I have been using Spades as well as many other Optime apps for years and they have always been great until the recent introduction of ads. I understand the need for the funding the ads generate and would be perfectly fine with it, but the ads do not work correctly. The ads do not appear on screen, but pop up in the background in the middle of a game and I can hear them while I am playing the game. When this happens, Spades slows down to a crawl and eventually just crashes and loses the game progress. It just seems they tried to push out the new version with ads before they had worked out all the bugs.

I just tried to play 3 different games and never got past 250 points because the game would crash and when I reopened Spades , my progress was gone and I had to start a new game. Before the ads were introduced it was a great, 5 star app, but now it has dropped down to 1 star since I can’t even finish a game without it crashing. I thought about upgrading to add free, but I read other reviews saying there are issues with that version too. There are too many options for this app games on Spades Store to have to deal with these types of issues so I guess I will be on the lookout for a new this app app.

I have NEVER bothered to write a review for ANYTHING in my life!!! But this game is SUCH a rip off, it’s good that it’s free!!! It will take points away from your “team” (which is also a joke because they either way over bid or totally underbid!!!) if you get 1 trick over your bid but their “team” can get 5 over and get nothing redacted! And if you have a winning hand, the stupid game just closes down on you and makes you start a brand new game!!! If you’re just looking for an easy game to play to relax with, DO NOT download THIS ridiculous game!!!!!!!!!!! They only put up the ratings that they want and agree with so I’m sure no one but the admins will ever see this, but I hope not. I thought this game was fun for a few days, now I’m deleting it because I would rather have the few MB’s on my devices!

Your partner is a complete idiot, if you call nil or Blind she will work against you. The only reason you will lose even on hard mode is because of your partner. So this isn’t really a game of skill is a game of frustration of a really crappy partner doing really stupid things costing you the game. Most of the time I could win even on hard mode just by knowing that my partner is going to be stupid if she bids three she will only take two if she bids four she may only get two you have to cover her plus you have to understand that she will work against you if you call zero.

Listen your game is ok but Megan’s play is too unrealistic. It’s one thing that your opponents obviously know your cards based on how they play but Megan is the worst player ever. Unrealistically, poor decisions and irrational plays. Why trump with the Ace of this app if you are the last to play and have several other this app? Why trump your partner if they are gonna win the trick and you have plenty of other options! Plus she bids weird she will bid 3 but have 6 or 7 this app and all high ones. But then bid 6 when she can only win 2 or 3. I will be trying out new games! She is that bad!!!

Hands down this is the BEST this app game out there. Whoever programs it has done a great job with the moves and strategy other team members would make. However: I get that a free app has to allow ads to keep going. But recently, the game changed to these LONG video ads that take forever. And if you accidentally close Spades or toggle away and come back you have to go through them again. It used to go right back to the game if you hadn’t left for too long. It’s become so infuriating I think I’m just going to bail. Too bad, amazing game otherwise.

Inept player Meagan is a minor problem...(Is she the red team's sister?) The scoring is so biased and fraudulent! Bid 3 make 2, and you might lose 30 Pt's one time; lose 40 points another time; and then lose 60 points another time! Anytime the "Blue" Team is winning, the "Red" Team gets extra points, and the "Blue" Team gets a "Penalty" and the "Red" Team gets an extra bonus!
As an educator (principal and teacher) for over 30 years - I find this cheating is deplorable! I love a good challenge - but I want the activity to be fair! Same points added and subtracted for the same activity.
Other reviewers and I are looking for other "this app" games where our skills are treated with RESPECT and HONESTY!
Do you ever read the reviews? Do you want long-term customers. that recommend your games to other people?... Or do you want your customers to come and go?

Downloaded the free app and really enjoyed playing. Problem though was that there were too many ads that kept popping up and taking me to Spades Store without me selecting them. I would have to get out of my game and reload each time. That was frustrating so I upgraded to the paid version to eliminate the ads. Now when I choose to play blind null it does not let me pass two cards to my partner. Also my partner does not play as well as she did in the free app. She doesn't cover me when I am playing null. Feel like I waisted my money with the upgrade! What could have been a fun game has too many flaws! Wish they would fix it!!

This updated version just came out with new colors, etc. However, I can only play one game before the screen totally freezes up. It will allow me to view the ad at the screen bottom but will not let me go into a new game. The only option is to totally delete the ap, go to Ap store, and download again. Once I do that the cycle starts again and I can only play one game and it freezes again. This is on an iPhone with latest iOS downloaded. Please give me back the original

I enjoy playing this game, but the other players sometimes do inexplicable things. Most recently, I’ve noticed that another player will sometimes play an ace for no reason. For example, I led with an ace of clubs, but my partner played the ace of diamonds. She had not bid nil, so she was just throwing her ace away. My opponents have often done this too. I’ve tried to let the game developers know about this bug, but their website is blank or returns an error message. I think this weird behavior started when I began using the Hard level, so I’m going to go back to Medium and see if it occurs there.

