (less scrolling). Also maybe option to show as a matrix - get 2 or 3 people per row.