This version shows how the program will only allow you do do certain things. My partner and I were up
Over 250
Points and only needed to get four tricks I bid two with the ace of this app and a single club, my partner bid 3 with only a double in hearts and four low this app.
Second time around opponents start pulling this app …. Ace to jack and we go
Set and opponents tie us in two more hands!!!! That ain’t going to happen in real cards. Computer program is gamed so you cannot win but so many times!!! FAKE!!!

On the recent fix apparently the appearance was changed.

Please revert back to the old appearance the new appearance is too bright and the icons are smaller.

Please also provide the option to change the names of the opponents and genders.

The only other thing I can think of is that my partner in the game does not seem to understand that we do not need to get extra books so once we get our books unless we’re trying to set the other team we do not need to get extra books whereas the other team which is a computer does understand it and they try not to get extra books so this needs to be looked into as well.

I really love this game I play it every day I just hope that you can go back to the original appearance. The new appearance is nasty and icky.

I find this a very relaxing game to play as a diversion from my day. Why? It’s difficult to actually loose a game with the main reason being that the computer can’t play a double blind when it is down more than 100 pts. If I’m behind more than 100 points I just keep playing double blinds until I’m back in the lead. Not foolproof but works the majority of the time.

If you’re like me and find it stressful to frequently loose to the computer (I’m looking at you backgammon!) then this just might be your game.

You can guess your partner next move, some times will always cut with an ace first and will help the other team put you in a hole by throwing in a high card at cutting time and have a small spade in their hand. Sometimes the system don’t give credit for all the points made, (maybe I move to quickly) for the next game. And the program team alway get the higher card to bid from.

Been playing this game in idle moments for a couple years. Main objection to update: new card configuration makes clubs and this app indistinguishable without a microscope, causing unintended play errors that ruin the game.

Looking at some of the other recent reviews, I see mainly objections to score keeping and to Megan’s boneheaded bids and plays. As to score keeping, I have not played close attention since Megan and I seem able to win 99% of the time anyway, at least until the recent update began causing visual errors. Regarding Megan, it is true that when I first started, Megan’s play was maddeningly stupid, but seems to have gotten much better over time — don’t know if that reflects upgraded software or if Megan has a learning capability or adapts to partner’s skill. The latter would be an amazing capability for a game of this type.

Just please, PLEASE, fix the card style or go back to the previous style!

UPDATE: Just realized update included two optional card styles. My criticism applied to the default card style. The alternative card style is excellent, but struggled through several games before discovering it. The new default style still needs to be fixed.

I downloaded this game at the suggestion of my girlfriend who was spending hours playing it and having a blast. By the way she's introduced me to my two favorite free games, the other one being Ruzzle. The advertising is not too obtrusive at all, after a while you get very good at it and are almost able to predict the card that's going to come out. That can be fun. Whether on the train, or on the airplane, or waiting for your flight, or on a bus ride - God forbid, this'll give you something to do for much of that time. Definitely a must download. The only thing missing? Friends, tournaments, stats and chat! I should be able to connect with the actual people that I play this app with at the barbecue, and play with them online to continue the fun of the game. If they add this to the game, it will make this the ultimate absolute all-time best this app game ever made. And I'm not kidding! I'm saving the last star for that part.

I like that this game is against computers, so it is super fast and I don’t have to find a table or people to play with. The pictures of the people are pretty simple, and sometimes my partner does some pretty stupid moves for a computer - but that makes it more realistic and unpredictable. I wish you could double tap a card to play it instead of having to tap the card and then tap the playing area. And I definitely don’t like that the cards are played in a line rather than by the person who played them. Overall pretty decent. Hard to stop playing because the next game starts right away.

I really enjoy playing against the computer. Overall very good mix of cards and realistic opponent and partner moves. My partner is a bonehead sometimes lol and bids high after I already have put in an aggressive high bid and we lose. Like I bid 7 which is usually a stretch. In real life a partner would usually follow with a conservative bid but sometime my partner will also go high and bid 5. I'll get my 7 tricks but my partner will bomb and get only 1 or 2 and not 5. Not a complaint though. Really enjoy Spades. They did a great job building this one :)

The easiest way to get beat is by your partner, Megan! For years, no changes have been made to her slinging out the ace of this app on her first cut which can’t be that hard to change! Also, always under bids which causes lots of bags. Could use a games won/lost tally, option to change partners, other variations of this app games.
By and large, consistent game with quick slide ads which is a plus but lacking serious challenges.

I deleted this game once and reinstalled it hoping so get it to run.
I downloaded the update the other day (minor bug fixes). Tried running the game again but still gets stuck on startup. You can change user name but the rest of the start options do nothing. This same game works fine on my iPhone but is still not working on the iPad.

The two guys Play as if they know what each other has.
They do not bid their hands. They bid low so others will get bags every Hand. I haven’t played that way ever, not every hand. I think if you took off bags they would have to play different. Megan plays good nil, but she loves to rack up Bags in other games. She either has 3 or 4 bags every hand, or doesn’t get her bid.

Enjoy the game but my partner has no idea on how to bid her hand !!! Constantly taking to many extra tricks by under bidding her hand, causing us to get the 100 point loss of points even if I try not to take tricks or taking some of her tricks and she still take to many by under bidding her hand !! I see other reviews say the same thing about Megan. Again Megan is the worst partner does not know how to bid
